By that picture it looks like they have 20 or 21 players?  If injuries happen I fear them not being able to finish the season.

The Ads will be a young team.  I would be amazed if they won more than 3 games.

If that’s the whole team not only does it appear they don’t have very many they seem small as well.

I don't have 40, and I'm not in the know on top  coordinators, but here's my top ten head coaches under 40. This is mostly based on career accomplishments so far.

    1. Justin Haddix (Perry County Central, Corbin, Boyle County) - Cut his teeth at Perry Central before teaching an old dog new tricks. He's won three consecutive state championships in 'Title Town' with no end in sight.

    2. Brandon Smith (South Warren) - The apple didn't fall far from the tree. He's transformed the Spartans into a state power with three state titles in the last eight years.

    3. Keegan Kendrick (Bullitt East) - Won the big school championship in his first year on the job. Bested Male twice. Enough said.

    4. Hunter Cantwell (Carroll County, CAL) - Continuing the excellence of his predecessor. Reigning 3A champs and poised to add more to the trophy case.

    5. Jay Fallin (Owensboro) - He's done everything but win the big one. The Red Devils have been a force in 5A under Fallin, with four straight semifinal appearances, a state runner-up, and nearly 12 wins a season since 2019.

    6. Eddie James (Franklin County) - James has basically done for the Flyers what Fallin has for Owensboro. The only thing left to do is bring home a ship to Frankfort.

    7. Jason Foley (Taylor County, Southwestern) - Delivered Taylor County's first semifinal appearance in twenty years before moving to the "Reservation" and improving on the standard set by Larry French. Southwestern is 34-5 over the last three years and made the semifinals last season.

    8. Todd Adler (Logan County) - Engineered one of the biggest turnarounds in state football history. A 42 game losing streak from 2012-2016 gave way to 11 wins in Adler's second season. The Cougars have been winning ever since, going 55-16 overall since 2017. If we're talking pound for pound best coaching jobs, he'd be higher. Maybe much higher.

    9. Sean Thompson (Crittenden County, Paducah Tilghman) - Was tabbed as the man to restore the shine to Tilghman football after a successful stint coaching the Rockets. Narrowly missed out on a title in year one. Year two was up and down, but they saved their best for last, nearly derailing the CAL freight train in the semis.

    10. Joe Wynn (Newport, Mason County) - Turned the Wildcats around from 4-29 in the three years before he got there to 18-13 during his short stint. Two years in Maysville have yielded 22 wins and a semifinal appearance last season.

Honorable Mentions: Colt Phelps (Green County), Daniel Barker (West Carter), and Tim Champlin (East Carter)

Very good information I don’t know about everyone else but I appreciate this information.

Completely different animal, comparing a spring baseball trip to Fl to a 3 hour trip with a football team. Baseball isn’t loading up 50+ guys and a trailer full of equipment in the middle of a school day to play a game that night and then turn around and go home. A baseball team takes maybe 20 guys, on one bus a day or two before they play, and stay down there for a few days. A baseball trip like that is part work, part vacation and way easier. I’ve done both, and I’ll take the baseball trip over the football trip any day of the week.

I’m not saying it ain’t harder but schools travel for long away games every year seems like the only people that complain about it are the people not associated with the programs.

To me FD was the best team in the state last year.

I know it was early in the season but BE did lose to Spencer County. And Boyle´s win over BG was close to say margin as FD beat them by. I know comparing scores gets iffy at best. Not saying Boyle could win 6A but I believe they would be in the mix. And a yeah then the big 3 of X,T, and Male were not a dominated as in recent years.

I just like seeing some teams outside of those three win it. Football is a lot more interesting when you don’t know who’s going to win it all before the season even starts or at least the two or three teams that it’s between. It’s far more exciting the more teams you have that could win it.

I always thought it was funny that we only talk about travel distance in football.  So many Kentucky high school baseball teams travel to South Carolina or Florida every year for tournaments.   Likewise, many Kentucky boys and girls basketball teams travel crazy distances for Holiday Tournaments every December.  But, when we make new football alignments, travel distance is important.

I agree I feel like we worry way to much about travel.

