My NKY Top Teams: - NDA - St. Henry/Cooper/Ryle/Scott - Beechwood - NCC I believe that any teams in the second tier could beat each other. Not sure about Scott/St. Henry match up, though.

We all know Ashley Bush is good, but I think we are all sick and tired of playing the "what if" game. No, Cooper would not be the as good w/o Kaity Smith and Scott wouldn't be as good w/o Tapp, but they are playing. Cooper easily handled Ryle again for their second win over the raiders this season. Yes, things will be different when Ashley comes back but no one knows if it will be enough for Ryle to win. These aren't false positives. These are all good teams we are talking about and every day is a different day. Stop playing the "what if" game and accept the fact that Ryle isn't 35-5 this year and Cooper isn't 25-8 this year. Both teams have struggled and we just have to accept it and move on without making excuses for everything. It's possible that Ryle could beat Cooper in districts with Ashley Bush, but we can't make any assumptions with the inconsistencies this year.

I think it only goes to show that the 9th is a toss up this year. We still haven't seen NDA vs. Ryle, though. If NDA wins decisively, it will be clear that the pandas are the team to beat.

Jags didn't play well last week against Scott and you could see they had something to prove tonight and they sure made a statement.

Cooper sweeps Ryle in an all-around great game for the jags. Defense scrapped for everything and hitters took advantage. Before any Ryle fans say anything, Ashley Bush did not play. Hayley Bush set a 5-1. Chase Barber was back at the Libero position.

I would agree with that. St. Henry is a very talented team.

Shocked by Ryle winning or shocked that it took 5? I'm assuming A Bush and C Barber were back for this match.

MyShadow, Cooper is ONLY public school to take a set from NDA so far this year. NDA has yet to play Ryle, though.

Notre Dame beats Cooper 2-1 (25-9, 24-26, 25-10) NDA serving big winner here. Cooper couldn't pass to save their lives in games 1 & 3 and pandas let nothing drop, therefore Cooper was unable to run an efficient offense. When they did manage to pass the ball, they hit very efficiently. Cooper scrapped all of game 2 and hit very efficiently. Many long rallies that fell both ways. Game 3 was all NDA defense and serving. Again, they couldn't pass the ball, leading to many free balls and the pandas ran their offense quick and Cooper defense couldn't catch up. Not the Jaguars' best match but showed the potential. Can't wait for regional tournament. It should be an interesting year.

Tonight?! Oh wow. I wish I could watch.

Does anyone know if A. Bush and C. Barber will be playing? I think that St. Henry will win unless Ryle has A. Bush and C. Barber. St. Henry is an all around good team, not many weaknesses and is really good at frustrating hitters and forcing errors. Any other predictions?

That was my thoughts exactly. Although St. Ursula seemed to have spurts of control when they played NDA @ NDA.

Any expectations? I'm interested to see how things shake up. If Cooper has all hitters going and defense is scrappy, I think they could give NDA a run for their money. However, if Hentz, Thelen and Salkowski are playing well, it will be quite the challenge. I guess it depends which teams show up tomorrow. I've seen Cooper play phenomenal and I've seen the opposite side of the spectrum. Same with NDA. They seem to be playing well lately, though. I'm excited to see this matchup. I hope both teams come out firing. I'm hoping for a great match. Hoping.

I can tell you right now I can name several teams that wouldn't be nearly as good without their Libero.

I hope so. Chase is a great athlete and I wish the best for her. No one wants to see her unable to play volleyball again. She has great potential to play college volleyball and I hope she will remain injury free for the remainder of her career.

That's good for both of them and especially good for Ryle. Looks like Ryle will have a much better chance at beating NDA/St. Henry/Cooper. But I still don't understand how Chase Barber could be released after so many head injuries?

Rumor is Ashley Bush is out 4-6 more weeks or for the rest of the season. I've heard that through multiple reliable sources. I think if she was healthy enough and Ryle beat NDA, they would vote her for POY. At this moment, I'm not sure who will get it.

That's not true. I've seen multiple games where she repeatedly hit right into a block set after set. For example, St. Ursula which wasn't even NDA's strongest opponent. Morgan Hentz can't go over a block where as Kaity Smith can. I think Ashley Bush is better offensively than Hentz too.

Cooper wins 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-16). Complete dominance by Cooper beginning to end. Cooper started off the set 10-0. Conner's back up setter was actually very good, perhaps even better than Atwood. Cooper defense was on fire and let nothing drop. Cooper looked very tired last week and this past weekend, but they looked refreshed and very good tonight.

I think soon enough, schools will be required to pay an extra two officials to line judge. It is only $30 per match so I don't see the big problem. It makes more sense than having a random kid that has no idea what they are doing and forcing the R1 and R2 to make controversial calls because of the lack of attention from the line judge.

In ninth, I'd say they could contend, if and only if they play more consistently. They have played amazing matches and very poor matches. They hung tough with St. Henry in a hostile environment when the crusaders played lights out defense. St. Henry and Notre Dame seem to be fairly equal as far as points in matches where both teams have played the same opponent. Both teams are mostly defense and lacks offense. Cooper seems to lack defense but has strong offensive hitters. Ryle seems to be somewhere in the middle, but perhaps slightly better offense (with A. Bush). Who knows what will happen. I just have a feeling all 4 teams will look a lot different when districs and regionals come around.

I think every person at KBA today saw some tension between coaches and the players/parents. 100% for sure.

It would have been the crossover match because they didn't win in day 2 pool play. Lost to Cooper, Henry Clay and McCracken County.
