Basketball is a team sport and it takes a TEAM to win a championship. On any given night Walton can have 4 or 5 different players lead them to a win. We saw that last year in the district and regional tournaments.

You are correct Whitfield and her supporting cast which are good but Gayheart is the best in the region because she really does not have the supporting cast except for Nealy and teams still cannot stop her. As for the region I think you can flip a coin on the top four teams IMO. Which are Anderson, Owen, South Oldham and Walton this year.

Probably best in the long run to have it called at the half because of heat. In the grand scale of things the game is meaningless as far as the playoffs are concerned so there is no point in getting anyone sick from the heat or injured.

Since their strength of schedule is part of the equation beating a low rated team badly doesn't get any style points. Their rating will increase as the seasson progresses since they play a tough schedule so I wouldn't be too concerned early in the season. Like I said before the ratings get more accurate about half way through the year.

Maxprep uses Calpreps computer ratings. They confused Harlan Co and Harlan and gave both games to Harlan Co. It will hurt Harlan Co rating with the loss. A teams strength of schedule carriers a decent amount of weight in a teams ranking. The rankings early in the year use data from the previous year as a starting point so there is typically alot of movement up and down with their ratings. As the season goes on they are seem to be more accurate.
