I stand by it, it may be a difference in culture, but if the best reason you can come up with for not playing is you don't want to cut your hair then that's your decision but you definitely didn't get 'run off'. At pretty much every program I've seen athletes usually have to adhere to special rules set by their coaches including ones regarding personal appearance. Pretty much every coach I've worked under made kids cut their hair, keep a clean shave, cover up their tattoos, and wear a shirt and tie to games during the regular season. It just comes with the territory. If Biggs has these rules, he's likely had them for a long time, which means he has no obligation to change them now. If kids don't wanna play ball bad enough to buy a $9 set of hair trimmers that's their business, but no one owes them an apology.

And the reason he doesn't have a 16th Region title is simple. Someone (Fleming, Rowan, Elliot) has just had a better team every year that he's been in it. Brad Carr and Mike Code have had the same problem in the 10th and no one's calling for their heads. I'm sorry but if Ashland fires Buddy Biggs, I think they're fools. I think they'll seriously damage their program and have no one to blame but themselves.

I mean, unless there have been reports of Biggs being legitimately abusive toward his players (and I've heard none), I don't think he can really be blamed for kids quitting. If kids are quitting because they're being constantly insulted or not being allowed water breaks that's one thing. But if kids are quitting just because they don't particularly get along with the coach or don't like his rules I don't have a lot of sympathy. I sat on benches with guys I absolutely couldn't stand, and I did it out of loyalty to my team and school. With all do respect, if Coach Biggs has 8 district championships and 5 region finals appearances and a trip to Rupp, and Ashland is having a bad season because a bunch of Ashland students and parents decided they'd rather not play for him, it sounds like it's Ashland's problem, not his.

Ben Swolsky from St. Pat, should be about 6'5-6 by the time he's done growing, recorded a few double-doubles as a freshmen this year. I know Mason County's got a big ol boy coming up too.

Agreed, wasn't saying that St. Pat was or anything, was just saying that back in 2007-08 and in the late 90s it made for a solid rivalry and some instant classics (2000 Region Semis, 2008 All A Finals). As for why Coach Taylor didn't reschedule, I may not agree with it, but I understand it. I'll concede, and anyone who's being honest with themselves will agree, that the mustangs have had st. pat out-classed for the last 5 seasons (the one year we were pretty even with them talent-wise they had an oak tree shaped gent named Joe Jennings and our biggest guy was about 6-4), and Taylor couldn't be sure that inexperience wasn't gonna be a factor for the saints this year. And while I know you don't learn anything by playing the Covington Latins of the world (no offense intended, go trojans :thumb:) you also don't really learn anything by getting beat by 36 either. Coach Hinson had to make a similar call in 2007 with Mason County, and I think a lot of class A coaches will tell you that strength of schedule is a tough tight-rope to walk when you coach at a place like St. Pat. That being said if I were him I would've kept Brossart and Bracken and dropped Newport and MoCo, but that could be why he's walking the sidelines and I'm not :lol2:
