I cannot pretend to know their situation completely but I also cannot see how doing that would be because of the benefit of those 2 players instead of the 8th grade team and coaches. But I would have to think anybody stating it is a possibility of happening is speculation as well.

Good question. Parents were talking the beginning of the year why participating there instead of Turkeyfoot's Christmas tournament right up the road and with large school opponents. But parents don't decide. All that said, last year was not like this at the tournament either so hard to make that decision prior based on the unorganization that took place.

Sore subject. Very unorganized and didn't prescheduled games. All teams wanted it to be over last weekend but Dayton didn't have court time available.

Final score was 37-26

I agree with most all of the recent statements. I as a parent and fan can honestly try to watch the game, not yell our except to be encouraging but am not innocent of yelling other things time to time either. Samcro made some very good points that what I see one game and you see the next couple be two very different things. I completely agree that the Highlands/SV games got very out of hand last year from both sides, on and off the court. And unfortunately has continued into this year. Videos by parents can be used for multiple purposes but the parent videoing our games last year provided each family dvd copies of a couple games last year that we were very grateful for, so again two sided and can go either way. All of that being said, the second half of my the schedules are starting back up and I say good luck to every kid and team.

If you have the time to do so then be my guest. I would be curious to hear the observations. I agreed that it's not only Highland parents and still agree. I doubt that any school doesn't have parents yelling stuff out during close games, I also didn't start this conversation but chimed in because saying the Highland parents don't do these things would be untrue as well. I also early in this thread voiced my opinion because individuals were calling out Highland players and I didn't like that people were calling out 8th grade boys.

It is, that is what he was ejected for which is why I reference it that way. As I stated, I did not see it happen so don't have much of an opinion on the call itself.

I believe it was the regular season game at Summit View. I don't have a big opinion on the court call myself, I wasn't looking behind the ball which is where it took place.

I don't see where bball5088 says they are the only parents and obviously aren't. But it is pretty bad and to think it is not is very one sided.

I have seen it but seen it called too. Your example of to the left really stood out to me because of last night. He was clearly moving his feet after catching the ball and I am a parent of a kid on the team that was getting away with it.

The both feet slide to the left was a circumstance in a middle school game last night. The opposing coach kept trying the refs to look for it on one particular player and it was never called but happened 3 or 4 times, and was a travel. 2 of them were made 3's

Why is anybody calling out teenage boys? I have seen some things I don't agree with and not just from HMS. Let's all keep in mind they are all still kids and have some learning to do, mentally and physically. There are some intense games that get dicey but in my opinion it is up to the refs and coaches to control those situations. If there are questionable situations then it's as much up to them, the adults in control, as the player that is learning, to fix it and help them learn from it for going forward.

Correct with both teams decimated they were 1-1 Only game with both having all of their players went to overtime and Highlands leading 1-0 Teams are fun to watch play each other and could play each other up to 4 more times this year.

I agree, there doesn't have to be any underlying reason for a kid to decide to not play up. They played the last 2 years with a group and may just want to play the last year of middle school with their friends. With Jefferson there is a lot of speculation with why he is at Beechwood, where he will go to high school, and questions about why he is playing 8th instead of up. No matter what his family and him made a decision and good for him. Beechwood is good academics and environment for any teenager. Good for him! From what I have seen, he is not just a good ball player but a good young man who conducts himself well.

A lot of these smaller schools also have the same kids playing together from 1st grade on. St Pius kids play in the Catholic league together from early grades and have continuity. WV from what I have seen does a good job of getting the kids playing together in elementary school. Larger schools have a lot more kids but come from numerous elementary schools and have never been on the court together in some cases.

Nobody will likely challenge Beechwood in the small school division so it is hard to have a discussion based on them. I am curious to know results when they play over Christmas. There should be some good games. If Beechwood played in the large school division and Jared Hicks didn't move up then there would be 6 relevant teams in the discussion for the large school 8th grade "cream of the crop" but as of right now, I agree there are 4 top teams (for the 8th grade large school division).

Huddleston played half the 2nd quarter and most of the 2nd half. He had a wrap on his hand. The device was only a shooting sleeve.
