Johnson Central IMO is on another level, I completely agree.

You think Johnson Central would be favored over a PRP team that just ran the clock on Louisville Central? A team that also played St. X to 10 & (I forget the scores at the times of the game) battled Trinity for 3 quarters and some change nip and tuck before Trinity won by 19. There isn't a bigger fan of Doug Preston and Franklin-Simpson than I, either, but you think the same with them matched up with PRP? For what it's worth. John Hardin had an impressive showing against Christian Counry last year; a game in which they won while rushing for over 400 yards. Three weeks later against a Shelby County team that I'd saw was a draw bt them and Christian, John got smashed. While their showing vs Christian is disappointing; I don't feel that they "needed" an impressive showing. They had that last year and didn't win their Region. I'd love to see a Christian County/PRP match up. Freak show city athletically. If their line play can show up like they did against Central Hardin and Meade County, two programs that despite how up or down they are ALWAYS have very solid line play, then they could make a run. They took it two both of those squads and beat them at their own game (in the trenches).

This year vs. Warren Central on one of his extra points, he kicked it over the track (which he does like it's his job), but it hit and bounced through one of the windows of the concession stand. He ALSO kicks all extra points & Field Goals WITHOUT a Tee...all of them off the ground. He's done so his entire high school career.

John Hardin stopped Valley on a 2 point conversion to win two weeks ago, then turns around and beats Western 49-8 (which was the score at half. Western had just beaten Valley a couple weeks before by two TD's & some change). I'm not sure that comparing scores w/ John Hardin is that smart. lol See Valley, North Hardin, Central Hardin & you'll find 15 TURNOVER's (even though they still squeaked out wins vs Valley and Central Hardin). See Meade County, Western and even PRP (it was 7-6 at half, 13-9 i n the 4th) despite it being a loss (and, how they played defensively against Central Hardin) and there are NO turnovers. That's all you need to look at with them. They turn the ball over, and you leave thinking WTH? They don't turn the ball over and you leave thinking they are what you'd heard all along in the preseason.

We can start practice July 10th, which means that schools who open up Week 0 get SEVEN weeks of practice before their first game; EIGHT weeks, obviously for those who open up Week 1. We have Spring Practice--a football recruiting hot bed in Ohio does not get it (granted we should be allowed to play a game vs an outside opponent IF that's what the teams feel is best). We play 10 regular season games & allow dang near everyone to get in the playoffs, so most all play 11 games. 15 games total by those that make the finals. We don't get to do 7v7 in June (which, I agree is wrong for those who want to do so). You have places in the Mid-Atlantic up through the North/Northeast that don't start practice until August 1st (even some in the south, I think FLA's official "practice" date is August 1st) or LATER (look up Delaware, Massachusetts, CT and even Long Island in NY who play by their own set of rule). Their seasons start Labor Day weekend or the week after that (NFL opening weekend), and only play 8-9 regular season games. Michigan is another state that doesn't start practice until August 1st. NONE of the state's I mentioned have Spring Practice, either. I know it's a popular thing to say in that Kentucky doesn't take it as seriously as most, but I'm not sure how much real truth there is to that when you weigh everything out.

Same here and played all through my years of college, and that's not the answers I get. I get answers like, "The Class 2A 100 M Track Champion who also is an all-conference/even state type of player here, doesn't even make it to the State Meet in other states." Kids have gotten homesick and left camp/college for years, from all over the country. That's not just a Kentucky problem. Just telling ya. A whole lot of places could do something football related every single day of every single year, and it would make absolutely ZERO difference in that landscape of getting to big time D1 programs. None. The trump card, and people don't want to admit it, is nothing more than population and specifically, the demographics within those population(s). Remove the State of Atlanta-Metro from Georgia; transplant it in Kentucky and see how it changes. As a matter of fact, look at where the vast majority of big time recruits are located in Georgia....it's not the North side, that's for sure...and, they play by the same rules as the rest of the state.

I'd love it if that was really the case. Fact is, 80-90% of the programs and kids across our state could do football non stop and they wouldn't get recruited like "other" states. Which, let's face it..we are talking about the states I mentioned in my previous post..not Idaho or Iowa.

Some very valid points..but. Practice no longer starts at the end of July. Let's face it; come July 10th it's go time. However, our state not being recruited like FLA, GA, AL, TX, OH, etc has nothing to do with fall break. That's a population/demographic thing and absolutely nothing more. Personally, I couldn't comprehend missing a full week when having a game as player or parent. It's an obvious issue. That's for sure.

