Great analysis, RAM. In Region 2, I know that KCD really wants a second shot at Holy Cross and may look past Ludlow. Big mistake if that's the case. Here's my breakdown of the advantages both sides have in that first round game: Home Field-- Ludlow QB--Ludlow (Justin Blackburn is a tough, heady, football savvy young man who "does it all on the FB field) RBs & Recievers--KCD (deep at both positions) Line--Ludlow(looks to be size advantage here) Defense--Ludlow(opponent points scored much lower than KCD this year..KCD has struggled defensively with teams that have a mobile, "tuck and run" QB) Kicking Game--KCD (kickoffs especially) Strength of Schedule--KCD (Ludlow played Beechwood & Paris, two powerhouse 1a teams.....KCD played Lexington Christian, Adair County, Washington Co, Bethlehem & Campbellsville, teams with .500 or better records in higher classifications or 1a teams with winning records) Litkenhous Ratings--KCD(does anybody really believe in these at all, are they predictive at all?) Based on whom they have beaten, whom they hung with for a half or more and emotional, momentum building wins last Friday night, I'll pick both Raceland and KCD in 1a to "upset" the higher seed this week.

Ugly game with roughly 10 fumbles and a couple of interceptions. That said, this was a big deal for KCD to come back from 14 points down at halftime and play such stifling defense in the second half. Stars for the game on offense, QB Jarred Frank who ran very hard all night, and on defense, Gianni Minor with two picks and Josh Lifson who had a number of solo tackles for losses.

Have viewed a bunch of tape on Campbellsville. They look quick and athletic. They lost a squeaker to Bethlehem, KCD won big at Bethlehem. I don't think that's a fair predictor of the outcome...I think it'll be @ a 3 or 4 point spread. Winner has fewest turnovers.

Holy Cross is on a roll for several reasons, mistake free football, a special running back, team defense, and (this last is a guess) emotional momentum. From a historical perspective, Fairdale will bring a deeper team with a few more ponies to this game. Toss up, with a slight edge to Fairdale.

As I suspected, you can pretty much fill in the entire bracket. Thanks, gentlemen.

Someone far smarter than me who has done the research....summarize what's left to determine in the overall 1A brackets with the final regular season games. I don't believe there are a great many questions left unanswered as far as seeding goes, but would love a summary.

Senior night for KCD, always a wild card when it comes to emotions and mindset to play. WHAS 11 game of the week, should have a few extra folks out for that. Might be a really fun game to watch if KCD defense has one of its' better days. The performance this team put in at Bethlehem stands out as the best complete performance all year.

Defense has been a bugaboo for KCD. This team can score, has a few pretty talented receivers and some decent speed with its primary backs. But defending mobile QBs?....that's been kryptonite for the Bearcats. If C'ville has one, it'll be tough for KCD.

Deshawn Newton, Frankfort's QB put on a show with his legs, lots of arm tackles and kids who were out of position for KCD in this one. The Bearcat defense regressed back to some of it's pre-Bethlehem issues. KCD also shot itself in the foot with critical errors on both sides of the ball. Penalties and turnovers to be specific. Watching the tape, it was a mixed bag for effort on KCD's part with Frankfort a little more motivated. With Campbellsville coming to Louisville next weekend, the re-bound will be VERY challenging for the Bearcats.

I am wondering about the dynamic in district 3, specifically in the Frankfort game. is Robinson ready to return? There's plenty of talent at Frankfort, but a lot of younger guys who made their share of youthful mistakes against a well oiled HC squad that didn't turn the ball over and weren't penalized much at all. If Robinson suits up and good to go, what might be a close match up with KCD becomes something different entirely. And if he returns and is ready to go, with a #2 seed and a healthy AR, how far can Frankfort go in the playoffs? Seems crazy talking about a 1 and 7 team. But he's a difference maker.

A battle for the #2 seed in District 3, and much sought after home opener to the playoffs. Frankfort's long held district win streak halted last week with a turnover filled shutout by Holy Cross. KCD led HC 21-20 heading into the 4th quarter of its'loss to HC. Is Robinson returning for Frankfort this week? Can KCD defense hang with Frankfort's athleticism and speed? Who has the edge here in Frankfort Friday night?

Last year the specific instance was in the District that included Bethlehem, Holy Cross, KCD and Caverna. Caverna was winless, but the other three teams all had 2-1 records. As it turned out, Holy Cross and Bethlehem beat more teams who went on to win more games than KCD's opponents. The seeding ended up Holy Cross #1, Bethlehem #2 and KCD#3. That's how seeding based on SOS was determined.

L My experience with tiebreakers for district seeding came last year, so the rules may have changed. Last year, the teams you beat were given points for the rest of the wins they accumulate throughout the season. Those are compared to the teams the other schools in the tie breaker situation beat and their cumulative points. Bottom line, the advantage goes to your strength of schedule and if you beat a few teams that rack up a bunch of wins the rest of the season.

RC started in the second quarter. Word from KCD that the kids from Eminence kept playing hard and kept it clean late. Nice group of young men.

Final

Looks like Evan Perry ran for three scores and Mario Cavanuto recovered a fumble for another TD. Frankfort threw a couple of pics as well. Was not at this game, but it looks on paper like a pretty one sided affair. What the heck happened here? Frankfort looked loaded with speed despite the key injury to Robinson.

Final

And that's another wonderful mystery. Frankfort has some young men with raw athletic talent, a great tradition within the district and the wild card of "when's he gonna show up again, and what's he capable of." Kinda fun all the way around.

With or without Robinson(who didn't play last Friday) believe Frankfort has edge with athletes in the skill slots. The streak continues this Friday...and the next Friday as well against KCD.

Watched the tape on both teams in the upcoming HC/Frankfort game. I believe Frankfort's athleticism will be too much for a very disciplined HC team. No one has weighed in yet if Robinson plays for Frankfort on Friday. He did not play last Friday, but scuttlebut had him emerging from injury right about now. He would be extremely dangerous against HC.

Young man named Jordan West. Has played a number of positions on defense in practice these past two weeks,but is unlikely to play much or at all tonight. Will be a nice addition to the sophmore class that is the core of KCD in the future, but not sure much of a factor tonight. And tut-tut, the weather folk got it wrong again.(Meteorologists have the best job security in North America). Now looks like showers at game time at HC. Favors the home team big time.

Word around the camp fire is that the effort has been lacking big time at KCD practices this week. And that the recent soph transfer from Trinity is an unlikely player for them this week. The weather is looking better for KCD, but too many other signs point to a HC victory. 30-14 --HC into it more than the Bearcats this week. Too bad, figured to be a good game.
