Kiefer being voted POY seems to be the logical choice. She’s at the top of nearly every stat category in 10th region. On top of that Her team is the #1 team In the 10th and beat Igo’s team head to head. Hard to argue against that! Igo is a 19 year old Senior on a team of underclassman. I would expect her stats to be much higher this season. Instead, they have declined. The one thing that really jumps off at me is in the weekly region stat updates Igo doesn’t even qualify to be on the list for the assists category and she’s a PG. One would think with her scoring being down her assists would be up but that’s just not the case according to the weekly stats. Again, I feel like the Coaches got this one right. Would have really been interesting if Mia Meredith hadn’t got hurt.

It happens all the time already all over the state! KHSAA does a pour job of policing transfers. Some cases it seems they turn their head and others they hold to the bylaws. Maybe it depends on which kids are getting turned in? Regardless, I hate seeing kids punished for this! Especially, given how inconsistent KHSAA is on governing this.

I really wish people/coaches/media would look deeper into the numbers before proclaiming a team is good because of their record or a player being good or one of the best in the region because he’s putting up good stats. Who you play should be considered and should weigh a lot in factoring who’s good. For instance, someone mentioned Robertson Co having a good record (22-5) justifying their players getting the votes they did. If you look at KHSAA official RPI for the 10th Region you would see Robertson Co strength of Schedule is the worst out of all 16 teams in the region. Their Opponent’s Winning Percentage is 37%. Next to them is St Patrick at 41%. Only 8 teams in the Region played a schedule of OWP 50% or better. The top 5 schedules in the region were: 1) Bourbon - 58% 2) Campbell - 56.7% 3) Montgomery - 56.4% 4) Scott - 56% 5) GRC - 56% Just seems who you play should be factored into these votes! Kids only go through High School once and it can really sets their path for the future. Not all systems are perfect fits and many kids miss out on opportunities due to being in bad situations out of their control. That’s why I really think every student athlete should get one granted transfer. If it’s really about the kids and looking out for their best interests. I know nothing about this situation but from what I’ve seen on Twitter the kid in question was really happy at his new school, which he has been at all school year. Why is the KHSAA just now ruling him ineligible? That’s the real shame part in all this!!! Another situation where a kid is punished for trying to do better for himself.
