  1. RA Jones and Twenhofel played tonight, 8th grade. RA Jones won by 9, played a great defense on Twenhofel and came away with a big win! Coach Todd Humphrey, as I've told others before, does a great job coaching. He has totally turned around RA Jones over the last couple of years after a successful run at Ockerman. The kids at RA buy into his coaching and concepts and it works. He has done wonders with their program!
  2. Tonight Ockerman played host to Camp Ernst. 6th grade Camp Ernst won, 7th grade OMS won in a tight game, and 8th grade Camp Ernst held on to win by 5. Cole Shumate, Donovan Robinson and Teon Neale led OMS tonight, was a great game all around. 8th grade game Parker Fields led OMS with 17 points in a losing effort. Coach Kanarek does a great job with Camp Ernst, he has them playing well!
  3. Ockerman traveled to Grant County Monday and the 7th and 8th grade Ockeman teams won. Cole Shumate led the OMS 7th grade with 23 points, including 5 3-pointers. He out scored Grant County in the game. In the 8th grade game Graves Fryman with 14 and Parker Fields with 13 led OMS.
  4. Ockerman 7th grade won tonight by 20 over Beechwood in the Turkeyfoot tournament, remaining undefeated on the year. Cole Shumate led Ockerman with 15 points and Donovan Robinson added 9 points (3-4 from 3 point range). Teon Neale added 9 points also. OMS plays again tomorrow at 5:05 pm against Campbell County. Ockerman 8th grade won easily over St. Henry tonight in the Turkeyfoot tournament also. Parker Fields led OMS with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the first half. Graves Fryman added 8 points.
  5. Ockerman traveled to Hebron tonight to take on Conner. 6th grade Conner won easily, Landen Hamilton played a great game for Conner. 7th grade game Ockerman remained undefeated, winning by 20. Ockerman was led by Cole Shumate and Donovan Robinson, both in double figures, and Tyler Krohman added 7 points. 8th grade game was won easily by Conner. Conner was led by Riley Osterbur with 19 points and Ethan Ginn with 8 points. Ockerman was led by Graves Fryman with 13 and Parker Fields with 9. Ginn controlled the pace tonight and was a one man press at times. Conner, when they play together, are a load to deal with. They looked impressive tonight
  6. In the same tourney Beechwood 8th grade defeated Ockerman 65-50. Game wasn't as close as the final score. Ockerman was led by Parker Fields with 16 and Austin Gemmer with 13. Beechwood is always fun to watch, they move the ball so well and look out for each other the whole game. As an opponent they are a load to deal with. Shame they aren't in the upper division, not everybody gets to see them play.
  7. In the Turkeyfoot Christmas tourney today, 7th grade Ockerman defeated Highlands 39-23. Ockerman was led in scoring by Corbin Fletcher with 17 and Cole Shumate with 14. If there is anybody faster with the basketball than Shumate I'd be shocked. He's quick with such good moves. Fletcher shoots well for a big man, great game out of him today.
  8. Ockerman 8th grade wins tonight at Gray 40-36. Good game, back and forth with a very large crowd and great atmosphere. Parker Fields led Ockerman with 19 points, while Tyler Bush led Gray with 14 points.
  9. Ockerman traveled to IHM tonight. Sixth grade Ockerman won easily, seventh grade Ockerman also won easily, led by Cole Shumate and Donovan Robinson with 12 points each. 8th grade game was a good game, with IHM winning 58-47. Wyatt Vieth led IHM with 19 points, followed by Corey Shea with 14 and Jude Bessler with 11. Parker Fields scored a game-high 31 points for Ockerman, while Graves Fryman added 11 points.
  10. Ockerman traveled to Woodland last night and swept the 3 games. All 3 games were VERY physical, refs let them play. Cole Shumate led 7th grade Ockerman with 14 points, all in the 2nd half. 8th grade game Ockerman was led by Parker Fields (10 pts 15 reb), Graves Fryman (10 points) and Austin Gemmer (10 points). Woodland 8th grade of course is not the same without the players who moved up, but they played well together and battled.
  11. Ockerman and Highlands played tonight in Fort Thomas. Highlands 6th grade won big, Ockerman 7th grade won by double digits. 8th grade game was won 42-40 on a last second shot by Highlands. 7th grade game Barth played well for Highlands, while Cole Shumate, Donovan Robinson, Teon Neale and Corbin Fletcher played well for Ockerman. 8th grade game Clukey, Muller and Fahlbush all played very well Parker Fields led Ockerman with 17 points and double digit rebounds. Highlands may have moved 3 or so players up to freshman, but they have several nice players on this team.
  12. Exact same team as last year. They've all grown and worked in the offseason. Core group plays a lot of basketball year round.
