  1. HC by 10. Feel like their bracket was a tougher road to the finals, especially with Etown. I've seen Mason and SK play from other bracket, great teams, but HC a bit too dominant considering they also played 2 top 10 teams in the State in their own region with Holmes and Highlands. 9th region was a great region this year, shows how tough NKY schools were. HC, Holmes, Highlands, SK, Mason...wow.
  2. Wow, with Coffey added on that list, that makes 5 to look out for on Highlands team. That's impressive, should be a fun team to watch this year.
  3. Players to watch for; alphabetical order, stats, brief descrip as to why, others to watch as well. No order, no ranks, no need. Season has not even started, but this gives the general public "non-fanatic softballers" what is generally asked for. Great list, look forward to attending as many as I can, but as usual, I too am busy coaching. Good luck to all this year!! May the best "TEAM" win, on any given day an individual can shine, step up. Anyone can be a leader amongst their teammates, anyone can help lift their team to success, rather than bring them down.
  4. At least the report has stats to back it up the players they picked, not just opinions. This will be a fine year to watch and see who does what. Teams and individuals.
  5. Maybe this thread needs to be deleted like others on BGP that get out of control. Away from any point about what the thread was intended in the first place. If you don't back it up with stats, information that is relevant, then these threads get just as bad as those commercials you see about the real housewives.:ohbrother: Right LB13? As much as I would have liked to see the Highland HS girls win, it is what it is, your either on, or your not.......Congrats to HC, great win against both HHS schools. Good luck at state, well played, well deserved.
  6. If HHS spreads the floor, hits their 3s like they are capable, HC will have nothing to answer to and HHS will win by 10. But if those 3s are missed, inside rebounding may go to HC with their height, it will be a lot closer game and possible OT. If it does, Karma's rim gods may reward the Birds, allowing some to fall, instead of roll out, HHS this time by 2.
  7. No team building shovel removal, not allowed by surface company. Maybe we all can run real fast around the track and melt the ice? Hmm? Oh well, nature will do its deed soon enough.
  8. With outdoor season around the corner, (March 21st for most teams 1st outdoor meet) and snow blasting in the last couple of days, What are you doing to get your track and fields ready? Warmer weather is coming on Saturday and through all of next week. Highlands will be having a team building shovel practice at 10 am on Saturday, moving that snow out, off the track, the infield, and the circles. Bring on Spring!!
  9. And as far as Crystal Bustos, no where in the world would you compare her to Jenny Finch. Crystal had her role, as did Jenny. Different roles, comparing the two is stupid, but yet LB ranks region 9 girls as a whole, not by position.
  10. N Thank you, your the first who actually gave an argument and backed it up with information that makes sence. Your right, D1 is not the end all to end all, but glad you pointed that out. Many kids choose to go to certain colleges for many reasons, it's an honor and a great challenge for them to play at any level considering the work load they face when they get there. As I've clearly said, give me a list of who to look for by position, not a bias by LB on who he thinks is the best, because your comparing apples to oranges. And yes, I did throw it our there at first about #3 , and I made my point. LB opperates on gorilla war fair, throws things out there, waiting for those to bite and attack, sit back and says nothing. Guess I need to learn to ignore him, like most, read it, say nothing, and move along. Thank you, have a great year.
  11. Uuu Sounds like you want to start drama and throw my name in with Coach Coffey? Be very careful sir, have nothing of the upmost respect for him and my comments have nothing to do with him at all and you know it!!!
  12. Guess I can't delete/edit all my comments past 30 min. So I finish with "move along, nothing to see here". But for those who actually asked the question, what do college coaches really want? How ironic that it was posted tonight on a softball thread on Facebook. Enjoy the read. I have no comments, not my opinion, just reposted from experts in the field who did the research.
  13. WHAT DO COLLEGE SOFTBALL COACHES WANT-2015? What Do College Softball Coaches Want-2015? By: Michelle Kretzschmar Three years ago I looked up the college softball recruiting questionnaires for the then top 12 rated D1 softball programs in the country. The idea was to see what college coaches wanted, or at least appeared to, based on the information they asked from their prospects. This could help players make sure their athletic resumes covered all the important points. And it revealed some interesting tidbits about the schools. So I thought it was time to revisit the topic and see what, if anything, in college softball recruiting has changed. One thing that didn’t change was that I ended up looking up 12 schools instead of 10 because two schools don’t have any sort of recruit forms available. This time it’s the University of Michigan and Florida State that don’t have any online questionnaires for interested players. Maybe it’s just a way to cut down on the number of players they have to evaluate. For Michigan, this is a definite choice by the softball program since other programs do have questionnaires while none of the Florida State programs appear to. Read the rest of this online article here.
