The Ballerz are a mostly Lexington team consisting of: Jeremy Ward - Dunbar PJ Corio - Dunbar Jordan Lewis - Dunbar Jordan Brown - Dunbar Trey Sturdivant - Tates Creek Jaylin White - Attends Tates Creek but did not play ball Terique Miller - Madison Central Sam Jones - Madison Central Rudi Guy - Bryan Station Quan Claitt - Bryan Station Clarion Washington - Scott County We played in the AAU state tournament at KBA and were pooled with: The Ville KY Retros KY Bulldogs...a very tough bracket for sure. We played the Retros to a last second shot for an unfortunate loss and had a tough time getting a full roster the next couple of days, but were still able to advance to the second round in tournament play and unfortunately lost on another last second shot to the top seed in our bracket. Our team is looking for an exciting opportunity to play in the Nationals this week and should be fun to watch. Clarion and Sam are new additions to our team since the state tournament; however, Sam will most likely not be with us as he injured himself last week and needs to recover from that the rest of the week.

Aren't they for supporting your elbow from getting a hyperextension type injury? The way an elbow gets torqued during a shot is somewhat unnatural...kinda like the same way a pitcher flings his elbow out on a fastball. I would think that someone who takes a LOT of shots may benefit from the extra support or compression...someone that shoots as many as Allen Iverson used to do especially. I am on the computer a lot and there for a while when I got a new chair I had this weird angle to my keyboard. I had to put compression on my elbows and just below it to try to get it to stop hurting...I'm getting pretty old though. I think it is called bursitis or something like that.

I think they were in a district tie and needed one total win to have the better record or something like that... Actually, I guess they got third seed anyways, but I just remember at the time it was important for them to be able to control their seeding.

PJ Corio has been playing point for Dunbar during the summer games. PJ is a very capable ball handler, drives the basket with vigor, and is an outstanding shot as well. Anyone that has witnessed his play this summer in AAU and summer team play will have to attest to this. Hollingsworth is a very talented player. He typically plays the 2, as he did last year as well. He has a good shot, comes off the high screen really well and makes very difficult shots in traffic. He typically plays very hard and has great enthusiasm for the game. I would say that anything you witnessed at KBA probably has more to do with being a young player than a question of talent. This will be Dunbar's biggest issue next season - getting all the players to play with consistency and as a team each and every game.

This information is a little misleading. Dunbar had 6 seniors that played last year (1 left in the middle of the year). Of these 6, at least 3 started and played significant minutes throughout the year. Coach Chalk played a lot of players and tried to get minutes for all. I suspect because he knew there was a lot of younger talent and wanted to get them some minutes as well. In my mind, this type of play style left the team a little chaotic at times and caused difficulty in finding a rhythm, but did get a lot of playing experience for the younger players and the future of the program. Next years team is not necessarily the same team as last, but this may bode well for the next season, as I agree that next years Dunbar team is very capable of making a lot of noise in the 11th. The Henry Clay game was as you mentioned, but I would say the most impressive game was that against Scott Co the next to last game in the season. There was a lot to play for in this game as it determined whether or not they would have to play the 4-5 game in the district or get a pass to the second round. The team showed a tremendous amount of determination and will, but at the end were defeated by three to the eventual state championship runner-ups. Lastly, next years Dunbar team will rely heavily on the players you mentioned, but another player you did not mentioned is Senior to be Jeremy Ward. Jeremy is a very solid inside player that can fill many different roles. Jeremy has a very good basketball IQ and is a very smart player as well. He is the kind of player that will give around 10-15 pts a game and can go strong into the basket and make players bounce off him in the lane. However, his best attributes typically don't get recorded in the stat books. He is a big space eater and uses his body well inside the paint. He always has a bigger man on his back and does the work to stay in position to either grab the rebounds or give his teammates a chance at the ball by keeping the opponents away from it. He is unselfish and typically never receives any accolades, but the team will struggle to win without his presence in the game. Jeremy plays hard as nails, but is also one of the nicest players on the court. He rarely complains, is courteous to the officials and is very complimentary of his opponents and teammates. There have been a few times this summer that coach has brought Dontelle in and moved Jeremy over to the 4 which I believe is thier best lineup. Hopefully they will go more to this once there is more time to practice before the season.

Just click on the main page link to 2014 KBA Boys High School Summer State Tournament. They usually post the tournament matchups after the pools are over, but I think they have the brackets already up and seeded by pool standings.

Most of these teams will be playing in the summer state tourney at KBA today through the weekend.

I just assumed it was the guy the previous posters were talking about. It was the guy with the big hair.

When our team, Lextown Ballers, played them in the tourney game, the Royals post guy was the player my son, Jeremy, said would be difficult to shut down. Even before the game, Jeremy was complimenting this guys play, saying that he had really good post moves and was deceptively good at scoring from inside. Jeremy has a really good basketball IQ and is usually spot on in his assessments.

They were the Hustle. My team played really well against them for being a bunch of bench warmers and baseball players. We edged the Hustle by 2 in overtime of a very good seed game. The hustle was without tisdale and carson I believe for this game. Both teams rematched in the final game and played well. We were up early in the first half, but got into foul trouble near the end of the half and got down by 4 at halftime. The second half was anyone's game until the final few minutes but we could not overcome our fouls and had an off shooting night, which resulted in a loss by around 9. The hustle was a very good team. They were quick to the basket and shot the ball well. Williams played a very good game and we didn't match him as well this second time around. It was a very fun game to be able to play with all this local talent. Our team has some very good players. We have been putting together some nice KBA tournament wins and this was our first loss since starting the season (13-1). We are very new and have trouble with consistency on players...especially with baseball. Three players that have been big contributors for us were out this weekend. We are not a sponsored team and stay mostly local. Our goal is to compete in one NCAA certified event (likely in Louisville). We expect to play next weekend at the state tournament and hope to draw some interest in our players. Please check us out.
