    This.

I'm not "big" on Adair County either. Glasgow should have the athletes and experience to win this. The game last week just didn't resonate well with me. If that kind of performance travels with them to Columbia it's hard to see them pulling it out.

Sometimes teams have off games Glasgow beat Larue, Monroe and Allen worse than anyone on their schedules have. It’s just hard for me to forget Adair’s coach brought Casey in last year already having won the district and Glasgow hung 64 on them.

Not sure about that as Barren threw for 154 while Glasgow threw for only 38 yds on 3 completions.  The Scottie pass defense has always been suspect and this game could end in a mild upset if Stonebraker and crew get the passing game going.

Most of that was on two broken plays it seems like Glasgow has good coverage guys when they are actually covering they have several interceptions this year but they can’t keep having these busted coverages where no one is within 15 yards of a receiver. It seems as if everyone is sold on Adair being great and they might very well be but they’ve played a FS team that’s a shell of what it was when they won back to back championships and a bunch of cupcakes but you guys seem like you think they are great so I guess we will see Friday. But I will tell you this they better be able to score because they gave up a bunch of points to Monroe and I assure you Glasgow’s offense is a lot better than Monroe’s.

  3. I think the Monroe Co win over Barren actually hurt Glasgow it made them think Barren was the same old team and they ain’t they are better and a lot more capable. I think Barren took Monroe for granted and then Glasgow took Barren for granted. You could tell in the pre game Glasgow was not sharp they were dropping passes and the throws were behind the guys and they were even dropping punts they were just not focused.

  4. I guess I don’t understand the shocking part of it Glasgow wasn’t ranked or barely ranked in most polls playing a school that really wanted to win. Glasgow had a lot of drops including at least one where the receiver was running down the field and would’ve certainly scored and they had a ton of penalties. Barren played to keep the ball away from Glasgow’s offense and it worked to perfection congrats to them on a good game. The same Monroe team you mention Glasgow beat by four touchdowns and shut them out. Adair won by 22 might be a pretty good game between the two, but again it’s not like Glasgow was a favorite to win state and lost to some horrible team. They go out and try to win every game and so far they have so let’s line up and play.

Yes, that would be a dream of EVERY player in the state to win a championship. So how do you give them the best chance to do that? When was the last time a 6A school that wasn't balanced won a state title? Scott County 2013, 10 years ago. All I am saying is what I see every year when I make the trip down to Lexington on the first weekend in December, teams like Bardstown last year don't have a chance. CAL dared them to pass the ball, stacked the box, and because Bardstown Could not pass the ball effectively, they were done. I also see it every year with Central Hardin. Last year it was Bullitt East who stopped the CH run and dared them to throw the ball, and their season came to an end.

I guarantee there are a lot more teams that don’t run a balanced offense than do. Very few teams have a quarterback that can throw the ball with any consistency. All I’m saying is 6 teams win state championships every year but 217 don’t and the majority of those teams don’t have a quarterback who can throw consistently, heck a lot of college teams don’t. You go with your strengths and try to have the best season possible if your ceiling is a district championship then go win it and there ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Balance matters with every team! To be successful and reach every kids dream, a state title, it matters. Anyhow, I digress. Everyone adult has different definitions of success but every high school football players dream, if asked, would be to play for a championship, so why not give them the best chance to reach their goal?

If you truly believe that every player for every team thinks they are going to win a state championship you are living in a dream world. And no balance doesn’t always matter if you can run and overpower teams you don’t have to throw the ball. I believe Belfry Franklin Simpson and many other teams have proven this is past state championship victories.

I was able to attend all six state championship games last season in Lexington. All of the teams that won a state title had one thing in common, they were balanced on offense. It is absolutely necessary. No greater example was Bardstown vs CAL. CAL was able to stop Bardstown running game and Bardstown wasn’t effective throwing the ball and got blown out in the most important game of the season.

Apparently there’s been a misunderstanding I thought we were talking about this game for which I don’t think JH has to be balanced to win. But they have zero chance to get to a state championship so I don’t think balance matters with this team.

I’m talking about something entirely different. Calling up Frosh who don’t practice with or play varsity, for the sole purpose of hindering their ability to transfer.

I guess that’s big school problems because at the small public schools everyone practices with the varsity. But this is never going to change because if kids don’t just get immediate playing time then them and their parents say well we will just send them somewhere else or if a kid is really good then they will just transfer to one of the so called power programs and that’s why you see the same schools in the championships every year. It ain’t like the old days these are no longer community schools they are built just to win football games just like in college.

I like this idea for one main reason. I have heard that coaches calling up freshmen and playing them for 2 snaps to “lock them in” is an actual thing. Disgusting, but apparently a practice that some employ. I would like to see that not be a factor in where a player ultimately ends up his sophomore year.

I think you can look at it a couple different ways. I know if Glasgow is up big Coach Garmon gets everyone in the game and it ain’t got nothing to do with this it’s just trying to reward the younger guys for practicing hard everyday with some varsity playing time. I’m
