  1. I can't imagine why any established coach would want to get in this mess. I know Nelson County doesn't pay well. I think Coach Mason made less than $6K and did the field care on 2 fields. Gossett would be a great choice, but like I said, with a super that listens to 3-4 voices in the community rather than her HS principal and AD, who would come? I feel for the seniors to be, they are great kids. I had the chance to speak with Coach Mason this week and he has NO CLUE what he and his family will be doing next year. It sounded like he has had a ton of assistant job offers (thanks to his CU bachground I'm sure) and a few coordinating positions (sounded like he was really interested in a position at PRP with CU alumni Chris Wolfe). He is waiting for the right opportunity to open up.
  2. There are a ton of rumors floating around Nelson Co. about the reasons for Coach Mason's termination. Does anyone know the truth? I know the program and the county, but the way I understand it the HS Principal was 100% supportive and the AD was 100% supportive, but the FEMALE Super went alone to make this discision? Does he have a criminal background or something? The guy was the district COY 2 years running and is very well liked and respected by teachers, coaches, and parents? I can't imagine many coaches wanting to step foot in this mess? The local paper has not mentioned specifics about the rational for Coach Mason's removal and the SUPER, Principal, and AD have had very tight lips refusing ANY comment. I know the team has cleaned up thier act, as far as unsportsmanlike penalties, over the last 3-4 years...which I was proud of. New Coach short list: (at least names from the community) Mike Holcomb Mark Brown
  3. I don't think you people understand? It is a track meet with equipment and a ball. I'm sure Danville has their share, but Bardstown has 5-6 kids (or more?) that appear to run 4.5's. We are talking about the back to back state track champs and none of them have graduated! They aren't great up front and they do struggle between the tackles. Defensively..it is a track meet with blitzing and machoing. How long has it been since Danville has traveled in the play-offs?
  4. I'm sure that when we played for one state title in football and we went to the 4 class system there were people (the have's) that said "this will water down the competition...let's give everyone a trophy...etc." Now here we are saying the same thing about a 6 class system that does address most of the concerns dealing with the enrollment differences in a given class. If a teams wins a championship, I promise they'll treasure it forever! Only adults get caught up in the logistics. I do look at Nelson Co's opposite district with X, M, H, PRP and Butler and wonder if we can get a trade to take place with the other Louisville district. Maybe send M or H or X to the other district. Heck while I'm at it, just put the Louisville districts in their one region.
  5. I did not attend the game, but my people tell me they ran 2-3 running plays and 2-3 pass plays. JH is a classic wing-t team and are well schooled at running traps. If I had to guess JH ran 2-3 forms of traps right up the gut and threw a couple pick routes and fades. If you can block it....you score. It is a simple game plan.
  6. It was at JH and I was speaking figurativley.
  7. It should be, but I got off the phone when JH recovered the OSK. 2 Knees and tear down the goal posts!
  8. onside kick JH recovers Ball Game
  9. td H 49-46 JH 28 sec
  10. 41 sec Pass Int 1-G from the 8
  11. 3rd-6 from the 13. 46 ticks
  12. 49-40 JH Male is Driving. H is on the JH 35 with 1:15. 1-10 H on the 20.
  13. 49-40 JH JH Ball on the H 33. 3:10 3rd and 5
  14. 21-7 WC and it's getting late
  15. xp pt no good. 49-40 JH 6 min
  16. correction jh 49-male 40 and H is going for 2
  17. 49-34 jh 8:45 4th H on the 9
  18. They have one set of bleachers and I expect a crowd! It is a super nice stadium, but they have no bleachers on the visiting side. Good Luck
  19. Coach Mason will be back next season. He has 100% support from the administration and AD. He does it right and some kids aren't willing to put in what it takes to win in that region. As far as under achieving. If you ask him, every team under achieves except those playing in December. The 04 team under achieved and defeated 2 top 10 4-A (Louisville Manuel and Louisville Butler) teams and lost to X, North Hardin (played X tough), Boyle Co, Bardstown (rivalry game minus 4 starters NC is 8-22 vs B-town), and Oldham Co in overtime. The NC team in 05 had 4 kids in week 1 with ANY experience. I expect NC to get back to work soon and be ready to go next season.
