The entire game?  I don’t think running every play is effective strategy vs Owensboro.    Goodwin usually is wreaking havoc vs the run or pass.  Here is Goodwin vs a very good Henderson line:

I expect them to try to run the ball as long as the game remains close I don’t expect much passing. Now if they get behind early they may have to scrap that idea but I don’t expect them to try to throw the ball much unless they have to or maybe to try to catch them off guard.

MC schdeule is soft for sure.  But they did what they were supposed to do, and that's beat all the teams they play, good bad or ugly.  I watched a couple of their games on Youtube.  Looks like they are tough/gritty team.  Ball control, want to grind you down running the ball.  I don't see them throwing the ball much.  They have some good size up front.  Not much team speed (except #5).  They didn't exactly play any offensive juggernauts, so I'm not sure what to say about their defense.

I don't know anything about Danville except what I read on here.  Power Rankings have these two teams nearly dead even, so I would give the edge to the home team.  But I can also see where some think Danville speed will be the difference maker.  Hard to argue that point after watching a couple of MC games online.  Either way, it should be a good matchup.

I remember in 1999 Glasgow played Boyle Co in the state championship and everyone was saying it would be Glasgow’s speed versus Boyle Cos size and size won out and I think it will again Friday night but in all likelihood the winner of this game gets a running clock put on them next week but still should be a good game.

It is not debatable that the best BBQ in town is Old Hickory.  Moonlite is great to get the buffet because of all the sides that you can get but for straight BBQ its Old Hickory and its not really close.  If OHS plays well then I think they win by two touchdowns.  Carbon could have played last week but was held out for precautionary reasons as OHS was going in as a huge favorite.  Getting Goodwin back has help transform the defense to what was expected before the season started.  He had 5 sacks last week and I think 8 in last two games.  He completely wreaks havoc.

Hard to sack the quarterback if he’s handing off.

Not at all, Danville is way too unpredictable to guarantee anything. I think Danville is a very talented team who has lost to great teams (and some bad ones). If Danville is on their 'A' game they should win, if they are on their 'C-' game they will probably lose.

I like your explanation I think Metcalfe wins the game but you have convinced me that Danville has a better shot than I probably originally thought.

Better Mutton bbq at old hickory and Boston butt (pork).  If you want a buffet go to Moonlite.  But the better  bbq is at old hickory.

I think Moonlight has better sides but I agree Old Hickory probably has the better BBQ but guys you can’t go wrong with either. Now for the game I’m a little surprised that no one hardly is giving GW much of a chance. I think Owensboro wins the game but I think GW will be right there till the end.

  6. I know Glasgow lost to Hart early in the season but I still think Glasgow was a better team. And before people go crazy I don’t think Hart could’ve hung with Greenwood the way Glasgow did and Hart lost to Casey who Glasgow destroyed. That being said with the way Union handled the Scotties last week I think Hart has no shot in this game. Nothing against Hart they’ve had a wonderful season and are poised to be good again next year I’m just trying to be realistic.

They've lost to some really good teams: Boyle Co, LCA, Bullet East, etc. So 5-6 looks bad on paper but I think it's fair to wonder what Metcalfe's record may have been against a similar schedule.

Also, for what it's worth, I would put Danville's RB D. Brown up against anyone as one of the best athletes in the state. He has a competent offensive line and is more than capable of dominating a game.

So are you guaranteeing a Admiral victory.

Danville is a very talented and athletic team. I would say if you are judging solely on talent, then Danville is one of KY's better teams. Unfortunately for Danville, winning football games requires more than talent, namely discipline which they can lack sometimes. They have to be among the most inconsistent teams; I think it would be a grave mistake for anyone to assume that Danville is not "any good" just because they've been on the wrong side of a few games.

I respectfully have to disagree. I’m not saying they have no talent but I certainly can’t believe they have one of the most talented teams in the state. Talented teams may implode because of poor discipline and not win a state championship when they probably should but they don’t go 5-6. They have some talent but not near enough.

    State Finals at Commonwealth Stafium

Owensboro Catholic vs Beechwood: Winner Beechwood 17th State Championship!!!!!!

Of course  I am biased toward Beechwood but I think the RPI this year has worked to Beechwood’s favor and the West Bracket is going to cannibalize itself. The Mayfield-LCA game is going to be a battle and I think LCA squeaks one out against Mayfield. I then believe that will take its toll on LCA and they lose a close one to Owensboro Catholic the next week. I believe the State Championship will be another battle but the previous weeks games will wear a little more on OC and Beechwood wins by a score of 24-17. That’s is assuming all teams stay healthy.

Looks pretty good except Danville over Metcalfe. Danville is a dumpster fire and and Metcalfe is better than most people realize.
