  1. In addition, Massey has Cov Cath as 7 point favorites over JC (35-28) with a 61% chance of victory.
  2. These two teams have a really difficult path to the title game. JC is undefeated but their likely path if they keep winning is Cov Cath, Highlands, Franklin Co. then Boyle or Paducah in the Finals. All at home in the first 4 rounds but Wow. Cov Cath would have at JC, at Boyle, at Franklin County then Padcuah or Highlands in the title game. Wow again. I have not seen JC in person but I am very familiar with coach Eviston and the Colonels. Eddie always does a nice job in the playoffs taking away the other team's strength. Harney and Gaiser are a difficult 1-2 punch to plan for. You need size on the D Line paired with Length and athleticism on the Edges to contain them. Harney can do just enough in the passing game to keep drives alive. CCH with Lind and Reeves will slow JC's run game just enough and will be heading to Boyle Co. next week. I want to say something like 28-21 Cov Cath.
  3. I thought both teams did some nice things on offense last night and both struggled tackling on defense. Much of that was the weather but some was scheme and guys out of position. Birds came up big on special teams. Both of these teams will be strong at the varsity level for the foreseeable future. As far as Bryce and playing at the varsity level now, I feel he is being developed appropriately. He has seen varsity action in big games such as Cov Cath, Ryle and Elder. He has also played a significant amount of JV. As expected for a young player, the results at JV and Varsity have been mixed. He is certainly not ready for a full time varsity role like some are saying today on social media. Bryce is a special player, he is a good kid and a hard worker. He will continue to develop and will be a top player in the area. Let's just enjoy the ride with Bryce and the rest of the Bluebirds. Go Birds!
  4. I believe most varsity games in NKY are being played on Thursday this week. Officiating would be an issue.
  5. No broadcast but it will be streamed on the Hudl came: https://fan.hudl.com/usa/ky/fort-thomas/organization/5235/highlands-high-school/watch?b=QnJvYWRjYXN0Mjk4NTU4Mw%3D%3D
  6. Here is the link for the game stream: https://fan.hudl.com/usa/ky/fort-thomas/organization/5235/highlands-high-school/watch?b=QnJvYWRjYXN0Mjk4NTU4Mw%3D%3D
  7. Games to watch this week - Douglass vs. Boyle and Franklin Co. vs. Bowling Green. I don't think Paducah or Highlands can catch Johnson Central or Boyle. Boyle will likely take the #1 overall with a win and most likely stay at 2 with a loss. Highlands and maybe even Paducah would pass Franklin if they lose. I do not think Cov Cath can pass Corbin with CCH on Bye and Corbin in a should win game. Here are the likely scenarios (I think): 1) JC 2) Boyle 3) Franklin 4) HHS 5) Paducah then Corbin and Cov Cath or 1) Boyle 2) JC 3) Franklin 4) Highlands 5) Paducah then Corbin and Cov Cath. Scenario 1 would be Corbin at JC and HHS at Boyle or CCH at Boyle and Corbin at HHS in round 3 depending on the CCH at JC outcome. Scenario 2 would be Corbin at Boyle and HHS at JC or CCH at Boyle and Corbin at HHS in round 3 depending on the CCH at JC outcome. The 3rd round would not be impacted if HHS climbs to 3 in the RPI behind JC and/or Boyle. Looking forward to the final outcomes to look at all the scenarios!
  8. As I have said on here before, he would be an excellent interior D Lineman. Quick, strong and smart and will have the size. Many of the same qualities that would make him a good interior O Lineman. He played interior O line his 8th grade year and was excellent. Great at center and oh man, running behind him as a pulling Guard. With that said, O Linemen and D Linemen are different breeds. Really have to love it to play those positions especially at the next level. I can also see him playing TE at the Group of 5 or FCS Level. Keep in mind that he just turned 16. If he grows a couple of inches then we have a different story here.
  9. These 2 teams are very good. Fun game to watch.
  10. I believe at least one or maybe both TD receptions for Wimzie were thrown by 8th Grader Jax Moeves. Kid can sling it a little!
  11. Yes! Thanks @Tigerpride94. Always the best data!
  12. After seeing these two in back to back weeks, I would say no chance. Campbell Co. can move the ball a little on offense. The QB (Lucas) is decent throwing and running. WR (Earls) does a nice job making some big plays. The issue with the Camels is on defense. I don't think they can stop Cam and Maher. Cooper hasn't put up a ton of points in the first 3 weeks but they have faced 3 solid defenses. This is the week they light up the scoreboard.
  13. If they finish 1 and 2 in their district, which they will, the earliest they could play is round 3.
  14. Massey has Boyle Co. as 7 point favorites (28-21) with a 61% chance of victory vs. Highlands.
  15. There weren’t any unsportsmanlike penalties. The personal fouls were questionable at best and with new officials doing a lower end game, it happens. One veteran official was visibly scolding a new official for multiple penalties thrown. The new official simply didn’t know the rules. We will see this a lot moving forward with the ref shortage. There were many no calls versus the losing team on holds and players were told they won’t call it in a blowout. Just not right.
  16. Two 6A teams in the first 3 weeks of the season have cancelled JV games vs. Highlands. Frederick Douglass also cancelled week 1 although they did it early enough to give enough time to find another game.
  17. Max Preps is always head scratching.
  18. The current path for Highlands in 4A most likely includes either Boyle, Cov Cath or Corbin in round 3 then the potential of Paducah, Franklin, Boyle, Cov Cath or Corbin in round 4. I would personally prefer the 5A path to Kroger but we will see how it plays out.
  19. Highlands lost to Cov Cath 9 times in a row between 2016-2021
  20. I could be wrong but I felt like this was a tie game heading into the 4th quarter and Cash Harney did not play late in that game. Cov Cath returns most of their key players as well. Maybe not as much ground to make up as the score from last year appears to show. Should be a fantastic week 1 matchup.
  21. Best of both worlds. Live scrimmages vs. Male and Ryle and have the Blue/White event for the entire city of Fort Thomas to checkout the program the Friday before the season. On Friday 8/15, all Highlands teams from 7th grade through Varsity will scrimmage, there will also be the 2025 Highlands Hall of Fame inductions and Senior Night. It has been a great evening the last 4 years.
  22. Tayden Lorenzen will play a good bit of MLB. He has been in practice. Personally, I would love him at Nose guard in the 3 man front. Would be a game wrecker. As a TE/WR on offense, he needs to take reps on defense. It will help the team and it will help his recruiting. Gabe Williams is taking reps at safety and RB. My guess is he will play more defense than offense but will still get many carries.
  23. 8th grade QB is Jax Moeves. Really nice 3 sport athlete.
  24. Do we know who actually won? I guess both teams/tie since no championship game? *Edited - posted too soon didn’t see the comment above about dual banners.
