Hats off to the Lady Raiders. Make no doubt about it folks these girls can really hammer the ball. After watching my Lady Eagles play both NDA and Ryle I can with confidence say it is Ryle's to lose. That said after spotting Ryle 8 pts. In the first game the Lady Eagles battled the Lady Raiders point for point taking game 2, coming from behind in game 3 to take the lead only to let it slip at the end. Game 4 Scott jumped out to a 16 - 8 lead only to open the door back up on a few back to back serve/receive errors which Ryle took full advantage. All in all it was a great match to watch and I look for both these teams to have great seasons.

PG duties will rest on Kallmeyer and Stapleton, both of which process solid ball handling skills and shooting abilities. However, IMO Kallmeyer is a natural PG with her speed and unparalleled ability to see the court and deliver the ball to the scorers, while Stapleton is the ideal SG with great moves to the basket and a solid outside shot. As far as the exit of the player you are referring to she is wished nothing but the best at SK and while the loss of your leading scorer can be difficult. The general belief is that it will make for a better TEAM this upcoming season.

The Lady Eagles could very well be this years Dark Horse to win not just the District but quite possibly the 10th Region. With the graduation of post player Jill Buntin (who will be missed) and a few personnel changes the Eagles will ride the shoulders of Jr. guard Holly Kallmeyer (last years defensive POY), freshman guards Anna Clephane and Lexi Stapleton. Additionally, Jr post player Tori Dant and , Sr's Jenna Trempe, and Maddie Meyer will have big impacts on the glass for the Eagles. Lady Eagle fans are looking forward to a very exciting season regardless of end of season record, as the positive energy from this group of young ladies was already palpable during summer ball workouts.

For the record, Glyde I accomplished exactly what I wanted and that is getting people discussing KY volleyball. And thank you all for your comments. As far as who will win I will be rooting for in my opinion one of the dark horse teams to come out of nowhere and surprise everybody to win it all. But to answer your question as to who could unseat Ryle as defending champs is hard to say but with a half dozen of last years state tournament contenders and a number of unknown factors I think it could be a very exciting tournament as well a fun year for girls volleyball. P.S. And if Ryle does win it all than I will be no less happy for those girls then I would if my dark horse team wins it since it would only help to emphasize that NKY is the place to be for top volleyball talent. Wow no love NKY and only a few likes. Going to be an interesting year for Girls Basketball as I believe many will be surprised by Holmes, Scott, Boone, Conner, Ryle and Bishop Brossart.

After the same two teams being in the regional finals and both semi-final games being blowouts the last 2 years I see no reason to think that the regional championship will come down to anybody else but Scott and Campbell County. That said with the maturation of the young Scott team coming to fruition I believe this will be Scott's year to take home the regional crown.

OK Glyde I'll bite, but only because i really would like to see NKY Volleyball (NDA aside) get the much needed attention it deserves, and nothing draws attention like the controversy of differing opinions.....That said, While I know Ryle will no doubt be very tough their are several teams I think may make you eat your words. All fun and polite manner intended.

Lost in the semi-final game to the WV North Stars. Frustrating game to watch. Legends were in foul trouble early with Boo Kallmeyer again having 3 fouls within the first 3 min of the game and Gulley having 3 just before halftime. North Stars had a player that was literally laying the ball over the front edge of the rim (would have been a beautiful thing to watch if she had played for the Legends). The game was kept within 4 pts until the last 2 min of the game when the early foul trouble came back to bite them. Overall the girls played hard and look to have a great showing at AAU Nationals next week in Mason.

In spite of early foul trouble that saw Boo Kallmeyer pick up 3 fouls in less than 3 min into the game the Lady Legends rebound from yesterdays loss to dominate the Jersey Fusion Elite 58-27.

Lady Legends drop the 2nd pool game to the Greensboro Galaxy Gold 34-45.

Agree....you must play and lose to the best to learn how to beat the best. However, I need some clarification. I was under the impression that only the winner of the State title could go D1 and all other had to settle or a D2 or D3 bid. Again please clarify.

Nky Legends 10th grade girls bring home The Nashville Hoopz Showcase Summer Slam Title and garner some NCAA attention.

Lady Legends go 3 - 0 in pool play at the Hoopz Summer Slam in Nashville, TN

Scott Lady Eagles drop only their second game of summer ball to Lewis Co.55-49, however rebound nicely to down Russell 52-36. Great job Lady Eagles on a very successful summer of basketball!!!

NKY Lady Legends are headed to Nashville this weekend. Good Luck Girls. Make us proud.

Scott Lady Eagles finish the Summer Slam in strong fashion splitting games with Brossart and Taking 2 of 2 from SK both games by 10+. Great job Eagles.

Scott Lady Eagles go 2-0 at the Thomas More Camp with wins over Dixie 55-51 and a come from behind win in overtime over Cooper 41-38. Great Job Eagles, keep it up. ***As a side note**** Liza Tibbs from Dixie got tangled with Tori Dant of Scott and both went to the floor. It looked pretty scary and our prayers go out to Liza in hopes that it turns out to be very minor and she is back on the court soon.

While I missed many of the games last night and would love to hear from others about their teams results I can report that the Lady Eagles took 3 games from Ludlow, Highlands and 2 from Brossart.

Scott Lady Eagles participated in the Xavier Camp last Friday downing Goshen HS 53-40 and Frankfort 49-31, before enduring a tough loss to the AAU Ohio Extreme. Scoring was well distributed among all Lady Eagles highlighted by dynamic ball movement and several standout defensive performances.