As to the state titles - I drove past their football stadium today:

    43 Track (boys & Girls)

    4 Football

    2 Golf

    2 Cross Country

    1 Wrestling (last year)

3 Baseball - they are counting their 2A Titles in 2021 & 2022.  Is that cheating?  I don't know.  Maybe not.

Are these overall state championships in track and field or individual events I have to be honest I don’t even know how they do track and field do they have an overall champion. They have so many individual events I think it would be easy to pile up championships.

I saw the twitter post, but in all seriousness, how are they able to use this replica of CCH’s Colonel?  It’s literally the exact guy with small teeny tweaks and I know CCH’s is trademarked.  How long has Caverna used this logo? I can’t imagine the Park Hills crew would be happy about this, rightfully so.

I’m 50 and they’ve used it as long as I can remember.

You schedule who you can schedule. I get it.

More or less, I was hoping for a stiffer test than Barren County before district play began. One of the BG area schools weren't the first that came to my mind. However, Warren East or Greenwood would've been nice games.  I've seen Glasgow invite Woodford County to a bowl game, for example. Before FS was in their district they played quite a few times. I also would've been OK with someone like Taylor County.

It's much to do about nothing really. Just a personal preference. Glasgow usually has the bodies to compete with said teams which is why I posed the question wondering if they might be down. It will be interesting to see them rebound from last year.

The problem with scheduling for Glasgow is they have so many traditional rivals in Russellville, Monroe Co and Allen Co they have been playing them for years. You throw in the 4 game district slate and then they are always going to schedule cross town rival Barren when Barren is willing. That only leaves two games Somerset who I feel like the coaches think is a quality team now you guys may know something different about Somerset that I don’t but traditionally they are pretty strong. The game they might could’ve scheduled someone tougher is Larue not talking bad about Larue but traditionally they are not as strong. So all that being said I think Glasgow’s main problem with scheduling is having so many foes they’ve played so long and having 4 district games instead of three which a lot of teams have also eats up a game.

They were in the same district in AA from 1995-98.  FS beat Glasgow in 95 then went on to be state runner-up, losing to Breathitt County in double overtime. Glasgow beat FS and won the district from 96-98. In 96 FS was up 14-0, then Glasgow came back with 2 TDs and went for 2 after the last score to win 15-14. I think Fort Knox led by Derek Homer won the region that year. Glasgow won I think 28-0 in 97 but were upset by Elizabethtown in the first round of the playoffs. FS ended up winning the region and lost to Owensboro Catholic in the semis. Glasgow won 42-14 in 98 and both teams lost in the second round.

Good information I thought that Glasgow held there own when they were in the district before.

I feel a bit disappointed overall with this. Last year, they at least had Greenwood to help test them. I don't see a single competitive out of district game on here. Will Glasgow be down a bit?

Not trying to defend their schedule but it’s hard to schedule is this area you have the powerhouses in Bowling Green and then not a ton of tough teams. They have played Greenwood South Warren and Warren East recently and I don’t blame them for dropping Greenwood for cross town rival Barren Co. it’s just easier to criticize a schedule but probably a lot harder to actually make a schedule as a coach especially when you want to play schools that are kind of in the same area.

Love to see Glasgow and Franklin in the same district.  Franklin leads the all time series 36-26-1.  The series started all the way back in 1944.  Glasgow is the 3rd most common opponent for Franklin Simpson with Russellville first and Bowling Green second.  Love keeping that traditional opponent going.  And should be good games going forward with potential district ramifications at play.

They’ve been in a district once before I think in the early 90s and Glasgow was pretty successful while they were in the district together.

  13. They went 6-5 last year after winning the Region the year before. I think they will be better they have all 5 senior linemen back 3 of which that have been starting for 3 years and a very talented and big sophomore class with several young running backs. They also have a 3 year starting quarterback in Jessie and a manageable schedule with Hart having pretty much everyone back from the best team in school history and Franklin is always tough and then Somerset who are historically tough not sure about this coming year. They should have a very good regular season but I’m afraid the third round would be their limit as they would probably have to play Central or Cal in region championship which would probably be to much team for them.
