If UK does go to the NIT, wouldn't they be a top seed?
With that being said, I hope they make the NCAA's but if they did go to the NIT they would have agreat chance of winning. (Or at least they better)
NIT-ology (from February 25) has Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament. Here's a link to who they predict to be in the NIT...and CBI.
By the way, I love the fact that there is an NIT-ology! I hate the fact that it's now "favorited" on my computer!

Stewart Mandel of SI.com has Kentucky as a projected #9 seed in the South Region, opening up with Kansas State. Interesting...

They made it to the Region, that's more than most of the other teams can say. Give it a rest, if you can't say anything positive than why say anything at all?? I don't see any reasoning with negative people. GO JUMPERS, we would love to see them in the finals, but either way, we're glad they are in the region tournament.
I was simply responding to a previous comment about "no love for the Jumpers." This thread is essentially picking the regional champion. Nobody was picking Somerset because they struggled to beat Rockcastle County and then were absolutely handled (and scored 36 points) against Pulaski County. That doesn't make them a bad team. It simply means that the way they are currently playing (6 losses in 9 games) makes them shaky heading into the tournament.

A coach has been hired today!
I'm hearing those rumors as well. I've only heard who wasn't hired, though!

No one giving Somerset any love I guess?
What have they done to deserve it?

THE DRAW IS FINISHED

It's definitely less than that. With the girls' 5th at North Hardin, that is kind of the extreme northwestern end of the region, but back when I lived in London (which was the extreme southeastern end of the 12th in the old days), I could drive to E'town in an hour and a half. Radcliff, where North Hardin is, lies just 10 minutes past E'town.
All-in-all, not that bad a trip. Certainly nothing like what some of the guys in the 15th/16th are going to endure.
By the way, I usually like the 5th Region officials working the 12th Region tournament. They do a pretty nice job.

A Lincoln/Boyle final, second year in a row?

Hey, his dad didn't know how much milk cost.
This is one of those things that the president (an embattled one at that) has to know. Making a statement like this simply makes him look all those worse and puts even more ammunition in the packs of his opponents.

I don't know if the "new" 38th district names an all-tournament team.
I thought all districts named all-tournament teams?

Much like death and taxes, South Laurel is again making a strong run toward a regional title. Steve Wright can just flat get it done.
-
These two can't seem to play a close game.
And they say the 11th Region is the best!
-
Does anyone know when the last time a team has won back to back regional titles?
Maybe some of those Pulaski County teams from 1998-2002 or so. Can't remember the exact years, but I think they won three.
-
Gosh is that accurate? I remember that Rowan team as being pretty solid. I would have thought their record was much better....
I'm guessing so. That was the first of three straight regional titles for Rowan County. Maybe you're thinking of the '88 or '89 teams that had better records?

I hope he's prepared to win a whole lot of games!

I could see a Rush Limbaugh-ish comment coming from Knight. Not necessarily racist, but maybe some sexist or degrading. Not saying it will, just wouldn't be surprised.

Don't fret over missing out this season. Warren Central has had a remarkable run and they always played with class when at Rupp. I'm sure it will be only a matter of time before Coach Riley graces the Rupp Arena sidelines again.

Catlion, sounds like gchs_uk9 has all the "inside" info. Find out who the sports editor is at Garrard, maybe he will know who the native is. My info is just heresay. I do think the best candidate for the job is going to Lincoln, so Garrard is missing out on that. Lincoln's gain and Garrard's loss.
I wish I knew.

This is from the state tournament program from 2006. I've listed teams from the modern era:
1984, Scott County (13-16)
2000, Mercer County (15-17)
1987, Rowan County (15-16)
1989, Oldham County (16-16)

Tennesse,Kentucky,Butler,Marshall,Westen Kentucky,Eastern,Georgetown College and more. Head Basketball Coaches will be in the gym tonight. To see Mr. Mack along with other players. Scott County by 10
Make sure the hospitality room is fully staffed!

Just heard this from a source close to the program. Front runners for the spot are Scenters from Madison Central, Johnny Poynter from Trimble County, some hot shot from LCA, some guy from Alabama, and a local boy. Don't know if local means native or currently in house.
I would be interested to know who the LCA guy is. The Alabama name has floated for a while, although no one seems to actually know the name!

Sure do hope it is a Garrard native or a proven winner.
Sure do hope it's a proven winner...probably not the best thing to be a Garrard native. That would just seem to invite trouble.

If you were a coach, you would think that you would want to go to a school were tradition did matter. Colors are a valuable part of the tradition. People who mess with the colors are messing with tradition. The love of tradition should be a great turn on for a coach.
That's a true statement, but it can be beat to death at times. Most people just want to see the school win games and have playoff success. In my opinion, they can wear purple helmets and leotards as long as the former is being accomplished!

Probably nothing! I'm guessing a loss to South Carolina or Florida might push them all the way out.
