Elliott County only has three games left:
Feb. 8 - Raceland (H)
Feb. 12 - Mason County (A)
Feb. 19 - Russell (H)
Obviously Russell should be a win. Raceland is pretty good, but I can't see the Rams going to Sandy Hook and winning. The big game is at the Fieldhouse. It will be interesting to see how Elliott County handles themselves that night in what could be a state tournament first round preview.

Haha, I guess you never know these days. They'll sure be sorry if that happens, huh? Barring a MAJOR injury of say...all 5 starters, Mason County should be alright in the districts
I would imagine Mason County losing in the first round of the district tournament would be one of the bigger upsets in Kentucky history.
-
Another win for the Engineers. Estill County has a pretty nice team. The right draw could mean big things in the 14th...if they come out of their district.
-
Then they'll need to be ready for a potential surprise in district tournament play!
-
He was a force, but had a bit of early foul trouble and sat most of the second quarter. I think he finished with 14 points. Garrard County really couldn't match up with the size Anderson County has.
#41 for Anderson County has 29 points. I can't remember his name, but played the forward position. Very nice player. Anderson has a solid team.
-
Kind of surprised these two are playing. Lincoln County is quite a bit ahead of Monticello. Either way, kudos to Monticello for stepping up their schedule.
-
I think Elliott won their game before this one, as well.
You're right, but a win over Ashland probably makes you feel a bit better than beating Morgan County. Either way, Elliott seems back on track.
-
Seemed like a low scoring game. Clay County only averages 55 points per game. If that remains the case, I can't see the Tigers making any kind of push in the 13th Region.
-
An interesting pre-tournament score. With the 10th Region being played at Montgomery County, it looks like the Indians could possibly come out of this region.
-
A much needed return to the win column for Elliott County. Hopefully for the Lions it's a start on a return trip to Rupp.
-
Sort of sounds like how McCreary Central closed last season. No one needs reminded that Wayne County knocked McCreary out in the district last year. This year will be a much more winnable tournament game, but if McCreary doesn't right their ship, it could be an early out in the region.
Don't fret too much, though, SSF. The Raiders are still 20-3 and a coach that has a history of winning games in the regional tournament. There is still time.
-
Close game until halftime when the Bearcats eased out to a seven point lead. Early in the third quarter the lead stretched to seventeen before Garrard County closed it back to seven. The Lions could get no closer.
Good ballgame between two pretty good teams. Anderson County is a real threat to win the eighth region, but probably not much more than that. Garrard County has a solid chance to beat Boyle County in the district, but most would consider that an upset.

I saw him play late in the season. Very impressive player. Congratulations to this young man.
Actually, for such a small roster, Pendleton County had a pretty impressive team.

He virtuallly destroyed our military and HUMINT capabilities single handedly.
But you had money in your pocket and your 401K was through the roof!

What ever happened to having the 11th region at Memorial Coliseum at UK. It used to be held there and was by far the best venu for the tournament. Much more centrally located as well.
I think there are parking issues at Memorial Coliseum. Now that UK has added on to the building, there's even less parking. Memorial is a great place to watch a game, though.

While I tend to be in favor of seeding, the region and state are blind draws. Realistically, if the KHSAA wanted to maintain consistency then they would institute blind draws across the board in district play.
The diffence between district and region/state is the quality of team. A seeded district should send the two best teams to the region. Once in the region, everyone is pretty good so it doesn't matter as much. Along with that, seeding a regional tournament would be very difficult. By the time state rolls around, all sixteen teams are solid and seeding wouldn't be practical.

You're with me, leather.

I like that you said you would take it out before medical school. That is a big thing with some graduate level education. If you don't pass the look test, you won't get in. I had a male friend who was in elementary education and had both ears pierced once. He was told he couldn't participate in the program unless he removed his earrings.
Keep that in mind when you do this piercing. No that many people will look away from you and the right person might make their mind up not to hire you for potential employment. That doesn't mean don't do it...just think long and hard before you do.

Seems like the region had some conflict about dates, schedules and money with Frankfort, so it pretty much moving to Richmond for good. Somebody help me out, but I think that's right.
-
I think the 44th is always at Eastern Kentucky University.
-
I think Owen,Simon Kenton,or Walton Verona would be ideal for the cats...
FWIW, Gallatin County couldn't face off with Owen County until the final round because they are in the same district. But your point is understood. Two tough games to open the tournament can be killer, especially if another team has an easy route.

I agree, the sooner the better. I feel like the decesion will be within the next week or so.
While I understand the Lincoln County desire to get a new coach in place, spring practice is still a ways off. It can't start until after basketball and basketball isn't ending for awhile in Stanford!
The folks at Lincoln need to focus on making the absolute best hire for their program, something that they have both done and not done during the past. If it takes a little longer to get the best available person, your program will be much better off in the future for it.

What does that have to do with anything? In the NFL, teams come from nowhere to get to the Super Bowl at the time. Besides that, they HAVE won playoff games in at least 2 of the last 5 years.
Exactly, teams come from nowhere. Therefore you should enjoy the Pack's less-than-stellar odds. They are low because oddsmakers know that Favre, while playing well in spurts, will inevitably make a horrible throw at a horrible time to cost his team a game. The Giants got a real big trophy because of that this year.
Look, I'm not saying that Green Bay isn't a good team. They are young and talented. But Favre is at the end of his line (don't let one pretty good statistical year fool you) and until they make a commitment to put a younger quarterback with their younger team, I can't see them making noise.
-
You're mixing genres, right? The Burgin girls beat Mercer last night, right? The Burgin boys are who made the state tournament trip. I know you said it, but don't want anyone to be confused!
If the KHSAA is right, this is a big upset.
Scott County 86 Bryan Station 65

This might not be the worst thing for Bryan Station. The long winning streak might have gone to their heads a bit. It's almost a given that these two will meet up again in the district championship and maybe another meeting in the regional tournament. Just as no one should have written off Scott County earlier in the year, don't write off Bryan Station because of a loss tonight.
