CovCath has contracted with ASAP of Covington to run the winter program starting Feb 2. They have also reveived 20 applications as of Friday

over the last 10 years CovCath has seen a 20% increase in enrollment, during a very bad economy, ACT test score well above the state and national avg. In sports, they are the only local school, I can think of , that has won district,regional, or state titles in all KHSAA sports they field teams. I did not include wrestling because this is only there second year. As a parent and alum this is record we can be proud of. When yours sons come home from college and tell you " thanks for sending me to CovCath" it made writing those checks worth it. The last 10 years looks pretty damn good

One correction Brossart was let go by Rowe

I was told 3 coaches and the other 2 were not named. Roberts name may have come out because he had already agreed not to come back. If this true I am even more disappointed that Wirth was let go, Roberts had become a major issue within the team the last couple of years. I know someone who has spent many years helping the school and never said a bad thing about any coach or staff member , but he never had a good thing to say about him. The offense had become so predictable, after the Highlands game I talked to a couple of players and they where very upset. They kept telling the offensive coaches that Highlands is calling out the play that they where going to run, but he never changed. I talked to other coaches and they told me the same thing, CovCath had become very predictable.

I liked Wirth , disappointed but not surprised he was let go. I thought it would have happen earlier I did hear from someone that was at the BB game Tuesday that Wirth was asked to make changes including not bring back 3 coaches, one of which was Matt Roberts his long time OC. Wirth would not do it and Rowe may have found the reason he was looking for. Rowe does not like to loose, and talking to people who saw he after the Highlands and Beechwood games are not surprised.

In this case , the NCC game last year has the CovCath people nervous about the floor. I for one would loved to seen this game at CovCath where you get that high school feel. The question I have is how many more people are going to show playing $11 than would have shown up for the game at CovCath.If the floor is the issue play the freshman and JV games on Saturday, have presale tickets and do not open the doors till 6:30. This is want they did for the game against HC earlier this year

Ted was head coach of the middle school 2006-2010 varsity linebacker coach helping Ray 2011-2012 Head Freshman coach 2013 something happen after that season and he left the program. I really believe Ted could help Wirth these year. I would to see him back in the program as Head Freshman coach

Problem 1: There may be some true to this Problem 2: CovCath has one of the best feeder systems around. The grade and middle school team are very competitive playing in GCYL (GCL) Highlands plays on the worst field I have seem and that includes LexCath's and talking to Highlands people there other facilities are not much better.Coaching , I agree. Highlands get the most out of there players, but I do not think they get better quality players. Wirth inability to over come the mental part of the playing Highland lead to just bad performance by both players and coaches, and is a small reason we are here today. Problem 3: I do not believe its a issue, but within couple years they will have a new stadium. If they come out of the silent phase. Problem 4: Yes CovCath expects to win state every year, wouldn't expect anything else. Just like Highland expects to win every year. Problem 5: Brossart did not get a fair shoot from parents, however Wirth never had a problem until this year and he brought a lot of it on himself. Wirth had good support from parents until the Beechwood game but it never reach the Brossart levels.

Remember that any coach will have to be a teacher. CovCath has a non written policy that the 3 major head coaches be in the school during the day

I was a little surprised that it did not happen in December. Rowe meet with him unless once after the first Highland game and put it mildly Rowe was not happy. And yes Rowe was hearing from both parents and players. Also heard over the holidays that it was starting to affect the capital campaign. I for one am sad to see him go, I like Dave. But some of the things that happen in the lock room this year, I can understand why there was a mini revolt this year and Rowe was staring to hear from parents. One of the rumors is that he was told not to apply for any other jobs, but went ahead and applied to Roger Bacon. Which explains why it happened so late, they where 3 weeks into off-season workouts
