Wrong score....Bracken won this 9 to 5...

Oh! I forgot. Actually, when we played Brossart (Bracken I mean), Brossart's fielding was alright...there weren't many errors at all that I recall.

When who played them?

I must say that Paris brought their "A" game tonight. I thought they might pull it out. Final game went 9 innings with Nicholas winning 3-2 I believe. It wasn't an easy win for NC.

Nicholas was the better team tonight. They can always hit the ball, and they played the glove well tonight. Too many costly, costly fielding errors for BC. Good luck to Nicholas in Owensboro.

I did read that if a girl isn't throwing in the mid 50's that it was too early to throw the rise ball. I don't know a whole lot about pitching, but from everything I've seen, speed is a key factor.

Final from Brooksville. Sophomore Jordan Wills started the scoring with her first ever career homerun. Freshman first baseman, Makenzie Jefferson, had a big 2 out hit and RBI and so did sophomore clean-up Cassidy Jefferson. Sophomore pitcher Emma Conley had a shut out in the works until the top of the 7th inning when Bourbon's thirdbaseman hit a two run shot over the fence. With two on and two outs, Centerfielder Wills made a diving catch to end the game. Conley finished the game with 5 k's...a nice confidence builder after losing a close one to Fleming on Tuesday.

Bracken's record is 7-7. Not that records mean a whole lot, right?

Here's the real story with the real stats Bracken's young squad played a good game considering nearly the entire infield was out of position since C.Jefferson, their 3rd baseman and clean up hitter, was unable to play in tonight's game. BC rightfielder, Madison Ishmael, launched a long shot over the right field fence in the 2nd, making it 1-0. Brossart was unable to generate any offense tonight as Bracken's young pitcher, Conley, kept them off balance by striking out 8, giving no free passes, and allowing no hits. Bracken had four errors and allowed four baserunners---that's the real story. Bracken's offense came alive in the 3rd when they scored 11 runs. I don't remember very many Brossart fielding errors---maybe 2 or 3. While Bracken may have gotten beat by Oldham County in a pretty bad loss, as fellow poster Big Green Horse, was so quick to point out in another thread, it seems that playing some tough competition is beginning to pay off for the Lady Bears. Brossart's record may be better than Bracken's but records can be misleading. Bracken plays a tough schedule, and in the long run, it should simply make the young Lady Bears better as the season progresses. And in the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I got to say 'bout that." My momma always liked to quote Forrest Gump

I know that Bracken plays St. Pat at Bracken tomorrow night at home and Brossart takes on Nicholas Co. at Brossart on the same night. The winner of both those will meet in the semis later in April (17th or 18th maybe?). Augusta vs Silver Grove on the 10th, and I assume that means Calvary Christian vs Paris in that bracket.Paris should come out of that one to be in the finals again this year.

No foolin'? What KHSAA thing y'all talkin' bout? I'm achin to take a gander at that there thingy. Seriously? Fleming may have a losing record, but their schedule hasn't been a cakewalk--Scott Co? Madison Central? I'm not making excuses. We had costly errors in the field and on the bases.

First loss for the young Lady Bears this season. No excuses here....too many errors. Fleming made plays when they needed to....us not so much. We hit the ball hard, just right at someone. Also a couple of costly base running errors. Hope to get it out of our system early in the season. I wouldn't call it a shocker...we split with them last year.

maybe "camelbump" has some deeper meaning---like a metaphor for having a chip on one's shoulder. Haha....actually as I said in another thread...I think the Lady Camels have improved tremendously since the beginning of last season.

Probably difficult to tell much based upon the teams Brossart has played thus far--not trying to put down those teams but they traditionally have been considerably weaker than BB,right?

Segille Melton (not sure of spelling of first name)? She was a heck of a fielder, played shortstop for the Lady Bears and did go to NKU for two years....playing first base for a while when their starting 1st baseman was injured. She quit softball and got married after her sophomore year. Super sweet young lady with lots of talent.

a couple of girls from our team played travel ball with Karlee a few years ago---nice girl

Who pitches for NDA?

NCC was pretty solid at the other positions. An experienced pitcher would make all the difference. If these young girls get the pitching instruction, that will have a huge impact on their game as a squad. Good luck to NCC this season and seasons to come---I thought the coaching staff was classy and did a good job too. :thumb:

Bumper annoys me and I don't find it amusing that he or she puts down players or the team for no other reason than to cause trouble and create drama. Acually, I'm surprised at how many others pretend and play games on here. I like to support my team and talk sports. Others seem to have their own agendas.

Final from Brooksville. Bracken was trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the 7th. They rally with two outs, coming from behind for the victory. Great, quality win for the young Lady Bears squad!:dancingpa

They've played on KY Hicks and Sticks (primarily Bracken and some Harrison Co. players in the past), although Hicks and Sticks will not be playing this summer...so I don't know where their pitcher or the rest will play. Most of the girls play at Wald Park in Maysville too. The entire team plays basketball so they divide their time between the two as best they can...which makes for some tired teenagers when it's all said and done.
