  1. I was at the Scott/Cov Cath game and from my perspective it wasn't like Scott sold out entirely to guard the 3 any more then they normally would. I think it was more that Cov Cath doesn't have the guard play and guys who can consistently knock down shots from the 3 pt line. Also, Scott's quick guards in Smith and Haynes had a lot to do with Cov Cath not getting any open looks from. Thelen is good enough to get his points no matter what defense is out there IMO.
  2. It will be interesting to see how this game unfolds. CC's strong inside game against HC's pressing full court defense and strong guard play. If Cov Cath handles the press I think it will be difficult for the Indians unless they get hot from the 3 and knock down some shots in the half-court. Thelen should have another big game inside. McClendon and Burger must have big nights for HC to win.
  3. Great point Walter - you are correct, game doesn't mean anything as far as seeding for the district tourney goes but I think it means something mentally for the HC kids. If they can break through and finally get a win over the Colonels, it would give them the confidence come district time knowing they have beaten them. Another loss this Friday and they may be wondering if they really can beat them come district play.
  4. Should be a good one. Holy Cross coming off back-to-back wins against Beechwood and Campbell Co each by 2 points. Cov Cath coming off a 7 pt loss at Scott on Monday. Can HC finally break through and beat the Colonels?
  5. Not sure of the final count but I think Campbell Co had to hit at least 10 3 pointers tonight.
  6. Final from Campbell Co. Big win for the Indians with Arlinghaus and Burger leading the way tonight - I'm sure Statman will be by later with stats and analysis from the game.
  7. Tough stretch of games this week for the young Indians, coming off a tough district seed game last Saturday night which they won by 2 in OT. They start off this week by traveling to CC tonight, then play at Cov Cath Friday night in another district seed game, then get #1 Dixie at home on Saturday night. As far as tonight, I'll say CC by 7. CC - 70 HC - 63
  8. I agree with you Clyde. I was at the first HC/Lloyd game a few weeks ago in Latonia and it was a close game (44-41 I believe) and Cheatham picked up 2 quick fouls and only played 3 minutes in the first half of that game. HC will press full court the whole game so I think the key will be whether or not Lloyd's guards can handle that pressure over 32 minutes. They have been forcing a lot of turnovers off the press the last several games. I think the HC kids are starting to believe and trust in the new system coach Goetz has put in place. 2nd game could get ugly.
  9. Just got word that the games are on as scheduled tonight for the All "A" Semifinals at NCC. Holy Cross vs. lloyd at 6:00 pm Newport vs. NCC at 8:00 pm
  10. Anyone have any details yet if the 2 semifinal games will be played as scheduled tonight?
  11. Charging $6 for adults to get in have anything to do with the lack of attendence this week at NCC ?
  12. Holy Cross just beat Ryle last week. They should be ranked ahead of them and at least 9 or 10 in the polls.
  13. I think McClendon will be fine once the game gets going but would be a little worried If I were an HC fan about Jalen Avery starting as a Freshman at PG going against that Bulldog pressure for the first time in the Fieldhouse. If he can handle the pressure and not turn the ball over this one could go down to the wire. Holmes - 58 HC - 53
  14. I was there for the entire game and not rooting for either team - I think the Campbell Co fans are way off base here. While the officiating wasn't great, and never is for Freshman games, they called fouls when there was obvious contact. The Campbell Co kids were overly aggressive the entire game. The coaches and fans were complaining about every call when it didn't go their way. They were clearly beaten by a better team. Brossart was even missing their point guard and missed 25+ free throws or this would have been a 30 pt game. I know this is a heated rivalry between the two schools which I'm sure contributed to the aggressive style of play but Brossart is the better Freshman team and far better coached team IMO.
  15. Free Throw shooting was bad for both teams - McClendon and Walker for HC each missed 2 in the final 20 seconds that could have iced it. HC 21-36 and Scott 21-33 from the line. Do kids today not practice free throws like they used to?
