How did they end up in the field?

There are times where the kids have down time, but from what I have heard from coaches that work the camp is that during that down time there are "mini clinics" that kids can attend. Usually the kids have stations in the morning, then a morning game, seminars, afternoon game and practice, then a night game and between that time there are clinics and other stuff the kids can attend. Most of the coaches that I have talked to about this camp think that is a good camp for kids to attend, and lately a lot of out-of-state teams have been using it as a team camp situation.

Conner Jeffries of Henry County, B.J. Moore of Sheldon Clark is having a really solid week, Phil Barner of Mason County. Just to name a couple that I noticed tonight.

Im not sure who keeps track of how many points someone scores during a game at BC camp, but he is filling it up this week. The game was during the afternoon and it was a man defense. There are a lot of kentucky boys here this week and most of them are having a good week.

They should have a good year. Gallatin will surprise many people this year as well.

Shelby South Oldham North Oldham Oldham Henry ( people think this might be crazy but Holland is leaving a really good team) These teams are in no real order after Shelby at # 1 and I have only seen Grant really play this summer.

I don't have dog in the fight and I have no idea about the new coach at Bracken. I have worked with these boys at camps in the past and I think that they should be able to win within their class. No matter what the weight room is, a coach can develop players. I know that a nice weight room can bring new players in, but at the HS level you have to develop what you have. So as far as the weightroom, I think that is on the back burner. Anyone can take a weightroom and make it great for a HS program, all it takes is to move weights around into stations. Good luck to the new coach. He has the players to have a good year.

I know what you mean. It's werid to be in the All "A" one year and not the next, but Henry County is between Trimble and Shelby. Often times the parents of upset children will send their kids to Henry right after school starts hoping for something better. I think Henry is a good ob for a young educated coach to get a hold of. Holland has left some good talent and has rebuilt basketball at Henry.

Speaking of the 8th region all "A", who looks to be a front runner for making it to Richmond? I would say if Owen gets good gaurd play watch out, but Gallatin could do well and Corner Stone will shock lots of people!

His JV coach will not be at Henry next year and I do not think any of the other assistants would take it.

Holland was just hired as new coach at Oldham on Friday. I don't think there is anything posted anywhere about the job.

I think it was his class. He also coached the East/West allstar game in Florida.

Coach Combs has done a good job there. A lot of people do not like him, but I think he does a great job with the talent at Cumberland.

He was coach of the year while he was in Florida and while at Lincoln he was the top asst. to a very good coach.

What everyone needs to realize is that every coach in the state is always looking for the "better" job. Some coaches just don't find a better job. Holland did a great job with the kids at Henry. Holland took them to the region twice while he was there and won the first regional game in a long time for them. When was the last time they won 20 games before he was there? Any coach that steps in this position will have a good pool of talent and kids that play well together.

Which one would that be? Jones is the head baseball coach, and if its the Freshman coach I don't think they would consider him.

I would not consider it as strong as others in the area, but they still play twice a year and it is the "city school" vs. the "county school." Lately the games have not been that good because Henry has usually had the much stronger teams.

I think your right about the teacher positions that will be open, it will be hard for Henry. Is Nethery from Emience? I know that is still Henry County, but that is kinda like Jones leaving Gallatin for Carroll (Big rivals). I heard similar stuff about Nethery being very wise in the areas of X and O, but isn't more than basketball than just developing an offense? It will be interesting to see the names thrown around for this job here within the next couple of weeks.

North's coaching strategies is what hurts them for the most part. They have good players, but the coaches need to learn that you can't press and try to "run n gun" everyone. In close games they tend to have empty possesions and it ends up hurting them. Both North and South will have good teams this year.

They went outside the region to get Holland, I heard Nethery for a couple of jobs as well. I am not really sure why people think of him for this job. No offense, but he was only 2-22 ( give or take a lose) last year.

The JV coach from last year is not there anymore and the older assistants would probably not want the head position. Holland has turned Henry into a solid program in the 8th and with the new additions to the school this could be a very appealing job for a young coach. I think Henry being out of the All "A" is a good thing for Henry. They could get into another Christmas tournamnet or one in Jan.
