Scott 2 South Oldham 0 25-12 25-19 Congrats Lady Eagles on going undefeated and winning the Silver Bracket Championship.

Though I hate how seeding was determined in this tournament with 5 teams undefeated forcing seeding to be determined by scoring giving the advantage to the host team which received a plus 25 as a result of no show I can take nothing away from the Lady Jags who were dominant all weekend. Congrats Ladies on your hard work paying off!!!!

Scott 2 Bishop Brossart 0 25-9, 25-17

Scott 2 Madison Central 0 25-10 & 25-17

Scott 2 Beechwood 1 Scott dropped the first game 25-22 but came from behind late in game 2 to win 26-24 and carried that momentum into game 3 with a win 15-11. Scott 2 Conner 1 Scott dominated game 1 25-11. Conner came alive in game 2 and was just as dominate to win 25-13. Game 3 saw Scott jump out early and maintain a solid lead till the end winning 15-7. Congrats to all the girls on a great night of volleyball.

With teams playing on other courts I couldn't keep up with outcome. Please post your team's results and maybe a little about some of the action.

Assuming you meant Scott HS as the dark horse. Unless Scott Co. was moved from the 11?

1st you will never hear me say top player. Yes the player that was the leading scorer left the program. However, that player also led the team in turnovers and not by a small margin either. Whether it was court vision or a different agenda, i know of a couple of games where it either cost Scott the game or came close. But the biggest improvement will come from a better distribution of the ball. Their is a ton of young talent on the team from the freshman Stapleton and Clephane, to the sophomore class of Davis, Stevers, and Wagner and on up through the junior and senior classes. Better distribution will make them harder to defend as you will see multiple players attacking the basket instead of one. Distribution will lead to fresher legs allowing for a faster pace. Lastly distribution will enhance even more an already upbeat team moral as more players are involved. Like I said before whether this years team surpasses last years or not I can't say. It will take a few games to get the team gelled especially since 3 of the players could possibly be involved with volleyball into the post season. But either way IMO this will be an exciting season of Lady Eagle Basketball and hopefully a lot of fun to watch.

dg may never calm down. For them it will all depend on how well Tubbs is recovered from injury and how quickly the team can gel together. They will be fast and athletic for sure. Scott: in a another post it was said that Neace had control of the ball 85% of the time. This may even been a little low. Lead the team in scoring but who wouldn't having the ball 85%+. That said this years team will be more balanced and posses greater speed. With the addition of Clephane in the line up they will be better defensively and with Stapleton out from under the Neace shadow and Kallmeyer to get her the ball I see her in a situation where her potential will finally be shown. Look for Kimberly Davis, Jenna Trempe, Tori Dant and Madie Meyer to deliver solid 4/5 play. Whether this season turns out better or worse than last, having seen them in action this summer and fall I believe they will surprise a lot of teams.

This is a tough one to pick. CC got a raw deal last year with coaching changes and will be tougher this year. BB did graduate their 3 top players but does retain 2 of the best post players in the area. I put this match up as a coin flip at best.

While I love MNCM's optimism I will be a little more conservative and place Scott at 5/6 and here's why: In spite of history going all the way back to middle school the starting 5's will present an interesting match up of speed versus size. However, it is 6-10 where Ryle seams to find and endless pool of 6footers that will give them the advantage here. NDA (correct me if I'm wrong) lost size but gained skill in the guard positions which should make for a fast paced game but the edge in experience goes to NDA. HC/HHS were very close games from last year and I think Scott takes one of these this year. Probably HC because there is history between Kallmeyer and McLendon. As far as Holmes go they have so many horses this year I predict they steamroll the 9th.

IMO, the 10th is up, but that could just be my excitement for my home team and the upcoming season.

A few of the teams I am familiar with as well as a few of the players. Others I am not. I believe Mason Co. graduated a lot leadership and talent at the end of last year and in spite of an extremely talented group of incoming I still see them behind Scott. I was able to watch GRC at a summer ball camp and came away a little disappointed in the hype. That said it was summer ball so anything is possible. As far as players go, while Stapleton is an excellent player and will have a phenomenal season, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that Kallmeyer was 2nd (behind Neace) on Scott's team in every offensive category except 3pointers last year and led the team in steals, deflections and block shots. Additionally having watched the games first hand I would place both players ahead of Kelsch from Augusta. As a side note the tenth is going to be really fun to watch this year. No matter how it turns out you can't argue with Montgomery Co.'s advantage in tournament experience. Mason Co. is bringing the youth, GRC a balanced combo and ....... just throwing this out their I am picking Scott as the dark horse to pull off the upset this year.

Lady Eagles go into a very hostile Beechwood environment (boys football team (i think) showed up dressed in white tights top and bottom and put on a cheering exhibition) and celebrate the return of coach Sullivan with a win over a very scrappy and young Lady Tigers team. The student body for Beechwood was loud obnoxious and just plain fun to watch. They added a level of excitement to the nights game that was both in great sport and good fun. Hats off to the Lady Tigers, their fans and the administration (for not stifling the student body).

Had a brain cramp with Lexi, but did add her in a followup post. In regard to Hannah and Mo I was simply listing current roster. No offense intended.

There were 26 teams at nationals in Mason this year representing several regions of the country including NJ, Massachusetts , Missouri, Southern Mississippi, Minnesota, the Ozark Region and of course Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. However, rankings must be based on performances at all the AAU tournaments around the country as there were many teams on the the lists whom did not appear at the national events. In regard to the upswing in NKY talent what I find most interesting is comparing the 2014 preseason power rankings to the end of the year rankings. I am not sure their is even a NKY team listed preseason. That said, the NKY teams obviously worked very hard and stepped up to represent this past season.

Agreed. And what happens if Ryle takes it? Wow could that make some waves!!! Like I have said before. No matter who comes out on top this has been a great year to be a volleyball fan!!!
