  1. From what I remember, he didnt get along with anybody at Harrison County either. I guess as a coach you can blame the administration, parents, players, etc.. but after you do it at every school your at, maybe its time to look in the mirror.
  2. Leatherneck, it seems that you're assuming that any coach who has a bad season isn't working as hard as a coach who has a good season. There are a million factors that figure into a bad season, and just one of those is the coaches. If you look at the history of SOHS, you'll see that, no matter the coach, a good season is hard to come by. If the coach isn't the constant in the situation, then you have to realize that something else is the problem. You use Highlands as an example--Highlands has a winning tradition. People want to play there. Some schools try to build a winning tradition, but no matter how hard they try it doesn't happen. Some schools just have more athletes, more pride, more support, more drive, more team attitude, more whatever. Does that mean that other coaches at other schools don't want that? If it all came down to a coach wanting it, wouldn't every team be undefeated??? For you to assume that someone who goes 6-26 is satisfied with mediocrity is ridiculous.
  3. Maybe the parents could take turns coaching the team at South. Some run practice, some do the games, etc. Then if they still were not winning, they could start blaming each other.
  4. Leatherneck, I would just counter with the survey comments and aggree with other posts that the survey was not intended to better the coach, coaching staff, or program. It was meant to further discredit the coach and coaching staff. Now, if the survey was given to all parents (it wasnt) and done by the coaching staff (it wasnt) then it might be a little different. But having a parent that decides on their own (or with a few fellow disgruntled parents) that need to get a survey together and only give it to a select few parents, then in no way do I see how it was ever meant to help anything.
  5. I would have to agree with that TheLegend. I have heard that it was only given to a select number of parents and not every parent. I would venture to guess that the only parents who received it, were the ones doing all the complaining.
  6. I had heard simlilar things. I would agree a bad situation. I think Coach Holbrook was doing a good job building that program the right way and was getting the most out of the players he had. They have been a little short on talent the past couple years which has hurt their wins, but he was doing a good job. I guess when parents feel they have more say so than the coach, it can get ugly. I might try to ask around and get some more information about this "survey".
  7. Why would they "Go After" Higgins? Seems to me he has underachieved at Fern Creek.
  8. Well who is then? The coach himself or the principal. Must be a reason a coach leaves after only 2 seasons with some steady improvement?
  9. That is what I have heard, but just looking for confirmation. Anyone?
  10. I agree it is a joke. I didnt go through it with a fine tooth comb, but looks like the majority of the 1st and 2nd teamers are from teams that played in the state title game or state semis. Looks like that the AP voters only saw and knew about those kids. I think Buckler deserves to be there.
  11. Thanks Coach Hard. I dont get agreed with much. The post didnt even say that the new Head Coach would have to have college exp. It said the assistants would if they would be asked to stay around. Just didnt make since to me.
  12. Why would they need college coaching experience to coach high school? That does not really make sense.
  13. What does Boone look like for next season? Don't they return a lot of players?
  14. It is the ball that has to cross the endzone line, not the players feet. I saw it too. They were legal run backs.
  15. Hard to compare Scroggins record against 6A vs Nichols. Scroggins coaches a 3A team. I will say that Scroggins record at Doss was not impressive though.
  16. It makes me wonder how much coaching he does during practice. Also, during timeouts, I think I saw him within 2-3 feet of the huddle once or twice, but never motivating or coaching. Once again, not trying to be negative, just wondering if he is more of a figure head or actually does coach during practice?
  17. I was at the state championship game and never actually saw him do any coaching during the game. Not stating this as a negative, just stating what I saw.
  18. Didnt Fugate from Breathitt rush for over 3000 yards last season? If so, that would drop him down another spot.
  19. According the KHSAA site, they have played in a 13th game 3 times since 1990. 9-4 in 1991, 11-2 in 2004 and 11-2 2005.
  20. 98% of Head Coaches in Ky are teachers also. They get paid a teachers salary plus a coaching salary or stipend. Alot of assistant coaches dont teach or work for school system so they just get their coaching pay, plus whatever their job pays. Which is very little for both of them for the amount of hours put in.
  21. I would say with the time coaches put in divided by the salary or stipend they get equals around 1 buck an hour, tops! I am sure they are a few expections, but for the most part 1 buck or under per hour.
  22. Do you know what happened? Seemed like they were going in the right direction. Fired or resigned?