  14. I've replaced all my comments with "nothing to see here, move along". As truly that is my opinion of this thread and should be no reflection on any particular player as I've expressed since the beginning. Thank you. Move along.

  16. I Apologize for the haste in comments as I did not realize I was in the presence of so many gifted and talented experts in the field of softball. I did not realize that to be an expert, merely to attend as many games as the above have, gives you "street cred" amongst the hoard. I did not realize that a pitcher should always be the best player in the region bar none, regardless if the #3 player was voted player of the year outright in the enquier and the fact that she is committed to play D1, not 2, not 3, not NAIA. What's that matter? I mean what are college coaches really looking for in the 9th or 10th region? Oh, you answered that already, they are not, because college coaches recruit at the highest level of summer travel and fall ball at national tournaments and look for players that compete at that level of intensity. The fact is that the #3 on your list has been a standout offensive and defensive player at many of these tournaments and hit and hit well against some of the best select pitchers in the country. tHAT is why she was recruited by a dozen d1, SEC, Big Ten and MAC coaches. But that is why those coaches recruit at those tourneys and not locally- most of the top talent is all in one place playing the other top talent. They don't want nor care about local yocal daddy ball or "all A"champs. Just more big fish in a very little pond. You are welcome to call Rachael Lawson, (head coach at uk for those that don't know, who knows #3 on your list personally... that coach is not looking for local talent, she recruits from California, Arizona and Texas for left handed slappers to put on her team. Look at the rosters of the Big 10, SEC, MAC. But hey, what do I know about softball, since I'm a fly by night admirer from the stands that doesn't go to all the games. I apologize, I bow down and will let the experts make the decisions on who's who of softball. One thing I do know, most coaches at the HS level are teachers, teachers who are asked to coach because they get first dibs at it and it's a nice supplement to their pay. Now, when a school system cannot get a teacher to apply, they go out in the community. And by some stroke of luck, they may find those who actually have college or even professional backgrounds. But for some situations, it does fall in the hands of parents of pLayers for some reason, they have interest because their child plays, so like most parents, they get online, learn about the sport, get educated. and with a little bit of luck will start the wheels in motion putting pieces together with what they have to work with. But that in no way makes most of them experts. Watching lots of games makes one and expert no more so than going to church makes someone a good person. Lawn boy simply needs to stop drinking the ALL A catholic school koolaid and open his eyes to what real talent is out there... Again big fish small pond syndrome. So again with this post, rank your teams, leave the players ranks out of it until the end of the year, and let their stats talk. Until then, give us neophytes a list of players in the region to look for, so that when we do attend a game, we may know who to look for, and why. Like attending a major league game,so we can get excited when "chapman" steps on the field, wondering if for that moment, we will see greatness. As for my bias of player #3 on your list, she's great in the fact of who she is, what she represents in the sport, her passion for he game , love for her team, teammates on her team or others. Ranks mean nothing to her......but boy seeing 4 HRs in one game and seeing the 5th hit just left of the foul pole (maybe 1 foot) for a state tying HRs record in one game, sure was impressive and I havnt seen anyone else do that in this area. PlaY the teams we play, open up your schedule and PLAY someone, not silver grove not bellvue.... Play someone then show those stats! Goodbye thread, I'm done. :thumb:
  17. If your going to put "opinion" thread like that up, then give us stats to prove your point, not because you favor a player vs another. Big difference when conducting ranks of order.
  18. Then neither of you know the comments I've made on other threads, if you actually have constructive critisiusum, then say it to me, but don't insult my intelligence with what you think is best for me, or my feelings being hurt. I've stood by my comments thick and thin, if you have an opinion about a player, better back it up with stats, because you are talking about them. As much as you guys like to dish it out, be careful, you might be saying it about the wrong kid. Your feelings or mine I could care less about as well, but those girls don't need to see it, or hear it from over zelious BGPers.
  19. then that's your problem, sad as it is. So care less about what I have to say, if you care less.....
  20. Thank you, which means this thread is, and no need for it. The team listings are generalizations of who won it last year, who played in the region, who returns, etc. But players? Leave that alone until the end of the season. All it does is gets people's emotions geeked up and feelings hurt, especially the kids/girls who read this. You don't think players and parents of those players who didn't make this list are saying WTH? Season hasn't already started and were already crowning who's the best......
