I don't see Beechwood as an immediate threat as they have no spectacular players. They play them on Tuesday and I think it should be an easy 3 set sweep. The others are all talented teams. I think Cooper will beat St. Henry and Henry Clay, but PLD, NDA (and Ryle, not previously mentioned) will all be very competitive matches.

Cooper beats Bishop Brossart 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-16). First set, Brossart and Cooper went back and forth for first 19 points of the match. Cooper lead 10-9 and then turned it on with a 13 point run, sophomore Hailey Gillespie serving 12 of them, to go up 23-9. Brossart setter dumped for 10th point, followed by another Brossart point. Cooper went back to back quick points to take the first set 25-11. Brossart came out strong in second set and led most of the way until Cooper tied it at 17. The rest of the set went back and forth until Cooper managed to pull away for a 25-21 second set win. Cooper eased through the third set for a 25-16 set win, putting away the match for the program's 100th win.

If chase barber has another head injury, she could be out too.

I would say either Kaity Smith or Morgan Hentz from NDA for POY depending on whether or not Hentz is healthy. Smith is better offensive player but Hentz is all-around amazing.

Ryle in 4. Dunbar came out on fire first set but saw their lead slipping towards the end of that set. Second set was back and forth, Ryle gained momentum from a controversial overturned call which have Ryle very late lead to take 2nd set. Dunbar collapsed and never looked the same. Ryle cruised through sets 3 and 4 to win the match.

Only big returners for Boone were setter Alli Borders and libero Kara Means. Middles were non-existent. Libero went in for outside hitters in the backrow, which is odd. Overall, Boone lacked any defense, which led to very many good offensive sets. Alli Borders did all she could do but looked like she had to resort to dumping the ball over on 2 for lack of offense. Conner wasn't much better but with setter Deandra Atwood's serve, they managed to keep Boone serve receive off balance and in turn, they received a lot of free balls and aces.

I will be going for sure. I predict Dunbar wins in 4. Dunbar is extremely well rounded and always seems to have at least one big offensive threat in the front row. When both Olivia Canales and Leah Edmond are in the front row, WATCH OUT.

Ryle lost to Tates Creek in 3 sets Cooper lost to Dunbar in 3 sets Tates Creek lost to Dunbar in 3 sets... Somehow I don't believe Ryle will "pick apart" Cooper. As for NCC, I haven't seen them but I know they have their best OH and MB back. Not sure about the rest of the team. I guess we'll have to wait to see.

Haven't seen North Oldham yet this year but I know who they lost. Have seen SK play and I think they are a lot better than last year even without Murray, who they lost to graduation. I say Top 3 are 1. SK 2. Oldham County 3. North

Saw both teams at Bluegrass games. Still early to tell but Scott looked very solid. Decent defense but all offense is from OHs. Campbell seemed to have a fairly weak defense but make up with setter. Going with Scott to win in 4.

under KVCA polls, there were 2 listed with one listed as "updated". The first has been recently removed. I wouldn't read that much into either poll as both are clearly wrong, one is just incredibly wrong. I wish someone more aware of the entire state's volleyball teams would create their own top 25 ranking.

This poll is much better than the first, yet still wrong. I guess that's why it is a "preseason" poll. First thing is first, Mercy is #1, not Assumption. Notre Dame shouldn't be #4, they should just have a question mark next to them because as of now, no one has any idea how they will fare against the other 9th region opponents and the rest of the state. To be clear, I am not a NDA hater. I cheer for whichever team makes it out of the 9th region and I'm proud to be a part of arguably the 2nd best region in the state. I can't wait for season to start. It's going to be quite a ride. I just don't want to see Mercy or Assumption win state and I think that's something we can all agree on.

With the economy in its current state, I've seen many families choose to not send their child to private school to save money and since 2008, many public school teams have gotten increasingly better. Not saying any public school has a "dream team", but the playing field seems to be a lot less lopsided.

You can't use someone's record as a determination of skill. Pikeville is in arguably one of the worst regions in the state and played no one worth anything (Losses to Allen Central x2, Betsy Lane, West Jessamine, East Ridge). I will give you credit that Bishop Brossart looks a lot better than last year but you cannot deny the fact that had you and other teams been in a different pool with better teams, you would not have seen that same pool outcome. Cooper lost to Dunbar 17-15 in the 3rd set of Saturday's pool play and now Dunbar is in the finals of Gold. Still think yesterday's pool was fair?

Obviously they have no idea about middle school volleyball nor have they ever seen anyone else play because if they had, they would know that Gray and Camp Ernst are consistently better than the other schools. Just because someone doesn't want to go to NDA doesn't mean they aren't good. It's time to wake up NKY, catholic schools aren't like they used to be.

Honestly, the pools were severely messed up. Teams like Bishop Brossart and Raceland made the gold bracket when good teams were sent to silver. Teams that got 2nd in Friday pools ended up in easier Saturday pools. The tournament format/seeding needs to change for the future.
