  1. Belfry is a little too banged up to beat JC this time around. JC is better than they were last year, and no doubt they have some revenge in mind after losing 3 in a row to the Pirates.

Belfry still is searching for the answer on defense against good running attacks. I’m not sure how they will handle a great running attack like the Eagles will have.

It it is tough to pick against the Good Guys In Red but I think this battle is a little too much for them at this point.

  2. @Beechwoodfan @Watusi @BigVMan23 @MBWC41 @ThrillVille Cardinal51 ....I think I remember you folks all having mentioned making jerky in the past. Any luck? Any ideas/recipes you'd be willing to share?

@coldweatherfan Ever given jerk-making a try? Seems like something you might have fiddled around with before.

I’ve actually not tried my hand at Jerky making. I usually get some from our deer processor though.

I may have to put a couple these recipes to use. I’d like to make some on the smoker.

  3. @Watusi ...I don't know if you're interested to switch this with your new avatar or not, but here's a cleaned up and flattened version of the old Belfry logo that you PM'd me about.

If you can reduce it and replace mine with that, go ahead. Thanks.

And isn't that a cool logo? A pirate with a helmet on. LOL

It was worn by Belfry many moons ago.

  4. I think the Henry County game was an anomaly. Field was incredible sloppy. Ballard is a very good football team, and Central was up a couple scores and then seemed to coast. I will say they look just a tad streetballish compared to Scoggins-coached Central teams, but that defense is lights out. They will be a very tough out for anyone and look like they have an unimpeded path to the semis.
They always are in November, especially at home.
  5. Preface this by saying I think Belfry is a 3-5 td favorite vs. Lawrence. So I will pick my Pirates to win.

But it ain't no sure thing. Here's my reasons it may be closer than many expect...

    Lawrence always gives Belfry fits.

The game is at Luke Varney Field.

Belfry is still without a few starters, particularly on defense.

Lawrence plays the style, and has the personnel to run it, that can hurt Belfry.

Pikeville did it best. A big offensive line and a powerful running game has been a problem for Belfry's front 7. Lawrence can do that too.

    Should be interesting...

  6. This game was physical, and Belfry needed that. They hadn't had to play 4 quarters in a few weeks and they needed to play someone who would hit back. Even though physically competitive, the game itself wasn't really as close as the final score indicates, as Belfry held a 36-14 lead with under 5 min to go. CM scored a defensive TD on a Belfry fumble by a reserve RB and then got a late TD with just a few seconds left in the game.

Belfry has some defensive problems though against the run and I'm not sure what that answer is going to be. Hopefully they get it ironed out.
