  1. Ryle Vs Campbell Co may be the most intriguing matchup of the 4 days.
  2. Less then 48 hrs to the unofficial (scrimmages) start of another HS soccer season for NKY teams. Always a good opportunity to get an early look at these teams' returning and new (to varsity) players. These games typically give very little indication of how good these teams will be come October but still a fun and exciting few nights to kick off the season.
  3. This may work. To play on any HS athletic team you must be enrolled in that high school, pretty simple. If a school only has enough students come out to form one team, then have one team. If enough come out to form 2 teams, form 2 teams. No one, or only a few come out, you don't have a team. Middle schoolers play for their middle school and or club team. Not every school offers teams in every sport.
  4. Post #30 from warbeagle looks like an actual copy and paste of the actual rule. If this is the actual correct wording of the rule, any JV team that list juniors on the JV roster can NOT have 7th or 8th graders participate at ANY time, practice or game. And any opponent with 7th or 8th graders can not put these 7th and 8th graders in the game at ANY time.
  5. I stand corrected, good point stinkyboy. They way I now understand the rule if juniors are listed on the JV roster, 7th and 8th graders are not permitted on the practice or game field, at ANY time. My guess is this rule is broken on a daily basis. If a 7th or 8th grader is hurt during one of these infractions the coach and school could be held liable.
  6. The allowable solution, from what I have been told is both coaches discuss this before the game begins. JV team A coach (the team with middle school players) informs JV team B coach (with juniors) that he has some middle schoolers on his roster and would like to get them some playing time. Team B coach has to agree to remove all of this juniors from the field at the same time and Team A can then put their middle schoolers on the field. Team B does not need to sit their juniors for the entire game, only when Team A wants to put their middle schoolers on the field. Obviously this only works if team A has enough 9-11 graders to play without having their middle schoolers on the field.
  7. To me this is a sign the program(s) is dwindling in the number of students in grades 9-12 participating. It's my understanding freshman teams that invite middle schoolers to tryout are only doing so because they need players to form that freshman team, not because of desire to have middle schoolers on the roster. If this is now happening to the JV teams, it is a bad trend IMO.
  8. I would agree, to build a consistently successful program you need contribution each season from seniors, juniors, and a couple to a few sophomores at the varsity level. Some yrs there may be exceptions, but on whole this system works very well. Many very successful programs with lots of depth will play juniors on JV.
  9. Is this intel from "unnamed sources" or do you have a very reliable inside source? Lots of "fake news" in the world today, making it harder and harder to decipher what to or not to believe. If as groinpull says, this list is from last yrs squads, beside the potential St X transfer, what other players not on this list do you say "will play some varsity"?
  10. Do most coaches list this many players, 36 on their KHSAA roster? Seems like a very large number for a varsity roster. Assume 5-10 of these will wind up on the JV roster along with a few freshman to round out the JV squad. The St X kid would make for an interesting addition, is his transfer to CCH confirmed?
  11. You just have to love the BGSG! Everything (weather) wrapped up into one weekend. 90+ with high humidity first two days, thunder, lighting, rain and mud the third day.
  12. That's assuming Ballard gets past their first two opponents, which I think are Bishop Brossart and winner of Lex Cath/Oldham Co. I think this tournament is set up similar to the Lex Cath girls tournament. First round winners go into the winning side of the bracket, first round losers into the consultation side.
  13. Lex Cath Are you saying CCH Vs Ballard in first round matchup? I have not see the matchups posted anywhere.
  14. I've heard all catholic HSs in the Covington Diocese are mandated by the bishop to extend the dead period one additional week beyond the KHSAA mandate. Neto (Paulo) is a great coach and has years experience running this type of camp, MC is fortunate to have this exposure. He is having a lot of success at St. Francis in the very tough Northeast Conference where he begins his third season as HCoach.
  15. A student leaving HHS to enroll in NCC is different then a student leaving one publicly funded school to enroll in a different publicly funded school. When a student in a publicly funded school (government funded) leaves to attend a privately funded school it saves every tax payer money. For this reason alone (saving me the tax payer dollars) it's all good!!!
  16. Welcome to the Cincinnati Development Academy | Cincinnati Development Academy
  17. Congrats to the KHA U16 grey team, good luck and enjoy your trip to Kansas City! KHA Red U17s go 2-0 with two clean sheets to advance to the semi finals on June 3rd in Etown. Quite an accomplishment given their injuries and having to playing with only one sub both games this weekend.
  18. I'm not nearly attuned with the younger ages. Sounds like the U13 KHA Red team is off to a good start to their 11v11 career. How did they do in OHS State Cup? How do the U14 KHA Red and NKSA Pro teams compare? How do you see the U14 C bracket playing out? As I mentioned about the U19s, when KHA and NKSA teams play each other in SC games it can make for a bit more interesting dynamics. Many of these kids (and parents) know each other, some may even be schoolmates, neighbors, or previous teammates, etc.
  19. From a NKY soccer fan perspective there are some interesting matchups during pool play weekend in Bowling Green. On Saturday the U19s have two good teams facing each other, KHA Red Vs NKSA Pro. High school teammates will be competing against one another in this one. For NKY fan this is a must see game. On Monday (U19) KHA Red Vs LFC White has the potential to be a massive game. It could be the game that decides who gets through and who doesn't as well as a potential preview of the U19s semi-final, winner of A Vs wildcard. U18s have no NKY teams. U17s see a limping (hit hard by injuries) KHA Red team in a 3 team bracket. Not an easy two games but they should advance. NKSA Pro drew a tough opening game Vs LFC White. If NKSA can win this game they would have a great shot at advancing. U16s have the NKSA Pro team competing. U15s have KHA Red and NKSA Pro in different brackets. U14s have KHA Red and NKSA Pro in the same C bracket, playing each other early Sunday morning. U13s surprisingly have no KHA or NKSA team entered. Good luck to all NKY teams this coming weekend.
  20. "had to go" Is this due to timing of switching from OHSouth to KY? Did the U16 blue hope to play in the KY State Cup instead of the President's Cup? It appears KHA enters most if not all of their boys blue and grey teams in the President's Cup.
  21. Good for them. U16 OHSouth State Cup is not an easy road to travel. CUP and OP are two very good teams in that age group. Will the KHA U16 blue team be playing KY State Cup or Presidents Cup?
  22. KHA Blue U12, 13, 15, 17, and 19/20 teams not listed in either KY tournament. Assume these 5 KHA blue teams are Ohio South teams? Does anyone know if they are playing OHS President's Cup or OHS State Cup? I'm pretty sure the OHS State Cup has begun playing early round games, any known results for KHA teams?
  23. NDA grad and former assistant coach for the Pandas Hillary Johnson has been named the new NCC Girls Varsity head coach. Johnson brings a strong playing and coaching experience with her to NCC. Congratulations and good luck, the NCC program is in good hands.
  24. Little debate US soccer is good at making money. As far back as 10-12 yrs ago ODP had a reputation as little more than a fund raiser for the federation. Now it sounds like they are making money, 5% of every ticket sold to these international friendlies, off the fans, crazy. When will we see the benefit of all of this money on the field?
  25. Got to go back a little ways, may be off by a year but 2007 St Henry grad Zach Lange was a stand out on a good St Henry team his freshman yr.