  13. Twenhofel and Ockerman played tonight at Ockerman. 6th grade Twenhofel won, 7th grade Ockerman won big, and 8th grade Twenhofel won. Cole Shumate and Donovan Robinson played well for Ockerman 7th. Parker Fields for Ockerman and Nate Walker for Twenhofel played well in the 8th grade game. Coach Batsche has the 7th grade Ockerman team playing great, undefeated and a running clock in each game.
  14. Hailey Anderson of Cooper is always, and I mean always, overlooked on these list of top players in the region. I had the good fortune of coaching her in middle school, so I know how hard the young lady works, how much passion she has for the game, and how far she's come over the last several years. She is as versatile a player as you could find in this region. She can play inside, she can play outside, she can handle the ball, she can shoot from the perimeter, and is a great teammate and leader. She seems forgotten whenever these lists or all region honors come out at the end of the year. I know the coaches in the area think highly of her, I just don't get how she gets overlooked.
  15. I want to thank ALL of the coaches in Northern Kentucky softball for being such great people and, above all, great friends. I try to relay to people who aren't coaches just how great the comraderie and friendships are among all the coaches, how we are all interested in the well-being of all of our players, families, and coaches, regardless of school affiliation. Over the last 2 months I've dealt with the ICU hospitalization of my mother, which consumed most of my time. Last week she passed away, and the outpouring of support from so many coaches in NKY blew me away. I can't thank you all enough for the prayers, support, and messages during this time. Chris Burkhart, Craig Milburn, Joe Stephenson - thanks to you all in particular for the great messages. I greatly appreciate them! And of course thanks to my right hand man Dan Curtis, one of the finest people on this planet! Thanks again to everyone! Coach Tony Fields
  16. As I said in the other thread, she has stolen 29 bases and 14 game. No where did I mention, or anyone else reply, that she stole these bases against the top 10 teams in the state of Kentucky. We are building a program at Cooper, we aren't ready to play the top 10 teams day in and day out. But that doesn't diminish what one of my players has done. No one is trying to take anything away from your team, so please try not to do it to us.
  17. RocketsDad, I can assure you that's accurate. The girl from Bullitt East may be the best base stealer in the state, but that doesn't mean Kayari doesn't have 29 stolen bases. I've been coaching 30 years and believe me we DON'T pad stats. I can't stand when teams do that, especially with hits. She's stolen 2nd and 3rd on consecutive pitches 5 times this year. We don't count passed ball or wild pitch advancement as steals. She's had 6 steals in a game twice this year.
  18. Not sure why all stats didn't show but here are more: 11th grade center fielder Hailey Nicholas - .256 average, 7 stolen bases, 8 runs, 3 doubles 10th grade right fielder Taylor Keener - .350 average, 1 HR, 8 RBI 12th grade 2nd baseman Angeline Dames - .237 average, 3 doubles, 8 RBI
  19. I just wanted to get some of our girl's stats out there early, especially with all conference voting coming soon. Through 14 games: 8th grade shortstop Kayari Suganuma - .500 average, 23 runs scored, 29 stolen bases, 2 triples 9th grade 3rd baseman Allana Matteson - .419 average, 15 runs scored, 21 RBI, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers 11th grade left fielder Colleen Hume - .341 average, 14 runs, 16 stolen bases 11th grade catcher Cayla Petrowski - .355 average, .487 OBP, 1 HR, 8 RBI 10th grade pitcher Alex Dummitt - .308 average, 12 runs scored, 8 RBI, 7 Wins 11th grade 1st baseman Christina Luehrmann - .273 average, 9 RBI
  20. Last night at Conner, Ockerman boys swept all three games. Coach Smith, Coach Batsche, and Coach Combs all doing a good job!
  21. Ockerman Middle School swept all three games last night against Gray Middle. Great atmosphere last night at Ockerman for "Blackout Night".
  22. Great game in the 7th grade championship game of the Dayton Christmas tournament tonight. Woodland defeated Ockerman 42-33. Great games by Kelly Neace and Grant Proffit of Woodland and Parker Fields and Jack Tucker for Ockerman.
  23. As a coach for almost 30 years, it is always fun to get to watch the middle school kids develop as players, and then follow them as they get into high school. I know I'll be missing a lot of names on this list, but wanted to throw out some 7th grade players to watch (players I have either seen through AAU, coached in AAU, or school league games): Conner - Riley Osterbur / Gabe Workman / Ethan Ginn / Spencer Couzins / Luke Couzins / Brennan McNamara Ockerman - Parker Fields / Jeremiah Lee / Ryan Goodridge Highlands - Sam Vinson / Hergott Grant County - Blake Robinson / Jackson Smallwood Gray - Tyler Bush IHM - Wyatt Vieth / Jude Bessler / Corey Shea Summit View - Wilfredo Hernandez Woodland - Kelly Neace / Grant Proffit Just wanted to get a list rolling, I'll add more as soon as I can. Please feel free to add to the list!
  24. As allsport71 said, thanks for everything you do for NKY softball Lawnboy! It is greatly appreciated by all of us!
