  1. Wouldn't ask a girl to strike out. But stepping off is common and has to be done in situations like this. It's done in college too.
  2. Terrible. Have the decency to step off base once you get to the run rule limit. And if this isn't a required district game - don't schedule it to begin with.
  3. I don't know if the weather is going to allow it to be too great.
  4. Just a scrimmage but Woodford twitter says 4 HR and a no hitter. Someone told me it was 9-0 after 1st inning. They brought up a bunch of 8th graders from that KY Firecrackers team so I'm pretty sure no varsity plays JV. The pitcher was probably one of the 8th graders. Their #3 didn't pitch because the varsity game only went 6.
  5. Woodford 17 Assumption 0. 6 inning varsity game.
  6. Highlands/Ryle vs Woodford on May 14th. It's on KHSAA now.
  7. Yeah I saw Highland ans Ryle just added a doubleheader with Woodford for May.
  8. Coaches who are members of the KSCA and who took the time to submit ballots I assume. I think each region coaches vote for their own region.
  9. Yeah there were no preseason top players from region 9 either.
  10. Am I going crazy or did posts disappear?
  11. Yes. 7th and 8th graders are eligible to play up. I think the regulations that came out a couple of years ago restrict kids under 7th grade from playing up.
  12. I think some of it is the growing divide between rec ball/casual players and travel ball players. I have seen some girls who would be a safety risk if they were put on the same field with the more advanced girls. So I think softball is losing some of those casual players who used to have a place on high school teams. I don't know if they are going to other sports or quitting all sports, but I see it.
  13. I hardly think a tiny private school not fielding a team is a sign that KY is headed in the wrong direction. It's definitely unfortunate for a handful of kids, but I don't think it means anything about the state of softball in KY in the big picture.
  14. Jessie Tucker transferred to Scott County from what I heard.
  15. Saw on facebook that Ariel Dailey from Woodford committed to Lousiana Tech. Jenny Chapman is also committed/signed there. That's at least 5 D1 commits or signings for Woodford that I've seen.
  16. Point of this is to start a conversation right? Throw out some names. I don't know all of those names but 12 of them are committed to D1 schools so it's hard to argue with that. If you're looking for someone from every region, then no, you're not going to get the top 15 across the state.
  17. Kendall's not on that Stunners team that I know of. I think she's now with Dobina's Sluggers after Southern Force 99 blew up. That team has 2 or 3 off this list as well.
  18. Trying to think through other names... Kendall Smith probably should be on that list too.
  19. It is a great class - a lot of D1 talent and early commits, some to the biggest schools in the softball world. It's also great that many of them chose to stay with KY-based travel teams. 6 of the girls on that list play on 1 team.
  20. I agree. I enjoy reading the lists, nothing better to do to pass the time for the next couple of months until games start. Also provides a little scouting haha! I was surprised to see it show up multiple times the last couple days, particularly the NSR scout. Nothing against the player being promoted - I've talked with NSR and I know they get paid a pretty penny to rep players, so he's just doing his job. But in this case, even if it's an innocent mistake, he's promoting something as fact that for all he knows could have been written by the girl's own father on one of these boards!
  21. Bobby, I think you have a future in the online recruit ranking game, seeing as though FB is now being populated with references to these rankings as if they're something more than just one person's opinion. Saw one where an NSR scout posted it as if it was an official list published by Bluegrass Preps and that the number was her actual ranking (which you of course point out it is not). People getting out of control with this stuff. It's all in good fun while we wait for the season to start. This is where the whole recruiting game has become almost as important as the games themselves, and it's sad.
  22. She can't technically sign today though right? Probably just having the ceremony? I thought the NLI signing period wasn't until the 11th through the 18th.
  23. Halie Fain is Scott County's 3B. Plays for Louisville Stunners 99. Committed to UT-Martin.
  24. CF. She can do it all - tall, athletic, good defense/arm, can run/bunt and hit for power. Montana Fouts, a 2018, is also verballed to Alabama. Two KY kids who will be playing at Alabama - pretty cool. It seems like KY is starting to get some exposure as an increasing number of athletes are and will be playing at mid-major and above D1 schools. The last few years KY travel teams have done well at nationals at the 14/16U level. We're going to see a bunch of talent playing D1.
