This starts tonight, and its not at all a state tournament but they call it that. It will be 14 teams and is all western Kentucky primarily the areas of bowling green, Hopkinsville, Henderson, Owensboro, Paducah and in between. Is anyone else on the board involved or have a child involved? Should be a good event, I believe Warren East has won this several years recently and McCracken and Christian county are usually in the mix. I would expect McCracken to do very well this year.

Congrats to her and her family, Rice seems to really be recruiting hard these days as we have a kid their mens team is looking at in our area.

My daughter is a 2024 and I took her to a Bolus camp (don't stone me) a few years ago when Jaya was a 7th grader going into 8th and man she is very impressive up close. Great kid too. I've followed her ever since. Shes also only about 5'4 or was then, and playing young in her class so not held back which is key to evaluate when seeing how they are performing against hs girls. She did play on a weak team playing what I think was a weak schedule but for a kid in 7th to do what she did which was have a few 20 pt nights and play solid, then she is what I thought she was. I always assumed Jaya would be the best player in that class but honestly we haven't seen any others outside of western KY. Marshall county has some nice looking freshmen girls, one being Dan Langhi's daughter who is probably 6' tall or more. Theres a 6'4" 250 lb girl that played for Graves county but she's consistently in trouble and I believe was removed from the team. Not much that I recall in that class in regard to high level talent in western KY that I can recall.

So when will this case be settled? Havent heard anything lately.

For Zion Harmon to be deemed ineligible at Marshall County

Talked to a customer in Marshall county yesterday and he indicated they are still planning to play for Marshall this year and that he enrolled in school. I would assume he was already in school there since school started so was a bit confused.

I took my daughter to Ricks PG camp last year before she went into 6th and they did some good things, and there were a few 8th graders with nice games and one upper classman but not much elite talent. We've been to a decent amount of camps, and honestly the material wasn't bad and some of the coaches were pretty solid, but you could tell it was just a part time gig for making money and they weren't overly interested. Ole Rick wandered out of his office at the end of the camp to mumble a pep talk to the kids and that was about it. I'd say if you have other ways to get exposure do it. We went to the KY Premier Camp this summer and it was run really well but more importantly you could tell they had a genuine interest in each girls game and development.

I would assume Dan Langhi got the job since he has a daughter that will be a freshman this year and her class along with the one below it is very good. I can't remember the guys name but there is an older coach who came back into the system at south marshall middle school and has been working with the girls for a few years. Dan Hall, another notable Marshall county alum who played for Vanderbilt has a daughter who is an 8th grader this year, her and Langhi are going to be very good. I'm assuming it was in the plans for Langhi to take that over if they didn't feel like they had the right guy, and I would say Dan will probably do a good job considering his playing experience.
