I'm not going to beat the dead horse any longer either, but heavy duty, I said nothing about his knowledge of the game, the rules or coaching ability. I also didn't say anything about whether his players enjoyed playing for him or not, so what the players think is fairly irrelevant. My daughters attended his camps back in the day at Mercy and loved him and would be fine playing for him. What I mentioned was the intimidation of the umpires, and I think that happens quite frequently. Again, though, Male kept playing, won the game and let's move on to the State Tournament, which should be a great one!

I can't tell from the question marks whether you're being serious or not. Regardless, Male earned the win. Having said that, you need to talk to parents around town who have been around as well because to a man, speak to parents from Mercy, Ballard, Holy Cross, Butler, Sacred Heart, wherever, and they will talk about how he intimidates umpires and gets calls.

These were the 2 calls I heard about in Male's favor. I don't know who the umpire was as I was not present, but it is pretty regular for Male's coach to earn 2-3 close calls a game. Pretty ridiculous! But again, Male kept playing and had timely hits and Taylor should have pulled her sooner. I have seen that from our own coach about 5 times this year so pretty common now.

9 of these freshmen were clear leaders in the 6th and 7th Region Semi-finals and Finals! I think my previous comment has been validated and am excited for Travel Ball to check out some of the freshmen from around the state!

I heard it was a crazy half inning, Eastern should have pulled pitcher sooner and Male was the benefactor of some questionable calls. Regardless, hats off to Male for not quitting.

That is fair and I agree about not discussing kids in too much respects but you brought Case up, not me. Also, as I said before, I think she is a very good player and could be great like the Freshmen I was mentioning. Before I list my examples of kids who I believe are demonstrating some great things in this area as Freshmen (and 8th graders), please explain to me how Case "led" Male last year and also explain why she is now sitting behind a freshmen and two 8th graders in the field this year? I mentioned potential "greatness" and you jumped on it and said "nothing like Case leading Male last year" and you have still not explained how Case led Male last year. I am sure Madison Mudd, Poynter, Suski and others would be interested to know how Case was leading them. That doesn't mean I don't think Case is on the verge of greatness as well but you keep asking about "leading a team" and she didn't lead that Male team last year so help me out on this.

I was just joking man, relax! I think the first two are basically everyone's favorites which is why I said that, but Scott County, Male and a couple of others have a legitimate shot as well. Regional Tournaments should be interesting, though, so first things first.

And also if Case is so special, why is she not even playing in the field for Male this year? The 6-8 I reference include 2 girls starting in the field over Case.

Well, let's be clear, Case does nothing special last year without Poynter and Suski and all of the talent around her. She is a very good player to be sure, but suggesting that she carried that team in any respects is pretty uninformed at best. There are about 6-10 freshmen actually leading their teams without the assistance of those players in this area. Again, I realize this comment will be taken out of context as usual on this thread, but you take these 6-10 freshmen and put them on that Male team and they would be comparable with Case and much better in the field.

So folks as the Districts get played out and the regional tournaments begin, what have you all seen. I know what I have seen in this area and the Freshmen are very, very good, if not close to greatness, in Jefferson County. The only thing I have noticed among the freshmen that is missing is strong freshmen pitching. Not seeing much around here but as far as overall talent, very good! Curious what others have seen in all areas.

This softball season has been crazy and completely unpredictable! I told folks that in the 6th Region you could have 4 teams win it, but didn't even have Fern Creek in mind. In the 7th, it is definitely Male's to lose but there are 5 other teams playing extremely well and on the right night, anything can happen! It's crazy but very entertaining!

Shelby County beating Collins and Fern Creek beating Mercy were pretty huge upsets! Again, not that Shelby County and Fern Creek are not good teams, but those two losses were completely unexpected.

This is puzzling and disappointing because kids get left off these all-star teams due to their coaches decisions about where they should play and how they should hit/making them slap hit and then they don't get to be looked at by college coaches at these all-star games! Very ticked off right now but hopefully we recover with the travel season and on-campus camps and workouts!

Assumption has 5 freshmen who are regularly starters. They are all very talented! The "fast" one is an outfielder for the HS team but plays a great Shortstop in travel ball and will be playing SS this Summer.

Without a doubt, which is why I need to temper my comments. Heck, there is such great softball across this state, that it is easy for some of us to get "protective" about our own areas of the state. So the Northern Kentucky folks get defensive towards the Western Kentucky folks and Jefferson County folks get defensive towards Northern Kentucky, etc. But they're playing great softball in every corner of the state so we should all just sit back and enjoy all of the teams and players.

You are correct, and I need to hold back comments or judgment until I see her play. Regardless, I need to temper my comments because I am sure she is a nice, hard working kid. I just am always skeptical of huge stats until I see someone play in person. As far as not respecting Northern Kentucky softball, that couldn't be further from the truth. There is great softball in that area, and I have never suggested otherwise so perhaps my comments should have included Highlands in that list. Didn't realize that they were playing Newport Catholic, which I know if a strong program. I can't delete the comment as this site doesn't allow you to do so.

Who were they playing, McCracken County, Male, Ballard or Bullitt East?

Well that Owen County Catcher must be incredible because from what I have read this kid is pretty fast. Of Course, I am aware of a freshmen in Jefferson County, who has now stolen 16 bases against all teams in the top 20 in the state, not been thrown out once and she's pretty fast. Would like to match them up together!

Great read! Is she still playing for Southern Force or has she moved to another organization. It is great to see these kids succeed when they are unleashed into competition by their coaches!

Walk-off two run homerun by Junior Centerfielder Kaylee Tow, who is the best non-pitcher that I have seen this season. I think someone on here said she has already been offered and committed to Alabama. Huge bomb to Centerfield off Senior Pitcher Jenny Chapman from McCracken County.

Haley Whitmer pitched first 4 2/3 innings and Anabelle Ramirez finished last 2 1/3. Huge win for Assumption as 7 of their 13 losses have been by 1 or 2 runs and all to teams in Top 20 in the State. I still like Butler to win the 6th Region but agree that both the 6th and 7th Region tourneys are going to be great softball!
