I asked last week & I'll ask again, How does Ashland remain ranked so high with 4 losses?

I guess you didn't read the response from last week.

You will find out how they stack up next week when they play in the LIT.

2 of their losses are from out of state teams and the other 2 are from currently ranked #11 East Carter and #14 Mercy. So, they really only have 2 in state losses. Now does a loss to 2 teams that have been ranked lower than them all year still warrant a #4 spot for them......well, that's not for me to decide and I'll stay away from that conversation! LOL! As 'passtheball' stated, we will find out how they stack up in the LIT.

......personally, I am hoping for an E-town vs. Henderson Co. Title game for the LIT. I've haven't seen Henderson play this year, but am hearing that they are pretty good. I've seen E-town play several games and I must say that they seem to be in a class by themselves!

If Sacred Heart makes it to the finals like we did last year, then it's on me RCC! Sacred Heart has been playing solid basketball for the last three weeks.

 

In the LIT we play PRP on Tuesday, then if we win onto a rematch with Eastern. We are playing much better than when Eastern hit a 3 with seconds remaining to beat us, so I think we get by Eastern. Next up would be E'town....As the saying goes, you never know, which is why we play the game!

 

Finals are on Saturday the 31st I believe.

I am not saying that Ashland is not good. They are! I have seen them play. However to remain #4 with 4 losses(2 in-state) is all I am questioning.

 

Just think the 4 losses should drop a team out of the top 5. I don't think in-season rankings should be positioned based on potential, which is what I think this is doing. Many more deserving teams that could be in that top 5.

 

I do agree that the LIT should show us a lot about these teams with ETown, Henderson, Ashland & Franklin County all competing with the Louisville schools. Should be a GREAT Tournament.

 

Teams behind Ashland:

5. Holmes - No losses

6. Franklin County - No in-state losses & beat East Carter(who beat Ashland)

7. Mercer County - 3 losses to very good teams, probably should be ranked around Ashland(similar arguments)

8. Highlands - 1 3-point overtime loss

9. Butler - 2 in-state losses to good teams, but beat Ashland head-to head.

10. Bell County - lost 2 games by 3 points.

Henderson is the real deal but right now trying to find what line ups work. They just lost their 6 foot center. Since they lost her they are 2-0 but didn't face top ten competition. I think they are top 5 without her but maybe not good enough to go to the LIT and win two games.

I'm looking forward to watching them play next week in the LIT. This might be a better tourney than the one coming up at Diddle!

Henderson most likely will be with out another starting center for the LIT. Which leaves them with zero. They hope to get her back soon.

Ashland defeated Butler in the Lexington Tournament in a thriller. Two losses outside of state are to two WV teams currently ranked 2 and 3 in state.

I'm looking forward to watching them play next week in the LIT. This might be a better tourney than the one coming up at Diddle!

 

On positive note for Henderson County they will get their back up Center back in two weeks. Bad news for LIT watchers is Henderson County will not have a post player for that game or games.

Just because anyone has not seen a team play in no way does that mean that team is not good....Ashland is tough. The Robinsons are both major D1 kids( Alexis is headed to Colorado and Mykasa is the number 8 player in America in the 2018 Class according to All Star Girls Report with offers from UK and UL among several other top 10 programs in America). Foutch and Gransberry both will play college basketball. This is a final four team from last years state tourney. They were at the Lexington Catholic Christmas tourney where you cant dodge teams and won some big games including last years state champs Butler. If I had a good team that tourney and the LIT, the Raatz Fence at Mercy( this weekend and its really loaded with in state and out of state teams) I would be begging to get my team into not somewhere I could pad my record.
