We do not poll coaches, sportswriters, or fans. Nor does our staff make any judgments on the merits of any individual team. Prior season history, school size, and comments on message boards are not considered in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings. The system utilizes the huge number of game results stored in the MaxPreps database. Generally, the more a team wins the higher the ranking, but the system takes into account quality wins (against other highly ranked opponents) and strength of schedule. For example, a team's ranking is hurt more by losing to a team that is ranked below them verses a team ranked ahead. Other factors that will affect the rankings are times when MaxPreps has incomplete or inaccurate information." ~ MaxPreps.com

  6. @ Archie Bunker - Just an FYI, Jason Frakes voted for Ashland at #7 for the upcoming AP Poll.
  7. Well, if I were to look at the rankings right now and taking Ashland's schedule into account (not taking any out of state games into consideration) I would probably place them right below East Carter and right above Mercy. Assuming that those two teams are where they need to be.....which is probably another conversation in itself. They avenged losses to both of those teams so I think that all 3 probably need to stay around the same pack around the middle of the list. East Carter a good win over Holy Cross, and Ashland a good win over Butler.
  8. Thanks for the correction. Do you know where I can find that Poll?
  9. Not sure how they are calculating their rankings. Ashland is not even ranked in the Litkenhous Rankings nor are they ranked in the Cantrall Ratings (as of last week). Not that I don't like the Bluegrasspreps.com Rankings, but the other 2 ranking systems hold more weight throughout the state. When they speak in terms of who is ranked where in the state, the media goes off of the Litkenhous Rankings.
  10. STARTERS: -Erin Boley (JR) - Notre Dame Commit - Collegiate level offense, consistent mid range game with ability to knock down the 3. Very strong physically, quick off of the dribble. Her size, strength, and athleticism make it very hard for anyone to guard her. Could brush up on her defense, but gets 9-10+ rebounds every outing. -Reaunna Cleaver (SR) - Louisiana Tech Signee - Strong physical inside presence at 6'2". Polished inside game, comfortable with back to the basket - strong finisher. Strong rebounder, will block shots. -Darien Huff (SR) - College of Charleston Signee - Combo Guard with overall well rounded game. Sharp shooter from 3 and mid range. Deceptively quick off of the dribble. High Bball IQ. Defensive stopper. -Livie Bowling (SR) - Southern Illinois Signee - Composed PG, distributes the ball well. Quick off of the dribble, drives well. Jump shot could use polishing. Great defender. -Rachael Warden (JR) - Sharp Shooter from 3, will knock down mid range shots. Distributes the ball well. Great defender. BENCH: -Jada Stinson (SO) - Advanced ball handling skills, deceptively quick off of the dribble. Skilled at the dribble drive and drawing fouls. Jump shot needs work. Distributes well. Defensive stopper. -Taylor Thomas (SO) - Strong physical presence inside, lacks height. Strong at cleaning up the boards on both ends of the floor. All of these girls have been playing together from a very young age. Won the 8th Grade State Championship together. Very scrappy team on Defense. Offensively well rounded. Each girl can and will score, with the bulk of the scoring coming from Bowley, Cleaver, and Huff. Stinson has come on very strong as of late. Very mature and composed team that plays and shares the ball well. Very smart team on both ends of the floor. Hard to rattle them. They love to run and will rattle off a plethora of points at a time. They are currently playing with a chip on their shoulders, as they lost the State Championship last year to Butler. Every person on the team is back from last years State Runner Up Team. Hope this helps! LOL!

  12. E-Town Lady Panthers ranked #12 in the nation by ESPN. Have been nationally ranked in the top 25 by ESPN all year. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/women/recruiting/powerrankings?week=8&rankingId=28&season=2014
  13. Really terrible for Henderson! I got to see them play twice in the LIT and was hoping that it would be a Henderson vs. E-Town Championship game. I saw the Brown girl hurt her wrist......sucks for them, she is a really good shooter. I was really impressed with their PG #23. She is a very composed floor general. Wondering how much of a "foreshadowing" the LIT provided for us to see the things to come in the State Tourney!
  14. Sacred Heart played VERY well against E-Town. It seemed as if E-Town was definitely out of their game as they didn't shoot the ball nor play very well at all! I think pulling out a win despite a lackluster performance against SH - who again, played a VERY good game, speaks volumes about the maturity and toughness E-Town posses. Ashland slowed the game down on E-Town in their second outing and it was clearly recognizable that it bothered E-Town, as they like to run. Ashland's game plan for taking E-Town's sharp shooting wings out of the game worked, but E-Town responded with Cleaver and Bowley pounding them down low. It was clear that Ashland could not climb the hill on them. Butler played well against them in the Championship game, but Erin Bowley could not be stopped! E-Town's defense was over-powering in that game as the Huff girl bothered Butler's guards on the top of the zone. With many back-taps and steals, she led defensive charges that changed the game in major ways. The only team I see beating E-Town this year is E-Town! Unless they have a total melt down, they will be holding the trophy at the end of the State Tourney this year. Not to mention, those girls are out for blood as they have a sour State Runner-Up taste in their mouth's from last year.......and everyone is back from that team!
  15. @ passtheball......Are you a Sacred Heart fan? Asking because of the reference of "we" in your earlier post. Just curious
  16. I've seen a few teams slow it down on them. It bothers them a little as they like to run. Problem is, they will rattle off 8-12 quick points a few times and in the end slowing it down just delays the beat down! LOL!
  17. Not sure any team matches up with E-Town very well! They have weapons all over the place!

  20. Competition will rival the State Tourney! Any Thoughts?
  21. Agreed. That's the beauty of Bball.....you never know whats going to happen once a team plays! Probably the first few on top of the list are pretty accurate, but most of the rest could be debated. Personally I question the 5 & 6 loss teams......and Lafayette with 8 losses! I'm going to have to research to see how many of those losses are to KY teams. What I do know is that E-Town is the most dominant team in the state right now, hands down! The closest game(s) that they have had were against Allen Co. Scottsville (win by 13) and East Carter (win by 17). 2 other teams have managed to lose by 20+ and the rest have gotten no closer than a loss in the 30's!! A ridiculous stat........E-Town has a 38.1 average margin of victory versus KY teams!! But then again, you never know what will happen in this game.....and the LIT is around the corner!!

  23. ......personally, I am hoping for an E-town vs. Henderson Co. Title game for the LIT. I've haven't seen Henderson play this year, but am hearing that they are pretty good. I've seen E-town play several games and I must say that they seem to be in a class by themselves!
  24. 2 of their losses are from out of state teams and the other 2 are from currently ranked #11 East Carter and #14 Mercy. So, they really only have 2 in state losses. Now does a loss to 2 teams that have been ranked lower than them all year still warrant a #4 spot for them......well, that's not for me to decide and I'll stay away from that conversation! LOL! As 'passtheball' stated, we will find out how they stack up in the LIT.
