  1. West Jessamine hosts Holmes at the Colt Classic on 1/15/11. Will it be a contest?
  2. A balanced attack and cutting down on the turnovers resulted in a good win for the Colts. I'm a little surprised the Generals were a preseason #14. Must of been a good feeling for Coach Kelley exacting a bit of revenge on Lafayette.
  3. Donaldson's basketball IQ and skills don't match his athleticism which is very, very good. Foul trouble has not been an issue. If he understands his role, and learns the proper technique of shot blocking, West has the potential of winning some big games.
  4. Two years ago, when West Jessamine was spanking the Australian National team, one of the Australian players, during a free throw, blurted out, "can't we just go home." I think Doss will be singing that tune from the opening tip on.
  5. Disappointing loss for West. Clearly, they have work to do and need to develop a better defensive scheme. Dixon had way too many open looks. Apart from Pohl and Strait, the offense looks a bit anemic. I hope as the season progresses, Donaldson gets more playing time. His offense is a little raw, but if he could harness his defensive skills, he could be a real game changer. It was a good win for McCreary...definitely one they can build on. I sure hope Pulaski isn't really 35 points better than McCreary.
  6. Oh well. Hey...like I said in the other thread, Danville will get better. They're a very strong and physical team. Is Pulaski really 35 points better than McCreary or did the Raiders have a bad game? I'm hoping the latter.
  7. Defensively...they didn't look real tight, which is to be expected since they haven't played together very long. Taylor looked very good which is also to be expected. I'm not sure if there is anyone who can really stop him. My son said they don't have a lot of height, but they are one of the physically strongest teams he has played against. They will win their share of games and be a team to watch out for come tournament time.
  8. Two teams expected to have somewhat down years. Who will come out on top in this game played in Stearns.
  9. Yes...I was there and they did play.
  10. Good win for WJ on the road against a very athletic team.
  11. Hey...we are thankful we're in the 12th, but we're not as bad as we played on Friday. We handled Franklin easily this summer along with Woodford, Henry Clay and even LexCath in their own tournament. Some nights you have it, and some nights you don't. I hope we can rebound against Danville on Tuesday. As far as your post...Franklin did look like a better team on Friday.
  12. Final Score...FC 57, WJ 53. West has a little work to do.
  13. 12-3-10 contest at Franklin. WJ 67, Franklin 59.
  14. 12-3-10 contest at Franklin. West 67 Franklin 59.
  15. I love bantering with y'all. Does anyone have a prediction of the West-Boyle game on 2-1-11 at Boyle?
  16. How about when West's 6'6" center Sean Donaldson gets into basketball mental and physical shape? He was their wide receiver. I truly don't think there is anyone in the region that is better than West's front line of Pohl, Hager/Donaldson and Strait. It will cause some serious match-up problems. Rowan was bigger (and perhaps better) than any team West will see in the 12th region and they held their own very well. East and Mercer will both be very good and won't have a problem scoring, but in the end, their size may hurt them a little. It should be a tough district. It doesn't matter if Rowan is eventually better, the next time West could see them is in Rupp...if Rowan makes it.
  17. Is Rowan the only team with football players? The Herald-Leader has West in their 12th region preseason top 5. Whose radar were they going to slide under?
  18. West Jessamine 56 Rowan County 52 (fully loaded, at Rowan). The Colts beat a very good team tonight. They epitomize "team".
  19. It was a good test for both teams heading into the regular season. Both teams should do well in their region. Special thanks to the Rowan County folks who helped me with my dead battery.
  20. Mercer (with all their players) just lost to Henry County by 5 in a scrimmage. Wayne has a solid team but lost big to a number of teams last year. I just can't see them as an overwhelming favorite. They're good, but so are a number of other teams. If there was any year that the region could be considered wide open, it's this one. Strong contenders are West (don't laugh, you'll see), East, Mercer, Wayne, Southwestern, Danville. All I can say is that this is the best time of the year for sports.
  21. 1st Region: Paducah Tilghman 2nd Region: Christian Co 3rd Region: Muhlenberg Co 4th Region: Bowling Green 5th Region: Central Hardin 6th Region: PRP 7th Region: J'town 8th Region: Collins 9th Region: Boone 10th Region: Clark County 11th Region: Tates Creek 12th Region: West Jessamine 13th Region: Clay Co 14th Region: Hazard 15th Region: Johnson Central 16th Region: Elliott Co J'town vs. Clark Champion...J'town
  22. Hey...the players, as do the teams, prove it on the court. This top ten stuff is just for preseason amusement. I think WJ is underrated, but this is what makes November so much fun.
  23. So little love for my West boys!(JK) No doubt they lost a lot, but I think they will be more solid than a lot of folks think. Not a lot of varsity experience, but they have practiced the last two years every day against the starters of the 12th region champions. I understand it is hard to argue against East and Mercer, and as you alluded to earlier, the next month or so will answer a lot of questions. I for one, cannot wait!
