You get a sub par record when you have sub par players. This team lacked everything my teams did in 99-02. I thought we were lucky to go 6-6. They were in every game but the 2 I couldnt go to and I am glad I didnt go to Bell any of those games. Only 5 seniors and only one leader, this was a team that wasnt very good but Coach larkey and Saylor got the most out of them and I was pleased withthe record, especially for who we played. Rockcastle was in ever game. Coach Larkey left a team with a lot of experiance coming back and I am sure those kids are getting stronger. There is no reason not to win 8 or 9 games this year because all of the players are back. I never played high school for Coach Parkey but I expect him to step right in a win a lot of games this year because he has a vetern team. I think as fans we should expect to win right away and often. It is up to this team to keep the winning streak alive.

Well those five good people sure think a lot of Coach Saylor dont they!!! It is still odd you would even bring the subject up since you think so highly of each coach. I think real true and informed fans know why Caoch Larkey left. Seems some are not to informed and speak without thinking.

Not even Louisville or Notre Dame?????

True words I am sure. I guess I as will everyone else be dissapointed if this loaded Rockcastle team doesnt win at least 8 or 9 games. Will the new coach keep up the 22 years winning steak. It all rest on his shoulders now. I guess the new era has begun as well as expectations. I know Rockcastle fans expect to win this year because they are loaded. Losses are not acceptable, just ask Michigans coach.

It is not always 5.00. For basketball it is 4.00 a game. If it is a double header (boys and girls) it is 5.00. For football it is 5.00. Why do you not pay?

Like I said in earlier post, Rockcastle is loaded adn will walk over their first 5 opponets. I predict Rockcastle to score around 50 points a game and hold opponets to at least 7 a game. Bell if you cant throw look out, I hear the Rockcastle defense is packing this year.:fight:

I would say he dont feel crappy, since it was a great picture of two people who brought a lot of tradition to Rockcastle football. Why dont you ask Coach Saylor how crappy it is?

Rockcastle will be loaded next year. I believe they will win around 8 or 9 games. I only see Bell being the one htey may lose to. Game 1 v.s Somerset of Pulaski (not sure) should be easy win because of who they are Game 2 vs. Wayne will be sure win Game 3 vs. Madison Southern is a for sure win becasue Rock has owned them forever. Never lost to them Game 4 vs. Lincoln they need a new coach and sysem. Rock rolls in this one to Game 5 vs. Bell. It is at home and Rock always wins at home Game 6 vs Knox Rock wins because Knox is too slow and cant throw Game 7 vs. MCreary enough said Game 8 vs. Harrison a finess team who comes to Rock adn they always win at home Game 9 vs Mercer Rock wins easy, Mercer cant throw and it is at Rockcastle game 10 vs. Whitley Rock wins too becasue it is Whitley adn its Rockcastle, Whitleey will be intimiated becasue of the name. So there we go, Rock is 10-0 because Rockcastle only lost 5 seniors las year and Larkey left them loaded and full of experience. In 2009 Rockcastle will be state champs because htey will for sure be loaded and I mean loaded and full of experience.

It isnt personal, then why call him old as dirt and declare you dont want him. Obviously you are a David Hensley fan, I know Hensley is from there and that is fine to want someone like that. Do you feel Hensley would feel pressure form the good old boys to play their kids first? YES. Larkey dont have this problem and only wants good for the program. I suggest you get behind whoever the coach is and support him becasue the first year could be rough when a consolidation happens. Do you think Larkey wants to lose?

Lets compare Hensley to Larkey. How many schools has either been too. Larkey (3) Laurel, Cawood, Rockcastle Hensley I think SW Pulaski, Somerset, Pulaski, East Jessamine, Wayne, Harrison, and Dunbar. Now who stays where. what about accomplishments Larkey 2 state runner ups, 4 region titles, numerous distict titles Hensley 0 anything. Obviously it is true, you cant please everyone. A lot of parents think there kids are stars when they arent. I hope you arent one of those for your kids sake. Larkey will be there to win and lead Harlan, not there to be a puppet as you put it.

