9th Region 2011
This thread started by talking about 9th region baseball. Was enjoying reading about some teams and interesting players. Am really looking forward to the season. Was wondering how this has deteriorated into posts about things only people in Ft. Thomas care about. Maybe you could all share your information on a Highlands website or something, and let the rest of us talk about the upcoming baseball season.

Rooster Baseball Club
Thanks. Wasn't aware schools of that size were able to give full rides to kids with the amount of players and the amount of funds they have to allocate.

I have been involved in recruiting or scouting in this area for over 30 years and have never heard of Mid Continent University. Where is it and what type of school is it? D3 or NAIA? Is it a new school? Have there been changes in the rules where this level ( non D1 ) schools can give athletic scholarships? Thanks

Does anyone know how big the Hollen kid is? Is he right or left handed?

Jackson Laumann Commits to UC
Had a chance to see Cotton at the Boone-Ryle basketball game the other night. Looks like he is getting real strong. Really likes it at UC and playing just baseball year round. This kid might get real good as he commits just to baseball.

Jackson Laumann Commits to UC
Good point. I wasn't sure if he was healthy, but if he is he could help at that level. That would be one from each of the last three classes. Maybe they are starting to get it.

Jackson Laumann Commits to UC
Glad to see UC is finally recruiting some kids from Ky. With their facility and especially with the bubble going up on the practice football field, they should be able to compete in the Big East. No reason Louisville should be so far ahead of them. Maybe with Cotton last year and Laumann this year they can start to keep some local players in town.

oldtime baller
Just going off of what the college coaches are saying Their info is usually the most accurate since their livlihood depends on it. Especially the in state guys from Morehead, EKU, WKU, Louisville, etc. They have to stay well connected with the in state kids with the new NCAA restrictions on scholarships.

should be exciting year in northern ky. Hempel will be a top player especially when he gets the football out of him. Teegarden a real good two way player. Same goes for Laumann on mound and at plate. He recently was in Ft. lauderdale for Midland redskins and Kansas City Royals scout team. Sexton also a good two way guy but he has never been 90 or even real close according to college coaches and scouts. What I have heard though, is that these are by far the best kids up here for next year.

Top players in the 9th Region
Have to agree with both HomerunHitter and hja1224. Leiff can play ss but his bat is behind those other guys. Jones is a good player on a bad team and certainly not in the class of Hempel, Laumann, Sexton, or Teegarden for player of the year consideration.

Butler 7 Boone 2
I guess you are right. Cov Cath had all those things. That's why they were at home while 16 other teams in the state were still playing. Absolutely unbelievable how blind people can be. Maybe they were trying to figure out a way to beat St. Henry and Scott.
-
Boone County 3 Dixie 1
I guess the two loses to Holy Cross in the same region and loses to St. Henry and Scott, two power houses, don't count. It's amazing how people can't see things as they really are and just because they wear blue it makes them better. It's pretty clear the last couple of classes at Cov Cath are down. You can see it in football and basketball as well.

Boone County 3 Dixie 1
I will debate that I know quite a bit more about baseball than you. Probably have forgot more than you know. CCH was not even in the top 4 teams. Actually other than the fact that they are very well schooled and coached their talent was way down. They were not very good at all.

Boone County 3 Dixie 1
it might be nice that someone on here talks about the team that won the sectional and the regional tourney. All year long all i hear about is Cov Cath and Dixie and Beechwood and Ryle. it is pretty evident that Boone has the best players, best team and best lineup. Cotton has the best numbers of just about any senior in Northern Ky, Laumann the best numbers of just about any Junior and Teegarden may be one of top Sophomores in the state.. Lets finally give some credit to the team that won and quit making excuses for the ones that lost....
