I will also add that once the ball goes into the post against NCC, you cannot mess around. Make a move fast and hard. The help and/or weak side defense comes quick and they slap the ball away if you hold it too low or too long. They are like a swarm of bees...and the ball is a pot of honey. :thumb:

I agree 100%. That would have been taking advantage of a definite size advantage over NCC. However, I will also say this...it is easier said than done. The thing is that a team has to be extremely disciplined and mentally tough in order to force that specific game/strategy against NCC. NCC's defense tends to get you running and putting up quicker shots or threes. These "shots" appear to come "easier", therefore teams take them although they are rushed, INSTEAD of the using patience, and mentally tough wherewithal to force your game plan and get the ball into the post. Altough NCC doesn't have any real post defenders, they still defend the post, by virtue of what their defense does on the rest of the court.

The bolded....EXACTLY! And to keep the thread on par, that describes NCC. And your comment about the struggle to play hard has been an issue for Walton at times this year also...a much bigger issue than athleticism. They are athletic enough. I don't care what anyone says, they just haven't always been "tenacious enough" as you have to be to win consistently with as many road games out of their region they have had. Walton brought good energy against NCC. I thought it was enough. They just caught NCC on one of their good shooting nights. (And it didn't help that Walton couldn't get to the free throw line late in the third and through the key part of the fourth) And that is a funny story about your daughter and Mrs Ison. That was smart of her to keep it zipped, it obviously worked.

Now you gone and done it....brought the teacher into it. :ohbrother: Now I'm gonna have to straighten up for sure. And no...you did not offend. Pick a fight maybe, but not offend. With the question, I was setting you up in order to tell you how athletic the Bearcats were because of how well they generally shoot.

Walton-Verona's Hailey Ison scores her 1000th point
Young lady is also currently leading the state in free throw percentage at 89.6% Current KHSAA stat leaders. Getting to the line and hitting a high percentage has been a big part of getting to a thousand.

Nice stab. And you will get the same response here as in the other thread...more than some, less than others. :thumb: Question for you since you like to keep pressing...since you used a players hot shooting streak as a spring board for your "athletic" post/jab, do you consider shooting as a sign or part of athleticism?

Holmes 50 Ryle 45 OT
I've seen this done before at boys games, but never at a girls games. Usually the girls don't get the same size student sections. Honestly, you have to give props to the Ryle students for coming out to support the girls team. It is funny if you are "with" the same team as the student section or even an "unbiased" spectator. I could see where it would be very annoying if it's being done to your coach. When I saw this done, I watched to coach it was being done to to see how it effected him. He never once paid any attention to it. He might not have known it was going on.

Those were daggers. Nails in the coffin. WV did well to keep it even as close as 6 on the road, in the wake of that bombardment.

Congrats to NCC on the win! Maybe the 4 points away from a thousand thing, maybe just jitters, I have no idea but Walton just could not get started. Fell behind double digits, and had to dig out of a hole. Once they settled down, they played very well to get back within 4 at the half. The game was actually a 1 point game late in the 3rd with the Bearcats getting a little momentum...then all of the sudden, things got very physical. Up until that point, I really didn't think it was that physical. Referee's and the way the game was called was very much in the back ground. All that changed late in the third. LB is 100% correct. NCC will get after it and they are not afraid to be physical. IF they are allowed to play that physical, it will be hard for a lot of teams to beat them. Bearcats were not able to handle the physicality very well, especially after DeZarn went down on a fumble...oops, loose ball. A couple of other things... Ware is stinkin' fast. Walton had her trapped at half court with 3 defenders, I blinked, and she was scoring a layup. I would have loved to have seen Walton put Ison back in the post early in the fourth, when NCC had Ware defending her. Ware is a lock down defender on the perimeter, but perhaps not as much guarding a skilled back to the basket player in the paint. NCC shot very, very well from 3...don't let LB's game updates mislead you. Was probably the difference in the game....(besides the crazy shift/turn to physical part)

Walton-Verona's Hailey Ison scores her 1000th point
Yeah...thats it. And she knows I can still take her. Except for horse, she owns me at that. I hang in there until she starts pulling the left handed free throws. Then I'm finished.

Walton-Verona's Hailey Ison scores her 1000th point
Congratulations to an amazing young lady on a wonderful accomplishment! Great Job Hailey Ison! Keep up the hard work. Hats off to the NCC coaches, staff, players and announcer. They allowed a stop in play to take in the moment and made a big announcement. That is appreciated! I had every intention, and if I would have paid more attention, I would have succesfully used my 1000th post, to congratulate Hailey for reaching the 1000th point. That would have been pretty cool...Instead I accidentally used it in the update thread. :irked::banghead: WAY TO GO HAILEY!!!!! Now go get 2000!

The All-A Tournament is . . .
Just looked at the poll results.... Current total of top TWO choices favoring ALL A = 39 Current total of remaining FIVE choices not favoring ALL A = 24 It appears that having too many choices of the "not favoring flavor", was a dreaded mistake. Thinned the vote out. Umm...Ross Perot?

Oh yeah...maybe I was subconsciously referring to watching the fans and parents when I described it as a "good one". :idunno:

Yes, they are pretty athletic, compared to some teams. And not as athletic compared to others. And I like to tell the truth.