What makes you think Hensley would stay in Harlan? He has been to a lot of schools and never stayed vey long. I think he has been to SW Pulaski, Pulaski, Somerset, Wayne, Dunbar, harrison, Lincoln. He has made his rounds. I thought most in Harlan wanted a coach that was actually going to stay around.

I may be reading it wrong. It seems to me HBO669 is from Harlan and said he hopes Larkey stays. Larkey hasn't even been hired yet; so to me it means he or she hopes Larkey stays in Rockcastle. I may have just read it wrong; and if I did, sorry for the mix up. I just wish Coach Larkey the best of luck to what ever he does, and feel Harlan will only benefit from his knowledge and experience. In the long run this hire will pay off. Coach Larkey will at least get the program started on the right track and prepare them for the future. One thing I always admired about Coach Larkey is that he cared a lot for the players, always gave them the benefit of the doubt, and was always there for them. I envy Harlan.

It is not up to the school!!!!!!!!! It is up to the coaches who are left. The school doesnt take charge of these things,assistant coaches do.

Why do you hope he stays in Rockcastle? Who do you want as a coach?

Why would you not play the best 11 players. Do you want to win or just make everyone happy. If that starts then you will not win games. You just cant say hey we have a lot of kids let them all play. If that happened then you are cheating the better kids. I am sure if there is enough talent to go around then kids will be playing one way, if not then they will have to play both ways. No one is ever going to be totally happy, someone will always feel their kid is being cheated because every parent probably thinks their kid is a star and better than the others.

I also dont know much about the rivaly or reasons why Bell cant get these teams to play, but in reality why would they, they are small schools compared to Bell adn thus Bell has more players to choose from. Why doesnt Bell play Boyle or Danville a few times, they are always looking for games. Heck I would say take the Bell kids to Louisville for a overnight trip and play one of the big 3 there, see where your talent and program stands then.

The Rock will be loaded next year. I would say they win 9 games, and next year they will have even more talent. They only lost 5 seniors and have a great underclass coming up. Better look out Bell.....

From what I understand Chris Larkey doesnt want the job, why, I have no idea. Rockcastle will be fine, they have a load of talent coming up and only lost 5 seniors. They should hire Scott Parkey since neither assistant coaches Saylor or Chris Larkey want it. Parkey is familiar with the kids and a former player here. Until Coach Larkey says he is leaving, then he isn't. Rumors are for high school kids, not adults on this site, so if you dont know for sure, then dont say anything.

From what I understand, saylor dont want it and neither does Coach Larkey's kids. I feel Scott Parkey wold be a good coach. Someone from Rockcaslte does need to do the job. He is very capable of taking over i think and only time will tell if he does want it. Whoever gets the Rockcastle job will have a lot of talent coming back so a good season is very likley.

He coaches the Qb's and DB's. That is it, I dont think he has any other resposibilities. I know Caoch Larkey's son Chris did the special teams and Coach Saylor and Martin did the defense. Coach Larkey called the offense and sometimes got input from some of the other coaches on what might be open or not. i dotn think parkey ever coashed freshmen or jv, just a position coach.

My short list (front runners in bold): Blair, Parkey, Josh Martin, Poynter, Clay County head coach Leonidas, Scott Parkey is the leading assistant. He had some HUGE success as a middle school coach. He coached Regan, Leger, and the rest of those teams and even had a 3-4 year undefeated streak. So Scott Parkey only has middle school experience. from what I always thought Coach Larkey called the offense of Friday nights and his son Chris did the JV offense, and his other son Dackery did the freshmen offense. I dont believe Coach Parkey has any experiance coaching any level of high school, unless he did in the last 3 years. Why doesnt his son want the job? Also coach Larkey came from London, not harlan but was there at some point in his career.

Maybe Coach Larkey needs a change, how amny years has he been at Rockcastle. I didnt know you had to stay in the same place forever. I hate to see Coach larkey leave Rockcastle,he cared about winning, but kids first. I think Coach Saylor should be the next coach, he deserves it. Coach larkey will run a variety of formations with an emphasis on the run and play action. He keeps the defense off the field, his teams have been known to keep the ball for 18 minuetes a half before. Harlan is getting a great coach in my opinion.
