As I said in a previous post, it was more of a perfect storm for manual two weeks ago. Central also had a key football player play his first game and gave some key minutes that would've limited a lesser player in the first game. Also, central's big man is up to about 80-85% now and getting healthier by the week. Had three huge blocks, a couple of steals, & a few deflections in about 12-15 mins, and his athleticism is unmatched by most in the state. The scary part is, they still have a starting senior guard that's been out with a knee injury since the day after their waggener win. He'll probably come back in limited action in the l I t next week.

I wonder what's the deal with Male this year. I know Oldham County has been the better team and I expected them to win, but from appearance it seems as if Male has more talent and size (with bigs that can actually play) than most teams in the state. They've been fairly underwhelming so far this season. I still believe that they're a fairly dangerous team and can beat any team on any given night in the state though.

Don't know if you want to call it struggles per say. Was just saying that Central had a decent team (and they still aren't close to 100%). Have a couple of football players that will be in the rotation that didn't even make the trip and won't start playing until next week, and 2 injured starters as I stated in the previous thread. When they blew BE out, people said what's wrong with BE. When they beat Waggener, people said what's wrong with Waggener. They are now 6-4 after this loss, but they have a 5 pt loss to St. X, 6 pt. loss to Oldham County, a slaughter by Manual, and this close loss to Cov. Catholic. Have beaten Male, BE, Waggener and Simon Kenton though. Was just making a statement that they're not bad (and not even close to full strength), as opposed to something being wrong with every team they play.

Thompson 3 rattles out at end. Cov. Catholic escapes with a close win.

Central up 42-40 in 4th.

Cov. Cath up 40-34 at the end of the 3rd.

I'm wondering why Thompson is sitting so long, and he has no fouls and half of Central's points.

I said that their starting big is playing on a bad wheel, and a starting guard (who averages double figures scoring, and led the team in assists) out for at least a month. Plus Manual played great (I described this as the perfect storm earlier). Dwayne Sutton dominated as well.

There's nothing wrong with Bullitt East. Central actually has a pretty good team that not many people are aware of. I'm good friends with Coach Bibby, and he actually has said that he thinks that they are the best team he's had since he's coached at Central (with 2 teams going to the state tourney). Over the summer Central beat Bullitt East and Oldham County by 20+ points, Taylor County by 15, Doss, Covington Catholic (in a game where Central had a 20+ point lead at one point). They've just not been healthy. There starting big made his first start of the season against Bullitt East, and is still only 80% healthy. He had a bad ligament tear in his ankle in October he's still recovering from. He's very explosive, and dunks everything around the basket when healthy. They also have a starting senior guard whose been out with a knee injury for the past few weeks. He may be back for the LIT, but I'm now sure how effective he'll be then. They also have 2 all 7th region players from last year (as sophomores) to help shape a loaded junior class in Wells and Thompson. That Manual game was just a perfect storm for them, and Central is still not at 100%.
