Does this win by south speak more for south or less for OC? Be interesting how this shakes the region and lit rankings. South can flat out play and will be force in the 8th.

South Oldham has talent and potential, but that doesn't win you games. They have 8 of their top 10 back from last year 85% of their scoring returning. South, as usual, will live and die by the 3. They have some excellent shooters with Williams, Bouvet, Griffin, Fields and Bray who can all light it up at any time. With their depth, they will apply constant pressure all game. Their defense needs to generate some offense. Last year's experience should help them this year.

now with Devon Coopers departure to Vegas, I'm guessing Waggener is no longer the favorite for the 7th. (they were not my choice with him). It definitely changes things for them.

I agree with you that Shelby is not 3rd best team in region without Gordon. Manika is an excellent player though. South Oldham should be much improved. They 5 seniors returning and 9 of their top 10 from last year. Region 8 should be one of the more wide open regions and exciting to watch week to week. Plus there are a lot of outstanding coaches. Can't wait to get it going!

8th region is expected to be wide open this year. It could finally be Owen's year to make it to Lexington while Oldham County will be solid as usual. However, South Oldham returns 4 starters, their top 3 scorers and 10 players who saw significant varsity time last year. They struggled last year after back to back Sweet 16 visits, but with the experience and depth, could be another run for Simpson and the Dragons.
