  1. I totally agree, but why not a shot clock, most these varsity girls play AAU, they know what it takes to play a high pressure, intense game, why not at HS? Take that part out, then maybe you'll see a different outcome of how these coaches coach, and players play. Not just intended by coaches, but is was about fatigue as well. Not one player was not our of breath, heck, I felt like I was breathing for them, you could see it in their eyes and chest. 35 sec clock KHSAA please.
  2. Exact same thing happened with my daughter. 5 hours of basketball 3 days a week, including 2 hours of practice, when is there time to get those strait A's, not that kids don't do it, but here are a few that go through it, because the coaches don't know what to do with certain players that may have potential, but string them along. You have out of your varsity maybe 8 that get effective minutes, but they usually sit 12-14 kids. Not one of the JV players that sit Varsity in many games ever get to play, but they sit. Let them go home and study. So for some, and a very few, sit through not just 30 games, but 60-90 games. That not right, not fair to them, but what do you want them to say, thanks coach for letting me sit Varsity, but I want to go home and study. Pretty sure, they wont be on that varsity team next year. They sit and suck it up, or quit.
  3. Just curious since everyone get upset about stall ball, why is there no push for a 35 sec clock like they have in AAU, College, Pros? In several games I've watched this happen. 2 min left in the second half of Highland Vs Homes game was almost used as a resting point for the Bulldogs to catch their breath. Why not call a time out? Why not press from the opposing teams, especially if you have the advantage or run?
  4. Witnessed the same thing from Alex and after she was visibly upset, I hate it for her, great kid. Mackenzie texted back she was good last night after the game. I'm sure she will feel it days later.
  5. As all Momma's should be....but hey Remmac2, this had nothing to do about anything as well, so where's your quote and dig here on dg21? "ONLY TEASING!!!" Because that makes it ok and mature.......showing our youth what it's like to be an adult. BRAVO.
  6. Your absolutely correct, but look at all the threads, always someone saying something that has nothing to do with anything, which was my point. Those stats about physical statue were about what it takes to be great, by any student-athlete that actually works at it every day, not me. Because some think its ok to just blurt out a team sucks over another when they have no clue what it takes to even be on a team. And observations are opinions, without stats. Plenty of teams out there in the world that have the stats and should have won, but didn't. You didn't offend me, but pick your battles, make your point, plenty of others on here and other threads saying much about nothing, like my buddy dg21 chiming in and calling me a meat head, so I should just say nothing? But here I go, saying nothing about anything, when the tread is about the game, so shame on me......
  7. N. And why use my quote as part of your muse to start your opinions that had nothing to do with what I said. I didn't break you down, I didn't come after any players or teams. If You have something to say, say it. If you dont like what I have to say, ignore it, like it, move on, you'll come across being more intelligent, rather than picking at someone elses comments trying to be-little or undermine it, by saying "wow.... Ok then, about the game". Who made you "Captain O Captain" of BGP?
  8. My whole comments were about the game, players, athletes in general, it's about opinions, it's about athletes putting in the work, and those who comment that act like they know what it's like to win or lose by 2 points then say one is more dominant than the other. No, I didn't give you stats on shots, fouls, but pay attention to the game, know it's more about heart, and drive, and what it takes to be a champion. Arm chair players criticizing but not knowing what it takes to do what those girls did tonight. The work in the gym, off season workouts.... Maybe those who talk garbage may actually educate themselves in what it takes to be great, and that's what those girls did tonight.
  9. The dawgs were winded by the last 2 min of the first half. Highlands has a very intense conditioning program during practice on top of their time in the weight room. I think the bigger court will be the advantage for the birds come the 9th. Even HC, their bigs were struggling. With Highlands depth and rotation, I rarely see anyone coming off winded.
  10. Be careful, women don't like that word, "big", lol. But yes, 6'0 and no push over. Varsity letter in 4 sports, National HS record holder in the Discus at one time, I guess her coach who coached Randy Barnes world record holder in the shot put would say so as well.
  11. Not sure?? But Jayhawk seems to rings a bell. Maybe "Meat Head Rob Lowe took too many hits playing football and throwing pieces of metal objects in the air like the Neanderthal I am". As DG21 would say. Awesome game tonight!! Thought Highlands would win by 3, but knew the last 2 min didn't look good. Great job Dawgs, love the grit and determination. Lady Birds held their own.
  12. Lmao!! Well I know who you are, RCC pointed you out and your no D1 athlete in your prime, not even NAIA......because you help coach daddy ball you know it all? lol. I'll take "My Meat Head Rob Lowe, 2 BA, 2 masters degrees" over your ignorance any day. You better check yourself. I said nothing to you, but then, I just did.
  13. We texted her right after the game, she said she was doing good and thanked us for the prayers. I'm sure she will be sore the next couple of days.
  14. Totally agree, love the dawgs heart and grit. But no one ever baits me. I like to comment on the ignorance of those who think they know what it's like to be in the game, whether it's a player, fan, adult making a comment, they need to check themselves before doing so, look in the mirror and ask if they ever played at that level, because if they did, they know deep down, what it's like to win or lose, so they learn humility, and those who do, know not to talk garbage.
