Good stuff @gchs_uk9. Life is much bigger than football, but I'm glad we have football
I have a million memories of going to games with my dad, and my sons. I think about this kind of stuff a lot. I'm sure there is a good book there waiting to be written.
I've been richly blessed to have gotten to know you and your dad and your son.

I misjudged this one, thinking it would be a 2-3 score margin going in.
Too bad Fulton Co couldn't hold on to that lead.
-
Congrats to Coach French, he's been getting it done for a long time and has been a winner every where he has been.
He passed Mark Brown recently, too, who has 317 wins.
-
QB Avery Browning on a long TD and then on the Pirates' next possession a combination drive with Coleman and Webb doing damage. Soph RB Kyle Webb gets the TD at the end of the drive.
Pirates lead 40-0 with 6 minutes to go in the 2nd Q
-
Belfry holds the Jags and Ben Bentley takes the first snap 47 yards for another Pirate touchdown.
XP no good again due to a bad snap.
26-0 Belfry

Sounds like a good one, keep it coming Bac.

Dixon caught a 44 yd pass and takes it for TD
Bad snap on the XP and it is 20-0 Pirates
Floyd Central, wearing sharp looking Jacksonville uniforms, but unable to get much going against the Big Red Machine tonight.
End of the 1st quarter

Belfry throws a TD pass to the tight end, Justin Barker and their speedster running back Isaac Dixon breaks a long run for another TD
Pirates 14, Jaguars 0

It's only a half stick of butter. :idunno:WoW Toots!I am going to have to pick up another day at the gym if I make that.
I am thinking I need to add about a pound of bacon crumbles to the finished dish.

We are being discriminatory about free candy, and meanwhile poor Charlie Brown...

Threw together some bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers with the burgers tonight. Delicious
I haven't tried it yet, so tomorrow will be a test run. From the looks of it you put in a bunch of butter and cream cheese with whole kernel corn and season it.Yummy! How do you make the crockpot cream corn?
Here is the recipe I am going to try...
[h=2]SLOW COOKER CREAMED CORN[/h]
yield: 6 SERVINGS
prep time: 10 MINUTES
cook time: 3 HOURS, 15 MINUTES
total time: 3 HOURS, 25 MINUTES
So rich and creamy, and unbelievably easy to make with just 5 ingredients. It does not get easier than that!
[h=3]INGREDIENTS:[/h]
-
3 (15.25-ounces) cans whole kernel corn, drained
-
1 cup milk
-
1 tablespoon sugar
-
1/4 teaspoon pepper
-
8 ounces cream cheese, cubed
-
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into thin slices
[h=3]DIRECTIONS:[/h]
-
Place corn into a slow cooker. Stir in milk, sugar and pepper until well combined. Without stirring, top with butter and cream cheese. Cover and cook on high heat for 2-3 hours.
-
Uncover and stir until butter and cream cheese are well combined. Cover and cook on high heat for an additional 15 minutes.
-
Serve immediately.

Burgers and dogs on the grill tonight. Tomorrow night will be venison steak, baked potatoes and some crockpot cream corn. I bought a pork loin today that I will either smoke or fix in the crockpot in the next few days.

You can find it online at some candy specialty places, like Wholesale & Bulk Candy Store - Candy FavoritesAny idea if they still make this? Asking for my grandkids.I like that site because they list candy by decades, and other criteria. Fun stroll through the old days looking at some of those old candies.

I was hoping for something more fun, but I can live with "I Love Lucy Day"

What odd or strange holiday falls on your Birthday?
Were you born on "Eat What You Want Day"? Or "Alien Abduction Day"?
Find out HERE (and please share )

I disliked a lot of the ones already mentioned, especially candy corn and those black/orange wrapped things. I also was never a coconut fan, so any candy bar with coconut went into my trade pile.
I hated getting jelly beans, taffy and worst of all peppermint patties. I disliked those hard candies wrapped like a strawberry, too.
I loved just about any kind of candy bar, especially $100,000 bar (before they renamed it), Mr Goodbar, Snickers, Hershey and Zero. Other favorites were bubble gum cigars / cigarettes, bottle caps, candy necklaces, pop rocks / nerds and sweet tarts / spree

I love what Fulton County is doing, and that they have found some out of district opponents that they can get some W's against, and it is a testament to their improvement that they are in this conversation. This is the kind of story that makes high school football so much fun to watch, and I always pull for the underdogs.
That said, they won't be able to beat Russellville. I hope I am wrong and if I am, I will eat my crow.

Happy Birthday to one of the absolute best among us. :dancingpa

@sidelinedoc did you make the game?

Unique idea. At first blush I think I like it for freshman and JV games where participation and reps are (or should be) the main objective. There is no playoffs at stake, and we are too wrapped up in winning and records as it is.
I don't think it has a place in varsity, or any level where wins and losses have an impact on post season play.
What has the reaction been to this method? I can imagine that implementation could be HUGELY unpopular among the fans, and probably the players too.

This one is a little better up front, IMO. They don't have a Pugh on this team, but they have two Roberts' in the backfield and several nice receivers. That certainly is a bold statement. The state championship team with Battaile at quarterback and Pugh at running back along with others was a heck of an offense -
I read today that Pikeville's total yards was 407 instead of 470. I'm not sure if I misheard it on the radio, or if they misspoke. Either way, that is a lot of yards and they outgained the Pirates on the night.Pikeville won some battles but Belfry won the war.The Panthers outgained the Pirates 470 yards to 355.

Losing Your Hunting Grounds... sucks.

Have you ever lost your hunting land on short notice right before the season? I just found out yesterday we have lost the permission to the hunting land we have been hunting the past several years. It sucks, especially this close to the season (we aren't bow hunters). That farm belongs to a relative of a relative, and he decided to use it for another purpose, which is understandable. But it sucks.
I kind of saw it coming, because there were hints of it last year. It was an informal agreement, and since nobody had said anything before now, we assumed there were no changes. Until yesterday.
I'm long in the tooth in my hunting career, and can live with it, but my son, who is just turning 16 grew up hunting there and he is really bummed out. Not sure what we will do this season now, probably just wing it here in Pike Co.
Oh well, if you have a similar story and would like to rant, I'm all ears. Misery loves company.
