Taylor is not lost with out their big producers. Witness Goodin's first half absence in region win over Bardstown. In most of the games I have seen they started Goodin, Berry, Woods, Webster, and Ezra Oliver. Cameron Morgenson provides offense off the bench with a 8+ ppg avg, the 4th leading scorer on the team. He may have been the game MVP in the 5th region championship. Correct me if I am wrong, please. Devin Rafferty will be very productive next year after Berry and Webster graduate. I missed John Chewing on my big man post above. He is big: 6-5 or 6 and heavy. His stats don't show it, but I believe his insertion in to the N. Hardin/Taylor home game turned the game around late in the 2nd half with his inside presence and pounding of the boards. At least the widening of the winning scoring margin increased while he was playing.

Is this a new development? I sat next to Quinton's mother at Jock Sutherland. She said they had not had any contact from KU, at that time. Does Kentucky recruit Kentucky players? I think Calapari's lack of interest in Kentucky players is a bit condenscending. In fact, I think Calapari's basketball guru personna more than a bit condenscending, but somewhat humerous. I say" Put Kentucky players back into Kentucky basketball!"

Taylor's Webster is 6-4 or 6-5 senior who is aggresive defensively and will foul to avoid lay-ups There is not much offense ran his way.. His replacement is an underclassman, Rafferty. This young man is about the same size as Webster. He appears to have long arms and I think can offer some offense, both down low and in the mid-range.

I am counting on Elkins to have another sterling defensive game, shutting down the inside for the Rebels. Still, I predict a tight game, 61-60 Boyle!

Well, the outcome may have been different if the big man was skilled and came do play. That may be an area where the Cardinals are vulnerable because they don't have extrodanary height. A skilled 6-8 player can have quite an impact in HIgh School. Can someone tell me about the size of Hop-Town?

I'm rooting for Taylor; they are in our district. The regular season matchup of Hop coming to Taylor on the last game of regular season was high on my "games to see" list. The weather didn't cooperate, so I'll be going to Lexington to see the matchup when it really Matters!

The reason he came off the bench was given to me by coaching staff immediatly before the game "....well, if you don't play hard in practice". The rumor was pretty well founded. From different player's parents I learned that Dom did in fact leave practice in which he was loafing, and walk home. He came back to Coach at some time and apologized to Coach. The coach asked the team if Dominique was welcomed back on the team. The team agreed, yes. The "dining with a Taylor assistant" story is consistent from both Greensburg and Taylor County. Compton and Taylor assistant coach Chase Cox have a mutual friend. Dom a HS junior is what, 17 YO. Chase a recent grad of LIndsey Wilson is around 23, my guess. These 3 friends, and probably others, all from the same age group, were having burgers at one of the Campbellsville fast food joints after a night of district play. My guess is the boys were talkin' about girls, cars, trucks and fishin', and wore out from basketball. So, at this point, I will choose to call it normal, young people, neighborly conduct. Others are adament that it was meddling. We would probably not be alking about this if the one who 'caught" them was not the son of Campbellsville High Coach Davis. YOung Davis went and informed his Dad who came back with a digital and was taking pictures of the conspiracy through the glass windows. I understand Cox came outside and told him somthing to the affect that if we were cheating we would do it a more discreet location. As I have stated before, this accounting was given to me consistently from Green and Taylor fans alike, one with family ties to the Taylor staff. That was really slick prediction I made, huh? White and Elkins battling for the rebound crown! Yeah they were 7th and 9th in rebounding this year but will be only the 6th and 7th returning rebounders! MY apologies to Malik Dow, Slade Crutchfield, Nick Gillispie, Spencer McKinney and Lucas Gentry, all 12 region underclassmen who topped my boys in boards per game. I have only seen Gentry play, who I guessed to be about 6-4 and big built, over 200#, if my memory serves me correctly. Can anybody guestimate the height and weight of the other 4 big rebounders?

From what I have seen, I second your Pp92 compliment. And I hope you are right about Boyle and the final 4. That will give Elkins valuable extra experienced against top talent and probably players more his size. If he plays well, the exposure will help his future immensely. Maybe he will become the monster I initially thought him to be!

I may be over-hyping Elkins Lincoln game at home, but I believe it was the most dominating defensive game I have ever seen. He scored only 3 points, but he dictated the outcome of the game. Lincoln was cold from out and had to get something started inside. Elkins thwarted everything they brought to him by blocking shots and retreiving, clogging, changing their shots and commanding the boards. An old man sitting next to me said he thought the boy had already signed with Perdue. Being a Perdue fan, I thought that was great, but I figgured bigger dogs would be calling. So I came back to region 5 crowing about the big 10 signee I had seen, who dominated a game while scoring only 3 points! After I watched the Boyle at Southwestern game, I suspected the old man may have been wrong. Gaskins seemed to get the best of him that night! But I am sure he will continue to improve and a top player in region 12 next year.

Yes, a Rebel/Rebel matchup will be more competitive next year! I saw Casey's first game of the season at home against Marion Co. Casey won the high scoring run and gun battle in OT. I perceived it to be a gang rebound war that Marion won 42/28. Marion went on to become the 5th leading rebounding team in the state, 36.8/gm, but had a lack-luster performance in wins and losses. That phenomona perplexes me! They did not make the region, getting stopped by Adair after beating them 3 times. Casey needs to review their stats. They show about a 12.5 rebound a game average on the team page, but 30.7 when the individual stats are tallied. White was not eligible that night and I only have seen him once. He left me with the impression that he will not accept being blocked-out. He seems to be a (not-to-big) big man who haas no illusions of granduer of being a Michael Jordan on the wing. I hope next year he maintains his myopic perspective of staying on the boards. I wonder if Maze Stallworth's Morehead teammate, Kenneth Faired, has had any input into Casey and White on the subject of rebounding? Purple, can you post a 12 Region rebounding leader list?

Agreed! I think Casey's emergence into a top regional team will be apparent early next season. I predict an all league year for D.J. White and he will top Elkins for the rebounding champiionship!

Great story and observations! You articulated well the emotions of having a son to be on the court at Rupp in an official capacity: A member of a champion regional team, about to compete in the Kentucky sweet 16. (I don't need to relate how tough the 12 is) Folks seem to discount the role players, non-starters and bench warmers on the teams. A coach nows the importance of these kids as practice players and that their effort is sometimes more than the stars on the teams. CONGRATULATIONS!

Quentin is the leader of the Cardinals, with his play and his trash-talking! In the N. Hardin semi-final his was warned at the onset about trash-talking. It seemed to me he was smirking as they were warning him. The warning was an idle threat, because his mouth kept yaping the whole game along with the smirking and head bobbing. Sloan came to Taylor last year fixin' to show these country boys some stuff. He was a hot dog with no relish. I have been quite impressed with his exempleary demeanour this year along with his steady-eddy play. His play has shown maturity beyond his age. But he dissapointed me in the final by taunting after a good play. The Cardinals exude confidence on the floor which is appreciated, but their court-demeanor is disturbing at times.
