Having seen OC on film I feel as though they can play with anyone in their class. They had a couple chances to beat Owensboro but let Special teams beat them in the end. They will be a tough out in the playoffs. I understand the not being able to find people to play. People think its easy and that you can just call and match up schedules and be done but Christian Co has had lots of trouble in past too. They had to play a home and away with Knoxville Fulton the last 2 years.- 64 replies

Crittenden Co is a tough place to play if you are not ready for bad calls and fans right on top of the field, plus there is no easy way to get there from Russellville. I still think the tigers have too much for the Rockets though. Crittenden keeps it close for a half before Russellville pulls away 36-13.

Christian Co tried to schedule O Cath but they would not play, wonder why if they have had so much trouble finding teams to play and since they wanted to play Hopkinsville?- 64 replies

Another good performance came from Christian Co Sophomore Ziyon Kenner. 121 yds on the ground, 66 receiving and an 80 yd Kickoff return for a score.- 64 replies

Bluegrasspreps' Class 5A Rankings (10/5)
SomewhereOffTheMap replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
Eagle they have steadily gotten better as the year has gone on. The freshman QB is going to be really good, they always find big guys and a running back. I just don't know how good they will be by the end of the year. Time is running out and that region is very tough as always. They should return strong in years to come though, I do not seem them staying down for long. -

They have played every year for a long time. Has not been a district game in a while but has been a pretty heated rivalry that usually has some good games. This should continue in the years to come, especially now that they are district foes. Hopkinsville is getting back to its winning ways after a few years in the gutter and MNHHS is having a tough season but will not stay down long. Should be a good game for years to come.- 71 replies

I can't disagree on the Caldwell being ahead of Christian. A lot has changed since the first game of the year and those Tigers have been on a roll ever since that game. Only one I questioned was Hoptown because they had a bye week after the Christian Co loss and then beat a Madisonville team that is just not very good. I understand that this fluid though and look forward to next weeks. Thanks for doing this each week.- 71 replies

Looks about right. Only thing that could be argued would be Hopkinsville above Christian Co. I know the Colonels just got beat pretty bad but the Tigers last game before this week was a Two TD (nearly 3) loss to the Colonels. The Colonels two losses are against teams in your top 4 and 2 of their wins are against teams ahead of them. Always an interesting read though.:thumb:- 71 replies

Christian County 42 Hopkinsville 28
SomewhereOffTheMap replied to Randy Parker's topic in KY Football (High School)
Silo, I agree that Hoptown missed some opportunities but as far as saying the score could have been flipped I don't really see that. County Lead by 21 most the 2nd half and also had a pick 6 that was taken off the board. Hoptown got their last score with 41 secs left to make the final score. I do believe it could've been a much tighter game though if plays go a little differently. Two good football teams and I do not see Hopkinsville losing again until playoffs. As for County and Owensboro, it should be a very good game. I think everyone looks at the BG scores and judges Christian Co by that but think that score is a little deceiving and Colonels are always a team that are much improved later in the year. Game is at Owensboro and should be for the district championship. Think it will be a good one. Louisville_Cards please stop. Understand being excited about your team but do it with respect, as a colonel fan you are embarrassing. -
Caldwell County/Henderson County predictions
SomewhereOffTheMap replied to gchs_uk9's topic in KY Football (High School)
If Caldwell can stop the Run they should win by 2 or 3 TDs. Henderson struggles to stop the pass. -
Turnovers always make a huge difference in ball games. I think Christian Co. has a much higher upside but will they play up to their potential? Hopkinsville is a good football team and has been playing well. Both teams have athletes that can make plays. I think Christian Co. has a slight size advantage in the trenches but they had trouble picking up Hopkinsville's blitzes last year. I don't think either locker room will be underestimating the other team. Should be a good atmosphere and good high school football game.

Officiating in the WKC
SomewhereOffTheMap replied to the game guy's topic in KY Football (High School)
Throwing flags after they watch to see outcome of a play, throwing flags when coaches question a call (and I mean truly just questioning, not yelling/cussing the official), waving off a penalty any time a specific official throws a flag, having multiple stoppages to discuss calls where conferences last more than 30 seconds. These are just a few things, I could probably come up with a few more. I am not saying this happens often but I have seen this in the last couple years at a couple of games I attended. As a stated earlier though, luckily I have not seen that this year. -
Officiating in the WKC

In the games I have watched there have been missed calls but there haven't been officials who are wanting to be seen or affect the game. That is a definite plus. -
State Championship Games Location
SomewhereOffTheMap replied to WhoYaWith's topic in KY Football (High School)
If everyone is focused on making it "fair" as far as travel distances than Lindsey Wilson College is about as centrally located as you are going to get. It is just not a big enough stadium (Although it is a nice small facility) and town is not big enough. With WKU, EKU, UK, or UofL someone always ends up traveling a lot farther than other teams. I like the idea of 2 year rotations. 2 at WKU and then 2 at EKU, once it is renovated. The larger stadiums just don't provide quite the atmosphere for the event and Richmond/Bowling Green are cities that are capable of hosting. -
4A #7 Hopkinsville at 2A #5 Murray
SomewhereOffTheMap replied to DragonFire's topic in KY Football (High School)
Having seen both teams play it should be a good game, if Murray is healthy. Hopkinsville has lots of speed at the skilled position but seems a little weak in the trenches where Murray is much stronger. I like Murray in a close one. I will say 34-28. Again that is only if Murray can get back to health.
