I agree with you! He is one of those kids that doesn't get alot of attention but if you've had a opportunity to watch him play, he's very impressive.

Why play 18U if you are going to college? Playing 18U keeps you playing and get ready for college. As soon as a baseball player steps on campus they start fall practices. That's where a freshman will impress the coaches and be considered for possible playing time during the spring.

This is the trap that most kids and parents fall into. 9 out of 10 times kids are already signed before the summer of an 18U summer. Why play up because you can? You will get more looks if you are playing at your 16U or 17U excelling there. A Lot of college recruiters do not waste their time attending 18U summer games simply because there's a thought that most of the really good 18 years old are already signed or the the average ones will probably not play college baseball.

I think there is still a need for 18U teams. Players love to play the game regardless of the circumstances. Whether they are going to college to play or if its their last year. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea for younger kids to primarily play on an 18U team. If they are wanting to gain exposure to receive a baseball scholarship. It's a known fact most scouts attend 16U 17U tourneys...Not saying that scouts do not attend 18U tournaments. Most of the time, if you see a scouts at an 18U tournament they are there to watch a individual player.

I think it really depends on the school your son would like to attend and what their academic standards for scholarships. Different schools have different requirements. My kid took the ACT at the end of their sophomore year to get a gauge on what areas to improve in.

Agree, Ryle lost leadership and players that contributed to a great season last year . Everyone wants to rank them in the the top of the region. Im not convinced they will be able to get out of their district.

Academics is the key to it all. It doesn't matter if you are D1 caliber player or not. If your grades are not up to par you may be wasting your time. We all know a majority of baseball only receives 25%. A scholarship at that % is good but you and your parents are on the hook for the rest. As been stated, their freshman year is the most important.

Did Deters have arm problems last year? Not sure how much Forbes will pitch. Blue has a pretty good arm also.I'm not sure they should be put at #1 considering how many seniors lost. Their district will be tough enough to get out of.

Those are valid points, that's why there's a lot to consider when choosing a college to play baseball. It's not always the best choice to choose that big school that may cost 20,000 to 30,000 more than the lower tier D1. Also, if I were a recruit, NKU has an very attractive schedule.

I totally agree Runner. I would like to think with the position they are in now and being able to compete in recruiting with the like of EKU, Morehead and other smaller D1 schools in the area, future recruiting will target more local athletes.

Just curious, what makes it such a step down from those schools listed?

Unfortunately that happens in most baseball programs.
