Bottom line about Fayette Co. Public High Schools: Last state championship: Henry Clay 1981. You're telling me that with all the talent going through Lexington in 29 years that they can't get one team to reclaim a title? And as this year goes they are a combined 11 - 15, 7 - 11 outside the city. Tates Creek, this year's king of Lexington, gets shredded by a good, yet widely unproven and non-historic West Jessamine. Theories: LexCath and LCA have amassed large amounts of talent. Also the formation of Dunbar and the continuous spreading of talent among the schools have lead to a lack of a "complete team." Again I will use Tates Creek as an example in the fact they have a plethera of speed but between the tackles is subpar. Take away the outside game and force turnovers as West Jessamine did, they suffer. Another theory is the lack of a dynasty or dynasties. Trinity and St. X in Louisville have done so in Louisville and Highlands, CovCath, NewCath, and Beechwood have done the same in Northern Kentucky in their respective classifications. My definition of dynasty: Being a powerhouse in your region (area and classification) where either one or none have the ability to beat you outside a remote upset. With a dynasty comes two things (Northern Kentucky as an example): devastation of some programs such as Newport and Lloyd along with some in droughts (see Dixie and Bellevue) and the surge of talent (relatively) into other programs such as Bishop Brossart (in response to NewCath) and the 6A schools such as Ryle trying to top Highlands. If Lexington is looking to Tates Creek and Henry Clay to be dynasties, get consistent and beat teams outside Lexington.

On the road against a hot 2A contender, I don't think any team hurting like Mad Central would be able to recover. Only way this one stays close is if the Indians keep this a low scoring affair by containing the NewCath QB Hightchew with an aggressive pass rush and quality pursuit. Make this NewCath team go through RB Kelly and keep it close all the way to the fourth and maybe, MAYBE this one is a competitive matchup. With that said, I thinking we're looking at a 3 TD win for the 2A Breds. Really looking forward on taking in my first NKY football game of the year tonight.
