We should do review for officials too at each game. All we need are monitors and multiple cameras and someone to run the equipment. Throw in media timeouts to boot. Then we would be exactly like the college and pro game. Only not. I am not opposed to a shot clock. I am opposed to limited resources. High School is not college or pro. Heck, some small colleges even struggle with the resources for this. Can you imagine how many times in a high school game there will be controversy over shot clock violations? I also think you want a faster game, go run and trap. Don't let teams hold the ball. But don't cry because you're scared you might give up a lay up from a team that strategizes against you. But that argument is spilt milk. Shot clocks are here, for better or worse. On a different note, the shot clock will be fun to an extent and make for some unusual late game situations. Especially if the person running the shot clock is inexperienced. Hopefully they work it out for JV officials to run the shot clocks (which means another officials fee and more work for assignors).

South Oldham beat Bryan Station in a great semi final game. Martin Co (who beat Sayre) and South Oldham will play for the championship tonight at 645 pm. It has been a fun tournament with some great performances, highlighted by Braxton Keathley's 12/14 on 3 pointers in the opening game vs KCD, followed up by Amari scoring his 2000th career point in the semi-final loss to South Oldham. Sayre and Bryan Station will meet up in the 3 place game. This really is a great tournament to start off the holiday season.

Can't wait to watch him in Lexington at Sayre! Heck of a player!

This is the 10th year of this pre Christmas tournament at Sayre and it has grown into a very nice event if you are in Lexington. This year's field includes Bryan Station, South Oldham, Wayne Co, Martin Co, Lafayette, Paris, Kentucky Country Day, and Sayre. Last year Sayre won the event over West Jessamine, Fern Creek, Clay Co, Wayne Co and others just to name a few. Bryan Station and South Oldham are both top 25 teams and Martin Co and Wayne Co could be by time the tournament rolls around. A few notes: 1) It will be fun for the kids. 2) It will change late game situations dramatically, and that could be fun. 3) Finding someone competent to run it will be impossible. jv officials are about the best solution, but of course that will also come with a cost. 4) Was not needed. if a team didn't want another team to "hold the ball" go out and trap them, speed them up. but that's not wanted because if you are the team trapping, you might give up layups and subsequently get beat. we just took away a big source of strategy for upsets, that's all. (for reference, see the bryan station-lex cath game when jaron and eric Brown beat lch by slowing it down- by the way it was an awesome game, slow or not, and a great strategy.) 5) The most the shot clock will affect any possession in a game is when the operator forgets to reset it, and they have to stop play. watched this with a team playing in florida using the shot clock for 3 games. only 1 possession came down to shot clock.
