How could I forget “Lady”?

So many great sing along songs. “Lucille”, “Coward of the County”, “Islands in the Stream” (with Dolly), “Ruby”, and on and on.

Italy is getting hit harder than most.
Apparently they have lost a lot of people with pre existing conditions. I read somewhere that 99% of the people that have died from corona virus there have had pre existing conditions of some kind.
Still scary, but there must be a reason it is so much worse there than it is anywhere else.
In addition to not heeding the warning of social distancing, part of the high death rate in Italy due to COVID-19 is not enough hospital beds, equipment and staff. Many (not all) who contract the virus will need a ventilator for a period of time to recover, or they will die.

Forced to learn new skills—-my technology world is opening up, as I am forced to do new things, learn new APPs etc.

Remember that movie “The Poseidon Adventure”? A line from the theme song, “There’s got to be a morning after...”, keeps running through my head.
So I’m looking for some hope, positives, in this mess.
1. Air pollution levels in quarantined cities in China and Italy have plummeted.
2. Researchers say that antibodies from recovered COVID patients can help protect those at risk.
3.In South Korea, recoveries are outnumbering new infections.
4. China is closing temporary hospitals and reopening parks!!!
5. Canals and waterways in Venice, Italy are cleaner than ever.
What else. Let’s share some hope?

My son cannot fly home until this is over.

25 cases in Kentucky.
- 7 from Fayette.
- 7 from Jefferson.
- 6 from Harrison.
- 2 from Montgomery.
- 1 from Nelson.
- 1 from Clark.
- 1 from Bourbon.
14 men & 11 women.
The 25 includes those who have been released from the hospital and also the man who died.
Average age of the 25 is 54 years-old. Youngest is 27, but she has recovered and was the first diagnosed. Oldest is 80.
Interesting. We got an email yesterday from St Elizabeth’s Hospital that there have been NO confirmed cases anywhere in their network. I find that surprising.

Yes! This is not how we want our dad to go. No Mass, no bars, limited to about 5 family members who can check on him.And that is why this should be taken seriously for ones that are older and for ones that have conditions already making their immune system weak. -
Probably because we actually care about doing our best to take care of the older generation. If I somehow got this thing and gave it to my 83 year old father and he died because of it, I'd have a really hard time forgiving myself.
My dad is 92. At his age, he could take his last breath any time. I just don’t want it to be this virus.
-
I hate this for everyone.
Then I go back to the logic, and it makes sense.
Take away opportunities for this to spread, and it won’t. It will just die.
Let’s all help it die.
-
Probably, but I’d rather go bankrupt than lose my 78 year old father or someone else I love.
Yes! And when it is over, I want ALL my students back in my classroom.
Businesses and industries will suffer for sure. But hope that we will still have all of our people to continue to travel, go to school, sporting events, etc.

My extended family has a new plan called OPOOF. (Operation Protect Our Old Farts).
For my 92-year-old dad, he is not allowed to go to Mass or the tavern, his two favorite places to be. His visitors/caregivers are limited to the same 5 people.
Hoping he continues to thrive and survive better than his stocks/investments at this time.

Not worried about the Virus. Hate how it is affecting the lives of our young people. Worried about their mental well being. For many, school and extra-curricular activities are their routine, their friends, and their safe haven.
-
On a related note, I’m hoping that kids aren’t pressured to attend school while sick just to keep a perfect attendance run intact.
I am with you here. Just hope it does not flip the other way, where students doing the "fake sick" thing to avoid school, won't be questioned and can miss school whenever they want.

Just saying this is the thought process that leads to the panic - some valid, some less so. In this case it seems everyone has heard the supply-chain may be threatened since things are cut off from China. Not sure if people assume that TP comes from China.
This is what I am the MOST worried about......My daughter's wedding dress.
Will it arrive from China in time? :lol2:

1. We assigned chrome books to students who don’t have a device at home.
2. Paper copies of lessons will be available to students who don’t have the internet infrastructure for online, remote learning. They can pick up at the school office.
3, Teachers are still reporting to school each day, to create lessons and assessments for online learning.
4. We want to continue to provide enriching education opportunities for your children, but we have no script for this. Please be patient with us.
5. I miss my students already.

Same here.
Already mourning the way life used to be before COVID-19.

Great post.
I will add one more for you and many others:
—-a little worried about this virtual classroom taking my job in the near future.
Have to be resilient and ready to adjust and fill new needs.....
A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with a teacher who has a side hustle teaching English online to Chinese students.

Randoms on the Coronavirus......
—-worried about my 92-year-old dad. Hope to see him again.
—-worried about my son over in the United Kingdom. Hope he can come home before a travel ban is placed on the British Isles.
—a little worried about access to insulin. We are pretty well stocked up, but I fear for those who are not.
—worried about those kids who get breakfast and lunch at school, and now they won’t have those meals. Cafeterias will still be prepping take home meals for those kids, but they will need a ride to school to pick up.
—-a little worried about how to get this virtual classroom ready to roll by Monday.

University of Kentucky remains open, but courses will be online March 23 through April 6.
-
I am concerned about schools closing. Sure, teachers can do all kinds of online stuff to continue to enrich and challenge students. However, not all students have computers at home. And even if they did, do they have the appropriate network set-ups to support online learning?
I think that this should be a high priority item for our public schools right now: Get chromebooks/tablets in the hands of each student, and make sure that each student has the network capability at their place of residence.

What a fantastic season the Cru had! They truly are a “Band of Brothers”. Vieth, Bessler, and Cory Shea have been playing together since the second grade. It was fun to see the Shea brothers Connor and Cory, play on the court at the same time. Faust put together a fine squad. Looking forward to seeing what they can do next year.

I think you just brace yourself that you could get the virus. In that case, if you were sick and at home, what would you need? What would you eat? Stock up on soup, crackers, frozen chicken, frozen veggies, juices, bread, etc. If it happens to you, hunker down and do whatever it takes to recover.
