Pretty poorly officiated games in my opinion. Several calls late in the Bullitt East/Mercy Game & the Butler/North Bullitt games were very costly & game changing. I was sitting near a group of officials and they even seemed stunned by some calls.

I cant speak to the latter......but the Bullitt East-Mercy game was very inconsistent. The players, coaches, and fans had no idea what to expect with the next whistle. But it seems to be a continuing trend as the years pass.

 

Let me add that I would not want their job----but if you are going to do it and accept the checks, you should be held accountable for your performance. I know, I know....they are evaluated.........but when is the last time anything was done? For each game there are probably 2 "films" of it. Each coach should be allowed to send a film to the powers that be for review. Even limit the coaches to a certain amount per season. That way the coach would be selective when he decided to use up his "review" and the referees knew that at any point they may be getting evaluated more than normal.

I watched the Bullitt East/Mercy game and agree that the officiating was inconsistent. I thought the official used poor judgment when he issued the tech to the BE coach. The game was either tied or a 2 point difference when BE's Duvalle shot the three and got boxed out. the players got tangled up and both went into the BE bench. No foul was called and the BE coach wasn't happy and let the ref know it. The ref could've easily let it go, so it wouldn't impact the end of this contest with only 50+ seconds left in a close ballgame.

 

There is an officiating deficiency in most regions because there just aren't enough officials. When the officials in a game was changed from 2 man to three man team, we had a numbers problem. Older guys retired and not enough young talent has been recruited to officiate at a high level.

Henderson County will be playing without a post players for the 2nd weekend in a roll in the big city. Looking to get Gilbert back maybe late next week and that will make them much better.