Bowling Green and John Hardin did the same. And, those are just the ones I know of off the top of my head. What you don't hear about are how crappy the practices are at places who have a game and/or don't have a game during fall break.

It extends farther than that. NKY seems to be the exception to fall break and Jefferson County. Lawrence County all the way in far EKY had a week long fall break the first week of October. I know Danville had theirs that week as well. Lincoln County had theirs last week. Bardstown (and, I believe Nelson County) had a two week fall break, and just went back this Monday. It's from Pikeville to Paducah for the most part.

In defense of this generation, those were also the days when the Head Ball Coach told all the boys on the last day of school (on the Friday before Memorial Day), "See y'all boys August 1st." (First day of practice) Families had two months of summer to get in their vacation(s). As you know, not the case anymore.

I know this effected Trigg County's Girls Soccer team last week. Five starters were out due to family vacations last week and they lost in the 1st Round of the district tournament; causing them to miss out on a District Title and a trip to the 2nd Region Tourney. They had beaten the other two teams in their district already prior to this. Fall Break is a REAL issue.

Fall Break has become it's own animal because of when it is. Most aren't going anywhere over Christmas Break because of Christmas (and, if you're family is like mine being so big and scattered; Christmas Eve and Christmas Day aren't the only days with things going on), and the beaches are a no go with it being cold. The same can be said for Spring Break in regards to temperature(s) at most of the hot spot desitinations. Personally, I've never understood Spring Break. 1) The first week of April here in KY is cool and often times pretty wet. 2) The beaches, unless you go to South Florida aren't much warmer than here in KY in the grand scheme of things. 3) I even thought this as a kid, but "We have 5-6 weeks of school left, why are we taking a week off? Let's push on through and let that be an extra week of summer." Fall Break's have become GOLD for many families. You are starting to see football programs set their open weeks with them because of the issues that he is talking about. Coaching and not having them coincide with the other is nothing more than a frustrating headache on steroids. However, being open during fall break is absolute money in the bank.

They started when school began going to the "year round" models at most places some 10-15 years ago with school beginning right around, on and even before (in some places) August 1st. Those became the trade off.

John was up 21-0 with a lot of time left in the first half. A fumble inside their own territory lead to a Valley TD with about 4 seconds left in the half. This game went from the feeling of a running clock was lurking to a ball game. Valley unfairly gets lumped in that bottom of Jeff Co, and they aren't. They are in that class of Doss, Western, Waggener of late, Fairdale and even Moore. They, like others in that list have no shortage of talent. You can't just show up and beat those schools (as they all do more than their fair share of beating others). Valley has VERY GOOD QB play in Campos. He's as good, if not better, than any QB in the region (I vote the last part of that comment). Their RB is a stud as well..you could also make the argument that he is the single best RB in the region. I know there isn't one with his size and power. Solid scheme. Campos does a good job coaching those guys. They did a lot of little things that most people don't do these days. They did a GREAT job of clock management..shortened the game...ran one of the MOST UNDERRATED plays in all of football on several occasions in QB sneak (and not just on 4th and short when everybody knows it's coming). Back to Campos at QB (coaches son)..very accurate and some kids that made some really great coaches on some really well thrown balls. Their quick passing game (3 step) was very efficient. Again..they aren't in the slum group of Jefferson County. I know often times on here things want to get made more than what they are. John looked very good early on (hence the early 21-0 lead), then turnovers hit (5 on the ground and lost 4 of them) and they played the most lack luster of a game for 2 1/2 quarters as I've seen them play all year. Is what it is. Played horrible for a half and some change while Valley had/has just enough players in key spots that you can't do that to, and John ends up winning by the hair of their chin. Pulaski who has a chance to represent 5A east again this year wins by 1 last night vs a South Laurel program who seems to always be average at their very best years. Bardstown, who has proven to be a real threat to come out of 3A west was fortunate to get by Moore last week.

Dang you PT...here you go and win BIG over a very solid Union Co club, and you mess things up for some on here. If y'all had lost by ANY amount, this thread would have 3 pages of comments by now.

Exactly. There are two teams in the state that either play or could play those monsters, and not end up with the same results as PRP.

Lol. You and others know the deal by now my man. John plays well and wins (see Meade, CH they still won despite 6 turnovers, but the D was lights out.. .or even plays well against very good teams and loses, see PRP); its crickets on here. Let them lose or win ugly? Boy oh boy.....makes the weekend for some.

Pulaski squeaks by South Laurel by 1. Duke almost knocks out Louisville. Weird night. Strange things happen sometimes. John was up 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter. They haven't had a turnover the last two games, then put it on the ground five times last night.
