Any scores from last nights Cov Cath vs Ryle game?

One thing that I’ve noticed in the first two weeks is a shift in pass interference calls. Not sure if it was even a focus but defenders seem to have more freedom in coverage as far as physicality. Aside from the obvious pass interferences I’m a fan of this personally. Receivers have had to be way more physical in highlands first two games , I watched John F. #9 Get completely ran out of bounce last week on a route and nothing was called. I hope it’s consistent moving forward and receivers can adjust. There’s also the worst flag in all of football in my opinion , where the ball is way underthrown and the receiver has to comeback for the ball , crossing the defenders pass. It’s a major bail out play in my opinion and rewards a bad play on the offense far too often. This happened once last week in the game and the ref held on to the flag. I’m a fan of that even when it doesn’t go our way .

It was called on Highlands Adam Surrey a couple times the past two years . One of them being in the state Semis in 2023 against Cooper on huge critical play and it really hurt the birds in that game.

It’s “Amil” Wimzie and he is not a re-class he’s just played up in nearly every sport for the past few years also Jaxston Moeves #13 is also an 8th grader and is the starting corner and back up QB. He was the QB for the 7th grade last year.

Thanks for clarifying, it can definitely make sense for some. I know Lorenzen is a junior and won’t turn 16 until after football season. That one always shocks me.

The reclass stuff is wild to me, so 15 going on 16 playing freshman football?? If that’s the case it doesn’t get any more lame to me.

I strongly disagree with this statement, especially after watching the replay from their last scrimmage. They’re a very very young team with a new QB , but they have athletes everywhere and playmakers everywhere. They’re big , strong and fast. Their young guys just need to get a couple of games under their belt and I’m going to say Fridays scrimmage was a big help. Their line more than anyone has lot of cleaning up to do but I have a feeling Frederick Douglass is going to be just fine, plus ST X looked very very good. They also have a great coaching staff who I’m sure is going to clean a lot of stuff up at practice this week. If anyone in FT. Thomas is taking this game as a walk in the park I think you’re out of your mind.

I get what you’re saying , I just think in a scrimmage you want to probably work more on things you need work on. The first drive out of the half Highlands did exactly what you mention, they went about 70 yards on 7-10 plays and mostly just pounding the ball down Males throat. Keeping the playbook simple in scrimmages is very common as well , a lot of coaches don’t want to put too much on film this early.

Things to take away from this scrimmage to me , first and foremost it accomplished what a scrimmage should for both teams. I don’t know that’s always the case with some of the scheduling and formats I see. Male was without their absolute stud and maybe the best back in the state (possibly more guys as well) and unfortunately sounds like the back may be for the whole season. Prayers for that young man and his recovery. Highlands was also without Benke , Neiman , Klosterman , Lucas , Willoughby and cook. Highlands offense didn’t do a great job of establishing rhythm early, a lot of that had to do with Male and a lot of it had a do with route timing/overthrown balls , miss communication from the line which I’m confident all will come with time. Good luck to Male this season , I think regardless of how many guys they loose they’re really good at just putting guys out there that will figure it out and can make plays .

Yea, your point? I’m not saying kids are truthful, I’m saying Tegan is 6’0 ft and you don’t see six foot D1 tackles. His dad’s expectations might be a little unrealistic and I could be wrong. His dad’s reason for going to Anderson is D1 exposure/ opportunity, he’d be playing next to 3 D1 guys on Highlands line. With that said I think Anderson runs a great program.

Mason Howard just added another D1 offer from Citadel yesterday as well. If it doesn’t jump out to everyone that the issue was the Harutukus I don’t know what would make that happen. The dad was a total nightmare, kid and mom though were great and will be missed. Teagan is 6’0 ft not 6’2 not 6’3 and to be honest you just don’t see many 6’0 D1 tackles. Highlands now has two Division 1 lineman, two Division 2 at this point in their career and one with some d3 snd NAIA, I do however wish Tegan well, as I stated he’s a great kid and he did not want to leave.

Of course you’re going to “eye roll” at it lol. Fact is if Conner does better at retaining these kids that live in their district , they get better instantly. You’re correct, it’s the parents decision and I stated I don’t fault them for that , nor the schools that are receiving them. I think Rash can do a great job of getting the Frymans , Linds , Campbells , Kremers and Aylors of the world to stay and play in the district they reside. That is if this is a long term deal for him but the more I think I about what FC and Guru have stated, I could see this being very temporary.

My point is what could be and if anyone is going to do it , I think it would be Rash. There’s not another school in NKY that I can recall that is or has ever been hit that hard on a yearly basis. Beechwood is Conners biggest competitor and has been for the last 5-10 years. Campbell another stud Conner lost to beechwood a few years back. I’m not blaming the schools for accepting the kids or the parents for sending them there , simply stating there’s a plethora of talent at Conner.
