A few reports from Europe over the wkd.
1. Spain reported that serology reports are showing only 5% of their citizens have had the virus. Their numbers are still worse per million than the US.
2. France opened some schools and have already had to shut some down as kids have tested positive of COVID-19.
3. Sweden still not a model.
This is what I am afraid of.

I’m sorry to hear this. Prayers for his family.

We did it. We complied. We stayed home.
We wanted the economy to open back up. We NEED our businesses to open back up. We are now given a glimmer of hope for normalcy. A chance for people to get their jobs back, go to the gym, go to places of worship, and maybe sports start again.
Now we have a new problem. We are back on the playground. Someone can’t have it their way. So take your ball and go home.

What about being courteous to me not wanting to wear a mask? This goes both ways. I'm more of a believer in the effectiveness of social distancing.
Wait, what? :lol2:
I had to read that a couple of times.

Thanks. Checked it out and got the schedules set up for my dad. He is craving live sports!

Just got off a google meet chat with my brother. He and some buddies postponed the annual golf trip to September. But chose to drive to South Carolina instead of fly. Said there is too much potential virus spread that can happen in a confined airline cabin.

But it’s not a normal year, and they’ve been on a dead period for two months now.
It’s not a normal year for anything. Football included.

RIP Breonna Taylor, was an EMT, aspiring to become a nurse. She wanted to serve/save others.
Tragic loss. So sad.

That's along the lines I was thinking. Where someone is absconding with the personal property of another.
Absconding. Love to learn new vocabulary. Thanks.

This is what I would like to know. I'm suspicious of the person who shot the video.
Yes! It is horrible and disturbing. I will also add that it looks like a set up.

That sounds more like a sociology class project than a chemistry project.
This was just one portion of the unit. There was technical content, chemical reactions, and collection of data involved.
-
During the “Virtual School Disaster”, my son’s chemistry class has switched gears to learn more about practical chem applications. Theme to one assignment was about the spread of Covid-19. The message was, “Act like you have it.” Then, “If you have it, you can spread it.” Finally, “Think of others and not the inconvenience on you, that is why you social distance and wear masks/gloves.”

Happy Birthday!

There is a chart floating around showing Indiana’s stages and what each stage means. It shows their plan is to be pretty much open with crowds of 250 starting July 4th. Face mask optional but still social distancing. Each stage change is roughly 3 weeks. I’m not sure what it really means for sports but it’s at least a glimmer of hope that a season could happen.
Crowds of 250 by July 4th? It would seem that schools, sports and everything else open up.

That is nothing but a false sense of security.
And an annoyance to wear.
I don’t know how our healthcare workers wear them all day.
-
Let's remember, so far the Rona does not appear to be much of a threat to children. Additionally, if you can stuff 20 or 30 students and a teacher in a room together you can play sports. All I am asking for is consistent logic.
Face masks will be the new fashion accessory.

The mother of an acquaintance is fighting for her life right now. Her husband got it. Then she got it. Husband is recovering. She is in the hospital, on a ventilator, has received plasma transplants. Fighting.
We all know that someday we will die. But this is a horrible, dreadful, lonely (no family) way to go.

Spirit wear masks.
It’s going to be a thing at each school.
-
Without hearing more of the details, that sounds like an incredible burden on the teachers if the split occurs through each classroom.
I would much prefer this than no student/classroom engagement at all. It will not be any more challenging than what we are doing now.
Meet, teach, assign, two days later meet, check work, answer questions, maybe assess, teach more, rinse and repeat.

I’m checking out of the CV discussions. I can’t tolerate people disregarding so many others health and trying to justify it with the economy.
Be better people.
Team Deuce
I don't care about marriages lasting, 401k plans dropping, and the stock market.
I want my 5 to survive and see the other side.

This is the key point everyone who is clamoring to get back out is missing. Your healthy, with no underlying conditions? Great. And congratulations. But if you get it, and are asymptomatic, you could spread to everyone you come in contact with. It's not just about you and your health.
Another one your very wise posts, @rjs4470. I rarely get sick. I typically feel pretty good and there have been times where I was sick and did not even know it, like many us. But it’s not about me. I have 2 son’s with an underlying health condition, T1D. We have been warned that they will struggle to recover from Covid19. It’s about them.

This makes sense to me. One thing we are good at as a country, is pulling together during the really tough times (not so much when things aren't tough), when the country as a whole is in trouble. Just from what I've seen lately, people have been friendlier, crime is down, more charitable, and sympathetic. There's been no looting. No violent protests. All you hear is about how everyone is suffering financially in some way. Big difference mentally when you look around and everybody is struggling, than when your struggling alone and everyone else seems to be doing well.
This is so true!
The quarantine has leveled the playing field.
And it has diminished the stress of being left out or not measuring up.
Brag about your latest big purchase? Can’t.
Brag about your awesome vacation? Uh, no.
Brag about your latest party? No
Name drop who you hung out with? Not happening.

Whatever. Don’t care. It’s a strange world that we live in. People are going to interpret their entitlement the way that they want to.
For the old lady shopping, who lives alone with no help/no family, I’m wearing my mask for her.