  15. It was nice seeing coach Fouts tonight from BCHS, I'm sure BCHS is in the mix of it. They play a good spread, have shooters, speed, and stamina. I've heard, if they just had a Bigs, they would be tough to beat. 9th Region will be exciting. And RCC, I don't put much value in comments from arm chair players. Wonder what the statistical data would show of all the BGPers, how many actually played in any sport at the next level? D1, D2, D3, NAIA? I played 2 Sports at D1, 5 National teams, Varsity in 4 sports, plus club Hockey. 6-7days a week, 2-3 hours a day in the gym and weight room, because there was always someone out there working harder. I see it in some that I coach, but for the most part, most don't get it. I hear kids every day at the schools, "I'm going pro"!?! Really, you're the 1% of the 10% of kids that ever go beyond HS? Wow, you must really work hard or just a gifted natural freak. Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard, but if talent works hard, then you have a special player. These players that want to talk on BGP, think they know it all, make me laugh. Like the kid I sit in a meeting with, telling me they are going to play pro, when they have strait Fs, don't play varsity at all, say they are strong so they think they are pro material? My Ex squated 400 pounds, deadlifted 440' ran a 5.4 forty, had a national HS record before leaving HS. I've got 2 girls at home that both squat over 325. These jokers couln't even do this, and they are going pro? Have anyone actually sit and watch the girls who play D1 BBall? The size, strength, speed. They want to talk garbage about a Bball game, lmao, because if they knew how tough a margin of 2 points is, they would know it takes a lot to keep a game that close when either team is ahead by 10 or more. Look at the data, percentage, stats. If everyone was perfect, then the game would be boring and no one would have anything to say. Go Birds, Go, Dawgs, Go Indians, Go Raiders, Go Rebels! "Play the game, because player haters gonna hate"
  16. Lmao! Big 2? HHS probably proved any given day, any given time, they hold their own. Double OT loss to HC didn't prove anything. Loss by 2 in a hard fought slug fest, is no dominance by Holmes. More like your Big 2 will have to slug it out in Districts, one may draw Highlands, but Ryle has been on fire, so Regional maybe a quick one and done if either Big 2 draw these teams and ball doesn't go their way. Take stall ball out of the game, that's 2 min prior Highlands was on Fire and Holmes new they could go for another run. Didn't see one Holmes player not out of breath during that 2 min. They are very quick, very athletic, strong in the middle as I've said, but Highlands has the cardio to run, keep the pace, shoot the ball. Don't know why we went to the basket with 54 sec left? Call TO, stall ball, then they would have had win on last shot. It is what it is, only matter at Regionals. Comebacks and Karma sucks, Holmes did not make it out of Districts last year when they beat Highlands, so who knows what Cinderella has in store.
  17. With HC beating Holmes by 5, HHS losing to HC by 1 in double OT, I'll take HHS by 3 if they can hold the press and hit their shots. Inside rebounds are a crap shoot, never know who comes to play on the inside, how the ball bounces, and if they will score off of it.
  18. I wonder if they will postpone the 9th regional tournament if HC players are too sick to play? Anyhow......I saw nothing that impressed me or that any team is dominant over another. Seems like we have a lot of teams in the 9th that can control the clock, and God bless if we are tied with 2 min left, we hold the ball until 7 sec, and that goes for each team? Seems both teams wanted each to take that last shot...... 4 points each in the first OT, ridicules......KHSAA please bring the 35 sec shot clock, then maybe we will see who can really handle the game. Like we've said, any given day, any given time, seems like even the sleeper teams have a shot in the 9th. Heard Ryle held their own 3/4 of the game against a good Male team. It will all matter when whoever holds the 9th region crown, then talk crap. Grow up, it's about the girls, not your egos, congrats to all of them for working as hard as they do and making the 9th as interesting and competitive as it it. 3 in the top 10, really is too bad only 1 can go.
  19. Unless you work as a Boone Co school employee in the school district, you cannot go to a different Boone Co HS. It's all based on where you live on the designated school map, period. No school of choice.
  20. First 4 min 0-0. Both teams looked nervous and out of sync off the bat. HHS got in rhythm for a while, RHS shot themselves in the foot with multiple 2-3 rebounds in a row with 0 points to show, lots of rimed out shots. This happened A lot but they semmed to stay within 9 points thoughout the 2nd and 3rd. HHS pulled away in the 4th. One of the toughest physical games I've seen all year. Fouls were hard and aggressive. Great game for HHS, tempo was non stop, presses were often throwing HHS shooters off their game in spurts. Sorry, I have no break downs.

  22. That's why half the JV team sits varsity, to get varsity experience, not sit there and look pretty, but then there are programs that do that..no confidence in your reserves. It's bad to make those girls sit, thinking they will get an opportunity to play "if" someone is sick or injured. But nope, we will cancel, and you can keep sitting, warming that bench. Thanks for work in practice and making our starters better, but your not good enough to play. Sad, very sad.
