    • Current format of four teams per district has been used each season since 1991 (32 years).
    • Current format of six classes has been used since 2007 (16 years).
    • Dream scenario of two teams per class that seemingly everyone thinks existed for an eternity only lasted four seasons (1987-90).

Point being: it isn't that current. It gets tiresome to hear the same old complaints every year. If you don't want to watch football this weekend that's fine. Stay home. But there are quite a few good games this weekend across the state. There will be 3s that upset 2s. There will also be blowouts just like every week in the regular season, just like the early rounds of all other athletic tournaments, and just like the second round of football next week.

I’ve seem several state championships end in blowouts. I like the format it gives most teams something to look forward to and work at if you only had 2 per district there would be teams that would never get to play in a playoff game.

  2. I think they can appeal it and see if the refs have a change of heart I don’t know what happened but if I’m a ref if it was just pushing and fussing I would let them play. I think a coach has to have better control if you have players ejected in a game you are clearly better than the other team and they have to miss a playoff game you have a shot at winning I think that’s a really bad look for the coach. I know we don’t like to attack coaches on here but good grief.

Paducah had 75 players with none going both ways to Hopkinsville 34-35 players with quite a few going both ways. Looked to me like the Tigers wanted it more than PT last night.

PT has talent and they have some very good coaches but something seems off. If PT runs the ball 55 times last night they win the game. Hopkinsville couldn’t stop them when they did that but they kept playing with fire by throwing the ball and it bit them.

I still think PT has a run ahead of them because nobody they play is going to have a kid like Mercer from Hoptown to dominate the game on both sides of the ball. Especially early on in the first few rounds.

Apparently you haven’t seen the Smith kid for Taylor play he’s dangerous.

Ranking from most likely to be beaten to least likely to be beaten:

    Frederick Douglass vs Boyle County

    Warren East vs Daviess County

    Southwestern vs Madison Central

    Woodford County vs Simon Kenton

Mason County vs Greenup County (2 teams I know the least about)

Metcalfe County vs Kentucky Country Day

    Mayfield vs Madisonville-North Hopkins

I like this I think it’s right on the money.

  5. This is the craziest district I think I ever seen. Casey and Hart are 3-1 Glasgow and Taylor are 2-2 in the district but I can’t help but think that Glasgow and Taylor are the two best teams in the district. But I guess that’s why they play the games. If I were PT and Union I would think I got the short end of the stick with this draw. As far as this game goes Casey’s defense had no answer for Glasgow’s offense as Glasgow put up over 500 yards of offense and 65 points. As far as Casey’s offense goes I heard all Wendi about how balanced they were but I just didn’t see it they only had 16 yards rushing and 12 of that was on the last three carries when they were just trying to run out the clock. They do have a good quarterback and some good receivers but with them being so one dimensional and having no defense I think they are going to struggle in the playoffs. They will get past the first game because I think they play Webster but that’s about as far as I think they can go.
